 This! And rest up this week. Save your legs for the race. Good luck!

Hmm, I'm no expert, but I wouldn't be so concerned about the pace. As mentioned earlier, the point of your long runs is to build that aerobic base. If you were going 11:18 before, that is even faster than your anticipated race pace of 11:27. You don't need to be running race pace all the time, otherwise you're racing…

Simple. Don't keep a scale. Why torture yourself?

Agree with this too.

^^This. Think of the time in Karate Kid when Daniel just "wanted to do karate". Mr. Miyagi didn't just "teach" him, he built it up with strengthening exercises, things that built up his endurance, strength, etc. Finally, in the end, Daniel son took all that Mr. Miyagi taught him and was able to whip out the moves... "Show…

I think it's awesome to get out there and run just to run, but it's also important to keep yourself safe and uninjured, which is exactly what training plans do. They also help you get the most out of your workouts, and help you improve, in ways that you probably wouldn't have even known about if you just tried to run…

Simple. Just do it. Just like you would shower, eat, brush your teeth.... make it a habit. I know it sounds easier said than done, but really, if something is important to you, there are no excuses. You make time for it. Find something you absolutely LOVE to do. Find something fun that doesn't seem like a chore.

Speaking as a fellow shortie... I second a lot of what is said here. I am 36 years old, 4'10", 103 pounds and people say I look like I weigh less. (I have more of a gymnast's body - petite, muscular)... I started weight training regularly this year and have noticed a huge difference in my body composition. My main goal has…

I second this!

Ummmm.... GO GIRL!!!! :drinker: You look amazing!!! I love your attitude too... don't stress over the numbers on the scale. The proof is in the pudding.

Seriously?? !! Troll? Or just trolling to get a rise out of people? SMH....

I am probably in the minority... I can't help it, but personally, it's just a preference for me. I'm only 4'10" so if I was looking into the eyes of a guy, I just wouldn't be attracted to him. I love the idea of a guy who would be able to tower over me. Not to say that shorter guys can't be attractive - but for some women,…

 I love these.... You might be a runner if... ... you hit "snooze" on your alarm clock several times each morning when you have to get ready for work, but when you're scheduled for an early morning long run, you're up 30 minutes before the alarm goes on... ... friends and family don't recognize you in regular…

AMEN sista! I love your attitude. I can understand being competitive when it comes to a team sport or any other competitive sport, but when it comes to things like running, it's so totally personal (in my opinion). The absolute worst thing you can do is compare yourself to others. People either are naturally gifted runners…

UGH!!! What an *kitten*!!!!! Good for you for saying something to him! Stupid jerks like him think they can just get away with saying whatever they want to say, like you're not going to stand up for yourself. I've been in that situation and never stood up for myself. I wish I did. You have an awesome attitude, confidence,…

Completely understandable. I'm 4'10" with a small frame, petite everything (shoulders, torso, legs) and when I was at my heaviest, I got that a lot. I was probably 125-130 pounds and wore a size 5 or 7 in juniors, which is average for most women. Now I am about 103 pounds, size 2 or 0 Petite (ladies) and a size 3 in…

Yep, I own a scale, and for a while I measured things. I actually started measuring things when I started cooking a while back. Since then I've been pretty good about knowing what correct portion sizes are. It's a good tool to use at home, and if you use it regularly and cook regularly, you'll be more accurate estimating…

 Ahhhh I love liquor posts. This is probably the main reason I'm using MFP. Eating right? No problem! Exercising? No problem! Controlling my liquor habit? Problem! No seriously though, I've cut down considerably. I used to just drink hundreds of calories of hard liquor every single day, drunk ate afterwards,…

Yep, I count them - calories are calories.... a lot of fruit has a lot of natural sugar so those tend to be on the high side. But just think, you're getting more bang for your buck when you consume fruits and vegetables - at least they won't be empty calories.

I do the same as most - usually just look it up or look up something similar and round up. Or, if it's a dish that I'm pretty familiar with, I break down the ingredients. I cook a lot and read up about cooking/ingredients (Food Network/Cooking Channel, cookbooks, etc.) so I know a lot about what goes into the dishes I eat…

I understand. I absolutely love to run, not just for exercise but just for the sport in itself. After feeling like I've just been on one marathon training cycle after another, and putting in so much time logging miles, I did feel the burnout. If there is another sport or form of exercise you love to do, switch it up. I…

Average about 1600. I'll eat as low as 1200 and as high as 2500 depending on exercise. Been slowly losing and focusing on maitaining.

Not shallow at all. It IS shallow if that's the only reason you would stay with a physically attractive jerk or stuck up *****. Preference is preference... you can't help what you're attracted to. Some men love thick women. Nothin' wrong with that. Of course we're gonna get all the thick women respond to this post like…

Haters gonna hate. None of her business to clock watch while you do your thing. The workplace should promote a healthy environment, not one that tries to bring you down.

I am kinda playing it by ear. I am already happy with where I'm at. I am 4'10" and have been maintaining a muscular 103 pounds (think gymnast build). I started consistently strength training this year so I know I've reduced body fat. My main goal is to get even more toned and see how much I can improve as a runner with a…

I'll play. :-) 1. Favorite Restaurant: Everyday, regular food: Corner Bakery, my go-to meals. Otherwise, when I go out (I live in the Dallas area) Sushi Robata (for ramen or teppanyaki) and Pho Collonial are my favorite restaurants... 2. Favorite Room to Decorate: My living room - I love having guests over! 3. If one song…

Hmmm... I might be in the minority here, but maybe she didn't know what your goals were? I would like to think I have friends on here who share similar goals and have similar views. It might've been hard for her to relate to someone who had more to lose. I have been making the mistake of adding everyone, even the ones who…

I say Amen to Keep Runnin'! :drinker: That's bull**** that you can't run... sure, it may be more difficult and you're putting more stress on your body with more weight, BUT, if you train smart, ease into it, and listen to your body, you can still be a badass heavier runner while you get to the weight you want. I'm sure the…

I work for a big telecom as a software QA tester. I make sure our video network provisioning system does what it is supposed to do. Exciting, I know....

I only say it when I mean it, otherwise I go by that old adage "If you ain't got nothin' nice to say, don't say anything at all". I'm not much of a critic or diet police when it comes to people's diaries. I don't give unsolicited advice. I do wish there was a shortcut "good job" button (similar to Facebook's "like" button)…
