  • Oh man. That's not fun at all. I hope you find some solution for that. I didnt know PF had such a long rehab period. Sorry.
  • I'm possibly going to take swim lessons and hit the gym. I hope to get off the boot soon! I'm hoping I can do non standing yoga poses and work on that yoga core. I'm going to have to track mileage on my shoes. So far, I changed my shoes when I felt it in my knees or I had some random aches after a run. I think with the…
  • I'm a fairly new runner too. Just 18 months into it. I used Hal Higdon's novice 10k plan after the couch to 5k. I continued doing 3 runs a week for three weeks before realising I need something to motivate me. Hal's plan worked for me. Also, do sign up for the race. Even if you are slow, races keep you motivated. 12 mins…
  • Phenomenal. Wow. Clap clap gasp gasp! It's such an astounding feat, I'm sure you are super proud of yourself and you should be too. Ultra running and keeping at it isn't something for the faint hearted! I read your 100k report that you posted last time and wondered how anyone can be motivated to try running 100 kilometres…
  • I went in thinking it was Plantar fasciitis but unfortunately it isn't :( I liked the older version of the Pegasus (30) better too but this 31 isn't too bad. It just bothers me when I lace it differently than I'm used to. It also fit snug and took a week for me to break into the new design but since then I've had no…
  • @iporter229 - He didn't mention inserts. He just said the shoes didn't have enough support for the arches. I'll see how I feel after I recover and if the issue persists I'll look at the inserts. I was wondering how there could be a potential issue with a brand of shoes that I have always run in. I didn't drastically…
  • Thanks everyone! I will start slowly when I'm cleared to run and go by what my foot tells me. Right now, I'm just staying put. I don't want to try and start a new activity that I know nothing about to cross train. I'd rather spend a couple of weeks without doing much and then figure out what activity I can try. I really…
  • I would have skipped Thursday's run and done the long run on Friday. I always move runs around and sometimes do my long runs on Fridays or Saturdays instead of Sunday. No issues so far.
  • I had the same issue after running especially while I was still trying to lose weight. I posted the same question on the bridge to 10K forum and found out that it's what I eat right after I run that makes an impact. I now always try to get something with a carb/protein balance in 45 mins after I run. I now do a lot of…
  • I see the difference. Keep at it! In a year there will be people who will not recognize you.
  • Half Marathons! I hate 5k races because I don't get to slow down at all!
  • What an inspiration!
  • Wow! Keep going. Look back only to see how far you have come. You are such an inspiration.
  • Everything out there makes me dry mouthed and thirsty. The only exception being the chocolate flavoured Cliff shot gels or Gu or some tiny candy bars. I have exercise induced migraines and I found out that I don't have one if I get some sugars in at miles 4 and 10 during a HM distance. The best part is I feel fine at mile…

  • A big group of us were stopped during the Dallas marathon to let traffic pass. It was on an uphill part of the course and everybody was mad! Not that any of us were going for a place(2:40HM) but they stopped us for 3-4 minutes to let a whole lot of cars pass. It took a while for everyone to get the zing back. This was mile…
  • Wow! Amazing race. I'm sorry about the DNF, but you are a winner in my books! Thank you for posting this.
  • I hear you. I have done this while on vacation in India. Not that people don't run in Indian cities but I was on a hectic travel schedule and I was mainly in remote areas where nobody runs. The month off running took it's toll though. I had to come back and spend 3-4 weeks getting back into it. Btw, are there air…
  • I'm the same height and at that starting weight I too was given 1200 cals by MFP. I used to exercise 5Xweek though and I ate back exercise cals with some remaining cals. On the one rest day, I used to eat 1400. I think it all evened out because I did lose that weight.
  • Do you guys run and lift alternate days? I'm having to stretch A LOT more running. It's probably the cold weather or the workout making my hamstrings tight. I need to try foam rolling religiously. My trainer swears by it for runners esp after strength workouts.
  • Do you have any indoor facility that you can drive to? I like an indoor jogging track better than a treadmill. I have one closeby and it was a lifesaver during triple digit summer temp days.

  • I definitely will. My plan is to continue running the current weekly mileage without adding to it and working on strength. I will let you know how things go.
  • I'm training for my second half marathon, running 20-23 miles per week and just did day 1 of this program. Boy I'm so sore! Btw, I started because a fellow runner in the long distance runners group that I'm a part of suggested this program. I read up and got really interested. She says it made her a stronger runner. I'm…
  • Wonderful! Keep going!

  • Wow! Congratulations!! Awesome running. Can't wait to try a full marathon, this is something that I probably will never do. Kudos to your determination and hard work.
  • Thank you for your responses. Thanks for suggesting the group and also for the reading lists. I will definitely look into everything you have said. Thanks a lot for the video link. I now know what technical terms I need to use with the trainer. I just joined the MFP group for strong lifts. I have had great success with MFP…
  • I didn't track distances while working on C25k. My goal was to complete the timed version. After I completed, I've been using mapmyrun with no issues. I also use random music apps in combination. I had an iPhone5, just upgraded to a 6.
  • Finally, I found my thread! I thought it was lost forever :) Dear experienced runners, Thank you all for your expert advice. Just like most of you suggested, I rewound my plan to run my long runs starting at 7 miles. I did a 10 miler last weekend. My 10k is in a couple of weeks and it falls on a day that I have to run a 5…
  • I'm there! Running the half! I don't have any tips for you but wanted to wish you. Good luck and I'm sure you'll wing it.
  • Thank you for this! It's my first winter out and about and I need clothes help. The RW what to wear link really helped.
  • Not sure if running speed matters. I'm slow, btw. I run 12 min miles. I used to wear a HRM to Zumba and used to burn 600-700 cals in there sometimes. I'm assuming I do around 500 per session now. Added to that, I run around 20ish miles a week. With all that burn, if I don't eat I feel starved and then its a slippery slope.…
