  • Thanks for all the input guys, wow! I'm not really trying to lose much more weight at this point. (I mean hey, I wouldn't complain if I lost a few more but who wouldn't, right? It's not my end-goal now though) But I'm on MFP just to keep a weekly record of my weight and really more to keep track of my fitness. So it's not…
  • No - and you guys are all convincing me maybe I should get one! I use Nike+GPS. It does tell me calories burned but pretty sure I never entered my weight so not sure how it knows that. So what exactly is an HRM? Like one of those wrist bands? Is it better than using the Nike+GPS?
  • Wow that is so incredible - good for you, keep it up!!! Inspirational!
  • it's a great program - I used it years ago to back into running and occasionally use it now to increase my speed. Good luck!
  • Love this thread!!!! And this is such a funny comment about jimmies b/c I thought it was a New England thing... I'm from CT and every time I ask for Jimmies around here, ppl look at me strangely!!! (In Philly!) How about the MAC machine... instead of the ATM. I had to get used to that when I moved here.
  • I don't know if it helped me lose but it helped me keep more weight off. I gained 65 lbs with my first pregnancy and didn't work out AT ALL. With my second and last one, I had already been working out... I gained 40 lbs instead and ate the same way. So I do think that working out helped in that I gained less. I always…
  • np, if you get there let us know how you like it! I think step's a ton of fun!
  • So this is how mine goes in! It's long a "favorite" now so I just check it off but I imagine maybe I searched on "step aerobics" or something? Try this? I've tried to put Kettlebells in before and I don't think they have that in the database yet: "Aerobics, step, with 10-12 inch step"
  • Oh that's just what MFP tells me based on my current weight!! But I do know a girl in my Step class who uses some sort of calorie burner watch and it typically tells her around 500 calories as well. Don't know the product name tho - sorry!
  • I worked out through my last pregnancy. I simply kept to what I was already doing - not pushing too hard but maintaining what I was used to doing. I think if you have already been doing those videos and make sure your heart rate keeps to a certain level (ask your doc) that you are good to keep working out.
  • I go to a couple of Step classes each week! It burns a lot! I went today and I burned 567 calories in a 55 minute class. I use a 10-12 inch step (1-2 risers). It's tons of fun too!
  • Only when I need it. I swear by Athleta - they know how to make nice looking & functional clothes. I couldn't run without my arm band too - saw you were thinking about one. Couldn't imagine having to hold my iPhone! I have a Belkin one I got on Amazon.
  • Yes! Every time I diet in recent years, it takes me a good 2-3 weeks to start to lose. Very frustrating that first week when you're really inspired and working hard. I know that feeling of wanting to give up but stick with it!! Maybe try and just not weigh in for awhile. I did that this time around - didn't weigh in for…
  • I'm in the SAME boat. I just blogged about this actually on my site (http://www.mommieswithstyle.com/damn-you-37-year-old-body-or-why-is-it-so-hard-to-lose-one-stinking-pound/) But I think for me it has to do with age (I'm 37) and may unfortunately be a bit of the issue for you too. It's just not as easy when you're…
  • My Step class instructor had Zombie Step the other day... she brought all of these ripped shirts and pants for us to wear while stepping! I just wore the shirt but it was kind of fun and easy to still work out
  • I have it for the Wii! I don't think it's bad. But I've never done had another game system other than a Wii. I did hear it's better on Playstation. I just end up doing Just Dance more b/c it's easier to get it out and no mat required
  • Jessica! Yes! I have DDR too and often do that as well. That's also a fab workout! I just like changing it up a lot... I think doing DDR and Just Dance are pretty comparable exercise wise
  • I do it for an hour...
  • welcome to MFP! I used this site last year and lost about 12 lbs. I'm back b/c I'm a few lbs up - love it here! And I have done C25k before and am a runner, that's also a great program for beginner runners. Good luck!
  • Once a week or every 8-9 days even. I find I get discouraged if I step on the scale every day. The small up or down discourages/frustrates me so I try and hold off and only weigh every now and then so I'm hopefully getting the bigger picture number... it's sometimes to hold off stepping on tho when I've had a few good days!
  • It's a great program! I did it a few years ago after having taken like 4-5 years off from running. Felt like I needed to start from scratch. It really eases you into it and you can set yourself up for any pace you want! It truly does work if you follow it - I was back running 5k within a few weeks of using the program
  • That is amazing! Your arms look great - what a difference! wtg!
  • good for you - looking great! isn't it amazing what a difference 20 lbs makes?
  • I'm similar to you - I have it set to 1200 calories a day and I work out 4-5 times a week burning anywhere from 400-600 calories. I try and still keep myself to the 1200 calories and I definitely have had some stalls. But I find that being really patient and giving it a few weeks pays off. I haven't been doing much…
  • you look AMAZING! i can't believe that last photo. you're an inspiration - wtg!
  • Couch to 5k is great when starting out. I use Nike+GPS, it's awesome. It logs your time, chimes in each mile to tell you your pace and gives you encouragement when you're getting close to your goal or running faster than usual. I officially hit 50 miles today (that I've logged on it - not all at once lol!) Highly recommend
  • me too, I love spicy tuna rolls! filling and not so high in calories!
  • Hang in there, Lulu! I came back here (after 6 months off) the first week of January. Logged in for a week, lost almost nothing and got discouraged and stopped dieting. Well several weeks later I was feeling worse than ever... it's like the other poster said, what's the alternative? There is none! I've been back a week now…
  • I'm in! One of my biggest challenges when I fall off my diet is Ginger Ale. I crave it almost every afternoon and have at least one a day when I'm not counting calories. I was able to successfully go off of it last summer (last 13 lbs!) but I'm back up 9 of those lbs so I'm cutting it all out again. 30 days of no soda…
  • Me too! I can't give it up. I've been using this website since May and I've lost 11 lbs, I think that my French Vanilla Coffee Mate creamer is about the only thing I haven't given up. I still lost weight! I tell ppl I sacrifice food calories for coffee :) Not exactly healthy but it's worked. Good luck! If you're able to…
