I was in a very similar situation until just few weeks ago. Some positive progress is really the best motivation there is, IMO. Get back in the habit of logging everything (EVERYTHING!) even if you can't cut back quite yet. This will enable you to view which meals, times of day, specific foods, etc are the most challenging…

I don't know if this is the case with your monitor but I had a Polar monitor a few years back that only tallied the calories burned while you were in your target HR zone. Could that be a factor? Even if you're not in your zone, your still burning cals, so I always felt cheated by that feature. Hang in there!!!
