Injury question - possible stress fracture
A little background - started with couch to 5k in dec 2013, did a 5k in April 2013, 10k in May and first half in September. I used Hal Higdon's beginner plans for the 10k and half. I just continued the same beginner half plan from half way through as suggested on here after I started a thread. I ran a couple of half…

Strength training anyone?
Folks, I need to get back in the gym. I have a shoulder issue for which I NEED to work on building some muscles. I did go that route last year, joined, got a personal trainer and worked for a few months but all I got to do was squats, lunges and some free weights and work on machines. We never got to a point of having a…

Half marathon over, now what?
I ran my first half this past weekend(2:40). Now I have no "plan" to follow, for the first time since I started running nine months ago. It was c25k and then a 5k race, 10K training and race, HM training right after that and race. I found a 10k I'd like to run for thanksgiving and a HM in the first week of December. I…

Tom Tom Running Watch
This Ad just popped up on Facebook for me, for a running watch/HRM with no chest strap. Here is a URL to the product page - http://www.sunplay.com/TomTom-Runner-Cardio-GPS-Watch-p/1ra0.001.htm?1=1&CartID=0 I've never heard of it but would like to see if anyone on here has used it. I'm thinking of a GPS watch and thought…

Shoe woes
I started my C25K program in a Nike Pegasus back in Dec. I love the Pegasus. It felt great, like walking on air! A couple of weeks before my 10k race this past Sunday, my feet starts hurting and I could feel my feet hitting the pavement, which was not the case earlier(I hope I described that sensation right). I knew right…

Half in sept, marathon in Dec?
Hi all, I'm a new runner. I started in Dec with Couch to 5k. Completed that in nine weeks and did 3miles twice and 2 miles once a week for a few weeks. Late April I started 10k training with Hal Higdon's plan. I ran my first 5k last month(34 mins) and am running my first 10k on Sunday. I can run the entire 10k if I pace…

Gels/salt/electrolyte I'm confused.
I'm a newbie runner. So far, I've run with just water. Now, I'm dehydrated during even short runs(Texas heat/humidity). This is my first summer as a runner. I don't want the lack of preparedness to kill my endurance. I researched electrolytes and I'm overwhelmed by the stuff out there. I generally do only Gatorade…

Bra help needed.
Ladies - what kind of running bras are good for summer runs. So far, I just wore the champion ones from target or the kohls ones. Yesterday, half way through my 6 miler, I was terribly uncomfortable in a champion. Sweat just stayed in the bra making me very uncomfortable. At the end of the run I was itching and scratching…

Ran my first race today!
Although I technically completed the programme a couple of months ago and have started running longer distances, I never actually signed up for a race. Today, I ran a 5k along with my hubby and a friend. My hubby zipped past us and completed the race in 25 mins but my friend and I kept each other company and ebbed each…

Sore calves
Hi all, I completed the c25k program on March 2nd. I have been running 2.7-3 miles thrice weekly since I completed the program. I did majority of the program on an indoor track. I started running outside a couple of weeks ago. After yesterday's run, I seem to have a tight/sore/achy feeling in my legs. I would like to say…

News - woman asked to cover her toned body in the gym?
I dont know what to make out of this news item. Most often I'm trying to cover up because I'm not yet happy in my own skin and here is someone who is comfortable in her own body and now she needs to cover up because she is intimidating others. Apparently that's the gym's policy, to not intimidate people.…

Post C25k group
Hi all, I love all the support I got from all of you during my c25k training. Now that I've graduated and am not doing the bridge to 10k plan I was wondering if there are other running groups that you are all a part of here on MFP. I'm trying to increase my weekly mileage base to a good 15 miles slowly and then give half…

Is this a good plan?
I graduated yesterday! Yippee for me! I ran 3.2 miles in the 35 mins run yesterday. What I plan to do is run 35 mins every other day this week and increase my run time to 40 mins next week. I plan to increase my run times by 5 mins until I hit 60 mins. Is that a good game plan? I have no races that I have signed up for. I…

The I can't do it feeling
Hi all, I need a lot of motivation. I did week 7 day 2 today (5k runner). Both day 1 and day 2 were 20 mins runs with 5 mins warm up and cool down. I didn't feel exhausted or pain but I felt like I just have to stop after about 15-16 mins. I just could not do it. I had to push myself through it. I did it but I kept…

App to track distance
I'm using the timed version of C25K app for the iPhone(5K runner). I have no idea about the distance I'm covering or my pace. Does anybody know of an iPhone app that I can use in the background for this? I looked at nike+ but looks like that app has alerts. I don't need any alerts as the 5K runner alerts me during the…

Training on an indoor rubberized track
Hi all, I just finished w5d1 today. I run on an indoor track. I'm wondering what I can do to transition to outdoor running in spring. Do I re start the program just like folks who started on the treadmill. Is it going to be a dramatic change, the indoor track versus outdoor running? I have terrible allergies and will run…

Zumba since April wanting to start running
Hi all, I've been off the couch since April and am still at it(yeah for me). I take two one hour Zumba toning classes and two regular Zumba classes a week at my gym. I used to do two 30 mins strength training sessions but had to stop those because of a muscle spasm in my shoulder since August. My shoulder still bothers me…
