Zumba since April wanting to start running

Hi all,
I've been off the couch since April and am still at it(yeah for me). I take two one hour Zumba toning classes and two regular Zumba classes a week at my gym. I used to do two 30 mins strength training sessions but had to stop those because of a muscle spasm in my shoulder since August. My shoulder still bothers me intermittently, if I sleep in the wrong position or carry too much weight with my right arm. I am keen on starting the couch to 5k program and doing a 5k run with my daughter for her school district this May. Will the added couch to 5k make it too much cardio, too little strength training for me? My trainer tells me I need to completely be pain free for a three weeks period before restarting strength training.
