Most definitely! Some things just stopped tasting "good", with others it took some perseverance. E.g.: Diet Coke, most chocolate bars, crisps, most fast-food taste very chemical and disgusting to me now. I didn't have any of it for close to a year and after that I just didn't like it anymore (and I tried eating it,…

A big thank you to everyone who has taken the time to comment, I really appreciate it and am touched by your words! A few people have asked tips and tricks and I'm not really sure what to say. I lost the weight mainly cutting calories and then slowly adding in some (light) exercise. It started with lunchtime walks that got…

New to me foods I have come to love/like (random order): courgette, quinoa, porridge, pineapple, passion fruit, orange, weetabix, soya milk, cottage cheese, blackberries, natural yoghurt, dried fruit, smoked mackerel, tofu, raw cauliflower, soy sauce, ham (smoked or cured), pomegranate, honey, quark, grapes, mushrooms,…

I started off quite big and it took me 20-30 pounds to go down the first dress size. It then was around 15 pounds for a dress size and currently - I.e. now that I'm in the "normal" BMI range - it seems to be 7-10 pounds. Of course the strange sizing companies use doesn't help: at the same weight I was wearing two pairs of…

Roughly a quarter of the day's total calories, i.e. when I aim to eat between 1200-1400 kcal on the day, my breakfast usually comes out at 280-350 kcal (porridge with fruit or Weetabix with fruit). During the week I will then have a second breakfast with a similar calorie amount 3-4 hours later (yoghurt or quark with tons…

A month or two ago I went from not liking coffee at all to all of a sudden liking and even loving it - had a cravi for it one day and it's stuck with me since then. I have 3 4-8oz cups a day, all of them with frothed unsweetened soya milk. Maybe I should say I have milk froth with coffee as it's usually 1 part coffee to…

I grew up with it and have been in love/lust ever since. I'm under no illusions that it's healthy but every few months (once or twice a year) I go through a Nutella phase that non-surprisingly coincides with general bad eating (oh, the possibilities: Nutella on butter cookies, Nutella mug cakes, Nutella cookies, Nutella on…

I have lost 10st 4lbs so far and am hoping for another stone at this stage. My BMI is in the healthy range already but still close to "overweight".

Since losing weight, I make a real effort to cook from scratch and scrap most of those artificial flavourings, colours, etc - and have control over what I actually eat. There's still the odd lapse but I'm generally quite good when it comes to cooking from scratch (note: I'm not saying I'm great at cooking -> I'm not :)). I…

I put together a meal plan for the upcoming week and then go shopping accordingly. We generally make sure to cook 4 portions for dinner (2 people) and then use the leftovers for lunch the next day. This helps with portion control and avoiding the "so, what's for lunch/dinner" question.

I was 292.5 when I started and people started noticing after the first 30-40 pounds had come off. I guess as a general rule of thumb it will be a lot more noticeable when you don't have that much to lose.

I never used to eat *any* yoghurt until about a year ago. I tried low fat natural yoghurt and Greek yoghurt and didn't like the Greek version at all. The low fat natural was also not an instant favourite of mine but by adding fresh fruit and sweetener, I got used to it and now like it. I've been reducing the amount of…

1/2 cup jumbo oats (50g), 1 cup water, 1-2 tbsp oatgerm/wheatgerm/wheat bran (whatever I was able to buy, 10g), 1 tsp poppy seeds, 1/2 (?) tsp cinnamon, 1 tbsp (10g) honey, 1 medium to large apple. Love it!

I am 5' 7" and aiming for 135. I have to admit though that I more or less just picked this number out of thin air as I've never been anywhere near it. I want to get down to that number and see whether I like it or not and also whether it's a sustainable weight for me. I weigh 150 now and am already quite happy with this…
