  • OP, My hubby of 15 yrs told me sometime last April that he doesn't think guys looked at me anymore. He loves me but the second baby's c-section did a number on me. I love him but his brutal honesty sometimes stings. I hate his honesty at times. Today - I made him EAT HIS WORDS. I was at the mall with my older one and…
  • Whoa! What a difference in the two pictures. Keep going, you are amazing.
  • Amazing story! How motivating! Keep going. I love reading such success stories.
  • I was also dancing zumba 5-6 times a week and strength training a little when I started the program. The zumba helped me get off the couch! I think because of zumba I didn't have as much muscle pain and aches when I started C25K. I had an injury on my shoulder so I was not doing any strength training for a few months but I…

  • Amazing. Congrats on a great HM!!!!!
  • Congrats! I would totally wear that medal like skin for the rest of the week! Such an inspiring story to start the week. I'm just training for my first half but hope to someday share my first marathon story here.
  • My plan after graduating was to increase 5 mins every week or two until I could do an hour non stop. I tried the 5k-10k plan but could not do it. I felt the walking breaks after 15 mins just didn't work for me. Even now, I can't take walking breaks and start back :( I did increase 5 mins but had to slow down a lot to hit…
  • I think you'll do great. I also started off with C25k in late December last yr. I didn't sit up for a race right away because I couldn't even run 1/10th of a mile completely( that was the size of the track I trained on). I completed the program, dragged my feet and then joined a running group. Signed up for a 5k in May.…
  • AutumnFilly20, I would google for a local running shoe store. Chains like Academy etc do have running shoes but apparently the local non chain stores have more knowledgeable staff. Btw, do look into the return policy. I had to get refitted recently because the new shoes that were recommended for me didn't work. I had it…

  • I just got refitted for these as well. Yet to get mine but I'm excited to try!

  • Congrats in starting. I am a SAHM who started this program from the far end of the couch this past December. I just ran a 10k last weekend and have started training for a half marathon. If I can do it, I'm sure anyone can. This forum is great. I'm glad you joined. ^ Added - I was such a couch potato after a pregnancy spent…
  • Great! Which one did you end up buying?

  • Hmmm. Maybe I'm used to the Pegasus and other shoes don't gel well with me! I hope I find it soon, I'm left with my old pair for now. Thankfully I can still do small runs in them.

  • I get your point. The store I went to is not a small specialty store, it's a chain. I went back in there today and they don't have the Pegasus wide. I got store credit. The rep asked me to try a brooks ghosts and that felt good in the store but I wanted 1/2 a size bigger and they didn't have that. They are looking for…

  • The cumulus 16 is what troubled me. I need a wider Pegasus. I'm thinking of trying the mens version.

  • Go for it! Just don't give up on a bad day. Even seasoned runners have bad runs. Accept bad runs and move on! This forum is simply amazing! One of the best decisions I made was to join. Read all the sticky threads over and over. Some of the tips there helped me finish the program. Two I remember really helped are - slow…

  • I danced Zumba on XT days. I'm training for a half starting today. Zumba is still my XT of choice. Adding strength is good, btw. It is important to strengthen your muscles to be a better runner

  • Thanks! I loved the race. All the energy from the spectators around definitely felt good.
  • Honestly, I thought the shoe store people knew what they were saying! Btw, thanks for tipping me about the return policy. I called the store. They have the same policy. I can return these and try to find the Pegasus!

  • I guess I'll do that if I ever find them somewhere on clearance! Thanks for clarifying.

  • I don't have that issue in TX! I'd love some summer running tips though. I'm doing the bulk of my HM training in peak summer and was thinking of doing it on an indoor track a couple of times a week and outside very early or very late in the day a couple of times a week. I hate running when the sun is burning down on me.…
  • I agree with the saying! I'm looking at HH's half marathon plan too. I like how simple novice one is. I may be able to finish and add a couple of extra weeks before I have to taper for the race.
  • I did look through a lot of plans for both the 10k and HM. What I love about Hal's novice plans are that I can actually understand what it means. I'm such a newbie that I don't understand complex running jargon, like 4*100 blah blah. I have no idea what all that means. Hals plan says this many miles today. I can get that.…
  • Oh no. I'm so sorry you have to sit it out so close to the game. It must be hard to let go. But I'm glad you found out ahead of time and didn't start the race and then feel ill. This way, you can recover, take it easy and then train for the next half once you are cleared. I'm sure your running group will be around then and…
  • Ted, Thanks for that! Wow that's a lot of miles a week. I don't know if I will ever find that much of time but I guess I'll have to make time. What training plans did you use for your HMs? Which one are you using for your full? I'm thinking of doing at least 2/3 HMs before starting dedicated training for a full. I hope it…
  • Lol. I promise I won't take thaaaat long! I'll try the half a couple of times before deciding but it won't be later than end of next year or early 2016.
  • Thank you all so much for the FB! I'm going to stick to the HMs until I know I can comfortably run a full! Like someone suggested, running a few 5/10ks after the HM and do it fast sounds like much more fun! I'll suggest this to my friend. Thank you all, once again!
  • Congrats!
