Agreed. And when you pile on the stuffing, gravy, and potatoes (all comfort foods that I rarely eat) I can see it happen. Add to that the fact that I tend to eat mindlessly while visiting...

Thanks for the suggestion. I would, however, disagree on your limited experience. It sounds like you've come a long way. I used Couch to 5k two years ago in preparation for a triathlon. I may just give it another go.

I don't like feeling weak. I'd rather feel more firm. I didn't like the direction the scale was going. I don't like shopping for new clothes. I'm only 5'0" and every pound counts.

I plan on working out for the rest of my life because I know what happens when I don't.

I never thought of it this way but it is so true. SW: 137 CW: 130 GW: 125

Ditto.

I looked this one up and it looks pretty good. I'm going to give it a try Thursday.

Apples are a wonderul thing to eat - I eat one nearly every day. Try not to eat for a couple of hours before bedtime. Your body needs to be recharging and not digesting food.

Thanks for posting. I'm thin skinned (cold weather actually gives me hives) but this just may have encouraged me enough to give running in the snow a try.

My vote would be lifting (which can be a cardio event in itself). As we age our bodies tend to lose muscle mass. Building muscle allows us to remain fit and healthier for the long haul.

Love this. Thanks for sharing.

Agreed. Wearing correct fitting underclothes makes a big difference. If you're not sure about getting rid of some of your clothes buy a clear Rubbermaid tote and store them for a little while.

The best way to get rid of a bad thought is to replace it with a good one. Change your focus to something else and you can shift your obsession to something else.

Keep walking and eating fewer calories. As you walk (or occassionally jog) keep in mind that at least one person that sees you is thinking "man I wish I had the nerve to do that" or possibly "well if they can do it, so can I". Self confidence comes when we stop focusing on ourselves. Get lost in the activity, or music, or…

The kettlebell does sound a bit advanced (and scary). You can start with pushups, squats, and side planks with no equipment and very little room.

I bought a box of Twinkies and ate five on the way home. Upon arrival I had two more. I finished up the box first thing the next morning.

I intend to eat slowly and stop eating before I feel overly full. Any time I stretch my stomach it takes a while for me to get back into the groove again. I will not cheat beause I'd only be cheating myself.

I eat lots of eggs. I also like to eat an apple a day (preferably Braeburn).
-
I'm able to do 10 regular pushups (without falling to my knees). Also - I put on a pair of pants today that I haven't been able to fit into for a year.

It is interesting how we can sometimes feel sooo hungry. I'm hoping that you had some veggies or something sensible and didn't overindulge. It could take your stomach a little time to shrink to where it should be. I also hope that you and amberdextriou could be friends. It sounds as if you'd be good support for one another.

There may be no change on the scale but you're probably getting stronger. Hope you have a better week for eating this week.

We all need rest days and it doesn't make us losers. Count the time that you are intentionally exercising and not just going about your day.

Turkey meatloaf. Use barbeque sauce instead of catsup for a nice kick.

Thanks for sharing. We all go through valleys at times and as long as you're starting over and not giving up, you're on the right track.

Wonderful that you're seeing progress - and especially that you're feeling progress. Keep up the good work.

Congratulations on figuring this out so early in your adult life. Great work.

Last month at a family picnic there was a 'train' for the kiddos. My young niece could not ride by herself so Aunt Jane to the rescue. I attepmted to lower my bum into the seat and - while I did make it - she had to sit on my lap instead of between my legs. The only thing that made this embarrassing was that I had…

I lean towards apples. I tend to eat them more slowly and they fill me up.

More fitness equipment, gadget, swim suit, etc.
