Im 50 and in better shape than when I was 30 raising kids and not taking care of myself. You got this!!

TDEE-20% works for most people. I have found that even though I exercise 5x per week, since my work life is so sedentary I had to lower it to lose. I use the TDEE-20% at my goal weight instead PLUS I do 5:2. That is 2x per week at 25% of TDEE. It is working for me and making a half pound to pound a week average very…

Super food. Especially for athletes. High in plant based protein, low in saturated fat. Good calorie dense food.

Oh.....and intermittent fasting works. 5:2 diet is a GOD send!!

Some of the best common sense words of wisdom I have heard. I usually avoid the regular community boards because of all the negativity and haters. I am a nutritionist and even i was in denial of the need to lose 50 pounds. My friends and family gasp! 50? no....you mean 30. NO!! 50! I am no longer in denial about that AND…

With respect to nutrient value only. Calories are a measurement of energy. Your body is designed to use carbohydrates as fuel first. The more substance to the carbohydrate the slower it is to digest and convert to fuel. Protein is used by every cell in your body but will not likely be used as energy until the carb stores…

When you lose you need to re-evaluate TDEE after every 5 pounds and adjust. The less you weigh the less you need. ALL94LBB has been doing this a long time. She has it down when it comes to heavy exercise.

A woman does NOT need 2000 calories a day that is very misleading. You dont know enough about her to make that statement. Try 5:2. There are LOTS of success stories and real supportive people to help. Plus you will have so much energy you cant help but exercise.

Phone mostly. And just when I can. I can remember everything pretty well so I never worry about omissions.

Starvation mode as it is tossed around is a myth. I have never seen a fat anorexic. (not trying to be funny because that is very serious). You will lose your body fat as part of the starvation process and muscle mass but if you protect your muscle mass a LCD will also work.
-
FALSE. You can lose fat and protect your lean muscle mass.

Watch the full documentary Eat Fast and Live Longer. Health benefits , HELL yes!! Energy through the roof, exercise easier and I WANT to do it on this arrangement. It is sustainable and works. Best thing I ever did. It is not a free for all o your non fast days. You must still eat a reasonable, healthy diet. The difference…

I went with the one that Oprah recommended. It was 60.00. Funny story, it works well but is tight (thats how it works of course) and since it is a front clasp I have "punched" myself in the face a few times, lol. It is tricky.

Patience. Patience. Patience. The difference will be noticeable when it is. I am not going to give you dieting advise even though I have a degree in nutrition and can....but dont always believe what other people say about how much you are eating. When you get to the right level you will know.

Ha ha funny it thinks the name of the sporting goods store is inappropriate!

I bought mine at ****s Sporting Goods. A Livestrong 8.0. I LOVE it!! Best thing I ever did and dont miss the gym at all!!
-
It works and I just broke a month long plateau by adding a 3rd "fast" day and getting into ketosis. Aside from weight loss there is a TON of evidence based research on the health benefits of intermittent fasting.

No true for everyone. Blanket advise is not always correct. You have to know yourself. If I eat more than 1100 a day I gain weight. Its my reality. You have to take genetics, activity level and personal response to food to get an accurate goal. I wouldn't eat less to lose faster though. Find what level you need to be at…

Fantastic! I noticed you didnt share your personal method. i am sure there are others who could benefit from your success!!
-
Great job!! Keep it going and you can reward yourself with even smaller shorts each year!!
-
@debbielyn63 I am at a plateau and going through the same with 20 more to go. Congrats on your achievement btw. If you want to friend me we can break it together. I have learned a few tricks from some other 5:2 friends and I am definitely not starving. :-)

Until you see the documentary and understand the science it will seem counter intuitive. I am a trained nutritionist and I was scared to death to tell anyone I was doing it but the science convinced me. It WORKS and I have NEVER felt so good or had so much energy!!
-
FAntastic!!
-
Ha ha, it sucks that we cant take that into consideration when we calculate our BMI!! Doesnt matter anyway.....if there is fat on the frame it can be reduced.
-
I am so happy for you!! My story is very similar. I am 5 months in and getting there. I LOVE 5:2 and all the energy.
-
Ha ha, I am finally starting to feel like my F cups and turning into DD's. I know how you feel.

Runners world .com has articles and tips on how to get started without getting hurt which of course is the most important thing.

Wow, if you all think that everyone is the same you're way off. The negative perception of people that eat VLC is crazy. Some people have adapted to eat VLC and prefer it and it is really none of your business.
-
Cucumbers!! I've been addicted since starting the 5:2 diet. I eat them every day!! YUM
