  • bump for later- these sound great!
  • I am 5'4" and I am aiming for 150. As I get smaller I will continually reassess though. I want to be what is considered a "healthy" weight, but will also settle for whatever looks/feels good.
  • I am not huge on candy bars, but you can get that kind of taste by eating a square of chocolate with some peanuts. The squares I have are 29 calories each and then I weight out something like a quarter of a serving of unsalted roasted peanuts. Makes a nice little treat.
  • I don't wear make-up every time I go by any means. However, I have to say, there are days when I do because I feel better when I can look in the mirror and see my eyes standing out rather than disappearing behind my chubby cheeks. It is a silly little thing, but a little waterproof mascara keeps me from sweating it all…
  • I got my Polar last week and I find that it is either close to MFP or that it tells me I am burning more. I do think it depends on you though and how intense you are about working out!
  • Before I got a Heart Rate Monitor I was using "low impact aerobics" to log it. I find with the HRM that low impact underestimates a bit, but I would rather underestimate my calorie burn than overestimate.

  • oh my! I could eat a giant bowl full of that! Guess I will have to skip it so I am not tempted to do just that! :embarassed:
  • Haven't tried Quinoa yet- have some ready when I find the recipe that strikes me as just right!
  • I also think it is important to count them so that you can get a good idea of if you are eating enough fiber! Seems silly, but if I don't strive to get fiber, I am SUPER low on it!
  • I just don't keep much in the house that doesn't fit within my usual healthy lifestyle. If I can't stop thinking about eating a specific thing, I try to find a way to fit it into my calories in a limited amount. For example, once in a blue moon I melt 1/2 or 1 oz of semi-sweet baker's chocolate and dip strawberries in it.…
  • To each their own- but I avoid it in general because of the sodium and because I simply don't know the ingredients (who knows what is in some of it!) However, some days, a big fat greasy cheeseburger just has to be eaten! When I crave them I make a burger with lean meat at home instead of going out for them!
  • There are also some decent carb balance tortillas out there that you can use to make wraps. These are also usually high in fiber (think 12 grams of fiber!), which is a nice way to get a little extra of that in. La Tortilla Factory even makes one with whole wheat so you can avoid the enriched flour in some of the other ones.
  • I hadn't thought about the photos this way, but now that you say this, I totally agree. Also, when people are asking if you can see a difference they may be needing the motivation to keep going because they themselves aren't seeing it. Also, in regard to the food- people do blindly comment, but I do have to say that there…
  • Based on the advice of others, if you are wanting to get in some toning in addition to the cardio that C25K will give you, you may consider looking for a slower paced ab routine than the 30 day shred- that way you can combine toning/strength from the beginning without killing yourself.
  • Hello everyone! I think 50 is doable depending on where you are in your weight loss journey. I would LOVE to lose that much, but am truly aiming for 30 more by then. I welcome anyone to friend me who is seeking/providing encouragement and motivation. (Negative Nellys need not apply!) :D
  • Thanks for the feedback- will repost later when I have better photos. I do walk/run a decent amount along with other things- I am definitely hoping that the next 30lbs shows more obvious change!
  • Again has been my mantra for several years- trying to break that this year!
  • I am on board with all the people who say it depends on the instructor- I also say it depends on the music. I tried several classes and was not into it at all. Then I went to one with an awesome instructor who uses less latin music and a lot more current radio hits. She tries to keep it challenging by including floor work,…
  • I do have to say that when I was involved in martial arts the "kiyop"-ing didn't bother me a bit, but in the regular gym I try to avoid letting out the grunts I sometimes feel. On occasion one will slip out from old habit, but very rarely. My personal pet peeve is people on the treadmill who are talking on their cell…
  • This is a preliminary "I am in!" I will be starting either tomorrow or Monday- need to look more closely at the calendar to determine what day I want to rest. Start Date: Soon Projected End: In a little while Following Nutrition Guide: Not likely- though will definitely read through it and take advice from it Starting…
  • Almost any granola you make is going to be al little high in calories- sadly that is the nature of granola! So, I would definitely focus on healthy ingredients that give you something you may be missing elsewhere in your diet. My granola includes dried cranberries or dried cherries. And one tip is to use Non-Stick foil-…
  • The first time I ever really ran was in Tae Kwon Do- so I didn't have a choice! That was always short little jaunts though that I was the last one in the group to finish. As I tried to lose more and more weight I added running to my days. That was back in college. I am trying to get back to running again, but a little…
  • I have been fortunate that I have a friend who gives me old clothes from time to time- so if you know anyone who has lost weight or typically has garage sales every year, you may ask them if they would be willing to let you take a look at some things. I am probably all set for about 30 more lbs before things stop fitting!…
  • I read one of these in college- loved it!! Need to add these to my to-read list!
  • This thread has gotten super long and who knows who is reading the posts way back here at the end of the line! However, I will put out there the list of things I read in case I manage to touch on something no one else did. I read a lot, ranging from Young Adult to Romance Here are a few of my recommendations by Author…
  • You look great! I can barely see a difference in my body after 30 lbs lost! I hold my weight too compactly I think!
