  • You are an inspiration and you look so beautiful. I love the lace top :) of course this is all my opinion... I agree with the others, if you feel good and look healthy, no you are not too skinny. My mom lost a lot of weight when I was in my teens and she was in her mid to late 30's... I think she lived on tuna and melba…
  • Welcome... MFP is a great group. I have been so encouraged. I am about 60 lb overweight and 45 yrs young. I have arthritis in my right knee and back issues -- scoliosis in my upper back, so I have to be careful with the low back, it is also slightly curved. i had a work comp injury in January so I am on weight restrictions…
  • "With just over 10 lbs to go until I hit goal, I expected that I would be feeling better about my appearance by now? Grrr! Perhaps it is just my attitude that needs adjusting, not just my body! For those who are *close to goal* or on maintenance, when did you start to feel "not fat"? " ...That is what I am concerned about.…
  • Oh my I love Fage yogurt.... So satisfying!!
  • Since I have been overweight for so long and never in the last 17 years been at a weight I felt I looked good at.... well even then at 165 I think I thought I was fat.(my 'thinnest') I was a size 10 but thought I should lose more weight but I didn't have the knowledge I have now about carbs, fats, proteins.. balance etc. I…
  • This is a great post and something I am also trying to remember. I say to myself that food is fuel, I am eating healthy, I make healthy choices (not.. I'm fat, I need to diet, I'm ugly etc -- told that by many over the years so I am trying to replace old bad info with new positive info). When I started MFP I wanted to eat…
  • Thanks for the encouragment. I found a great site after I posted this question.... http://www.nowloss.com/Weight_Loss_foods.htm that lists foods that can help lose weight. Has great info about complex carbs, eating raw veges and fruit is best, what ones are good etc. I felt better after reading y'alls posts and reading…
  • "And don't forget.... even if the scale doesn't move.... make sure you measure. The week I didn't lose any lbs. (according to my scale).... I still lost inches. " Leslie... that is good advice. I havene't measured yet. Just doing lbs. But after reading this I think I will change that. I did notice a pair of pants fit…
  • I am 5' 3 and 208. I have jeans that are 14 some up to 18. My shirts 18/20 are too big, 14/16 are snug (I am a 38DD though) I do think we all vary, I gain in my mid section, I have friends who are pear shaped, I am more apple. Plus I am short waisted to boot. Kelle
  • I agree Shannon, i love my Skechers flip flops. So comfy. I did buy a pair of shape ups to work in (waitress, 8 hrs a day). I saw a difference in my legs and butt. I like them, comfy, no back pain. I feel like the live up to their claims.
  • In doing some research on line (my bad that I don't have the exact sites, but some are mayo clinic, women's sites and md sites..) What I am reading is that most weight loss is contributed to less calories. The excercise is good for the heart, lungs, bones, and over feeling good but if say I need to eat 1200 calories a day…
  • Would like to join this thread.... I am 45yrs young, 5 ' 3. I am at 209 right now. Started at 214.5 and started MFP at 211. I am apple shaped - gain in my midsection mostly which I know is the most hazardous. so far my numbers at the Dr are ok with cholesterol and all that, amazingly enough.... but I hate the way I look at…
  • Good for you. I am 45 and 5'3 I am also apple shaped.... I always say I gain weight like a man does -- in the mid section. I do like how supportive MFP folks have been. I would like to send a friend request to you.
  • postotah.... I don't think that is lame at all. I usually have a small snack -- an apple and cheese stick, or a 50 cal 12 carb V-8 fusion (to help with my desire for something sweet). Last night I had plain yogurt with frozen blueberries and a sprinkle of granola .
  • I used to do that when I was wanting to stop my night time snacks. It works. I also used to crochet to keep my hands busy.
  • Victoria.. thank you for the suggestion. I have added the over 40 group and this group to My Topics. I started at 214.5, started MFP at 211. Currently holding at 209.5, was down to 208 so my weight loss ticker shows 7 lb but its its only 5.5. Started October 3rd with walking with a friend 3x a week. Do weight training and…
  • New to this as well. Sorry to hear about your injury... good luck on your journey through a healthy lifestyle change. I am 45, have 60 lbs to lose. Lost 7, got all excited then the scale shows 1.5 lb gain. Not sure if I am eating enough calories... crazy I know. I hear about starvation mode so not sure if my body is doing…
  • I read in tears.. I am a size 18- 20, I am only 5'3, i am 45 yrs old. I have a son with Aspergers and sensory processing disorder. I have a daughter too. God blessed me with children late in life. I realize I want to keep up with them and chase them and not get winded after a 10 minute jump on our trampoline. I am making…
  • Since I am new to this site and have been a yo yo dieter ... I can work out like crazy eat salads and lose weight then it comes back. The last couple years I have been trying to balance my proteins, fats and carbs. I like the site for that - assuming it is going with some kind of RDA recommended amounts for 1200 calorie…
  • That sounds yummy haven't tried that yet. I ususally do 1/2 an apple cut up (granny smith is good) with a dash of cinnamon, and if you like a few slices of almonds on top. I got the recipe from a Zone cookbook. the almonds are good fat, carbs in the apple, cinnamon isgood for you, It reminds me of warm apple pie. I really…
  • I have a recipe for homemade applesauce in the crockpot. I have not tried it with less sugar though. Now that I am trying to lose weight though I will need a low sugar version. I usually use 6 -8 medium apples, cored, peeled and sliced thin. I put them in the crock with 1/2 C water, 1/3 C sugar (I use raw) and about 2 tsp…

  • I am new to this, can you help me understand what it is to eat your excercise calories, or half of them. Thanks
  • I am also new to the group. A couple friends also told me about this. I love how easy it is to keep track of calories and such. I am on a laptop so if I am going somewhere I will put info in so I know what to choose. I don't have the phone app yet (old cell) One day at a time is great advice. Do you have a plan for healthy…
