  • I had the same issue when I lived in NY -- eh, go for baby wipes, dry shampoo, and wear your hair up. :)
  • I TOTALLY get it, and I have the same fears to an extent after a 50+ pound loss. I'm not gonna lie -- maintaining, at least for me and many others, is HARD work, as hard as dieting. I'm having the same issues -- I'm at the top of my weight range but getting lower is extremely difficult, to say the least. I think I am just…
  • I do, but I can't really too often any more. :( As I get closer to my goal weight it's one plateau after another and more than one or two drinks can set me back by a couple of days -- it's really frustrating. The lowest-carb and calorie choice you can make though is about an ounce and a half of liquor (which I think is a…
  • I couldn't install one either -- no permanent drill-in changes right now -- and the Iron Gym, for whatever reason, didn't really hold in my door frame steadily. Every time I started to put weight on it little pieces of paint flaked and it looked like it was going to damage the frame. P90X gives you a substitution option…
  • I'm not doing NROLFW yet -- I'm doing another heavy lifting program (Live Fit) -- and I just want to tell you to hang in there! After my first month I've actually gained a pound, BUT, my measurements are down all over, clothes from 10 pounds lighter now fit me, and I'm eating more and spending SO MUCH less time exercising.…
  • I think it's really up to you and your preferences! Some people like three bigger squares, and others like to graze. It doesn't really make a difference. I like to do meals and snacks, personally, but with that calorie limit then you're going to have to do with smaller main meals. But you could definitely do it -- let's…
  • I think I agree! P90X *looks* hard but I enjoyed it a lot because it is really scale-able -- you can use lighter weights, do fewer reps, rest, etc. The plyometrics cardio workout is insanely hard, but it's only once a week. Insanity is awesome but man, you'd have to think the P90x plyo thing is easy to really enjoy it,…
  • What everyone else said... I "carb-loaded" for a couple days before my first half (same number of calories, but WAY higher carb percentage) and just felt gross. It didn't hurt my performance but it didn't help it either. It was just a bunch of water weight for nothing, pretty much. During the race I ate some Shot Bloks and…
  • That's a good point. I may just log the MFP calculation and take that lower number and go with it.
  • I'm finishing up Jamie Eason's Live Fit Phase 1 and there is NO cardio during that so .... I'm hoping someone has a great answer for us. Haha.
  • YES I am trying to lose the last 15 exactly :) It's insane how the first, oh, 50 came off comparatively easily! Haha. I'm accepting that this part is going to be an extremely slow, gradual road so I'm trying to enjoy the process a little more. Feel free to add me.
  • LMAO!! I am a Winn-Dixie shopper -- more for convenience because it is slightly closer than the nearest Publix, and because they have that gas-savings card! The key is to NEVER ask about anything slightly different, and not to expect too many specialty foods (though the chain is improving in that regards somewhat). The…
  • Same. I have FINALLY come around to not beating myself up over my thoughts over what *other* people may think of my legs -- who cares. I now think of myself as being extremely hard to knock down, in every sense of the word. But yeah, OP, distance running (great for leaning out the lower half) AND resistance training, and…
  • Just like you don't think slim legs = anorexic legs, many of us do not think muscled legs = "chunky" legs either... So judge not, etc.
  • I vote for doing Insanity and just the long training runs if you're really trying to lose inches and you don't care about your time. I find that when I'm spending a lot of time focusing on running/training for a long distance, it's harder to get a handle on my weight. During my half-marathon cycle I just maintained, pretty…
  • I don't love "journey" either but I am verrrrry jealous of anyone whose experience with all this stuff can be described as a "cruise," haha.
  • I would also say Subway is probably a lot cleaner than drive-through chicken strips (barring the subway add-ons like Thousand Island dressing and stuff) :) I don't really count it as "fast food" in my head, I guess -- maybe because it involves getting out of the car? haha.
  • Oh yeah, I'm not saying it has to be either or (though I eat "clean" on the budget of a freelance writer). I'm just saying -- don't discount the opinions of people on the forum whose tickers say only a couple pounds, for instance -- mine only says I've lost two, which is less than 4% of the real story :) Of course, my…
  • I eat out a lot too with few problems -- the nicer the restaurant, the easier this is :) I think the OP was asking ore about people eating the "bad" stuff from fast food places specifically. Interestingly, though, the restaurants with nutrition info posted online are almost always chains, which most often have the…
  • Eh, maybe they started their MFP tickers late in their journey! My ticker says I've only lost two pounds but, 1) my ticker is broken and seems to only move every few weigh-ins, and 2) I started MFP after losing over 50 lbs and getting into the healthy weight range. I surmise that may be the case for some people who advise…
  • I don't really love fast food but I still have the occasional fast food salad (grilled chicken and whatever low fat dressing) if I"m really in a pinch. Unfortunately, I'm at a long-lasting set point for my body and am trying to get off the last 10-15 pounds, so I can't have the "real" stuff (burgers, fries) any more. Even…
  • My calves are naturally muscular and frankly I LOVE it :) They look great in heels... Own em! P.S. for those who have trouble finding boots.... I recommend Zappo's! You can search for boots with wide calves specifically. Of course their return policy is awesome so you can order a few different pairs to try at home (charge…
  • I can assure you I'm not jealous :) I still think it's better to err on the side of NOT eating back all those calories when you get a really high burn calculation, since we can never really get an accurate count of either calories burned or, really, eaten.
  • This is interesting, and from what I've read, true... I wonder how that relates to a program like P90x though which is somewhere in the middle. It's not your typical strength training where you do slow or steady reps -- but it's not exactly cardio where you're flailing around.
  • IMHO that sounds a bit high... I'm decently in shape but not super woman or anything, and on average for legs and back I got a burn according to my HRM of around 400 or 500 an hour. I'm 5'6" and fairly sturdy -- can't tell from your pic but I doubt I'm "tiny" or anything compared to you. :) As the program progressed and I…
  • No offense but if it's happening so rarely that you want to log it as a specific exercise session... Well.... There might be something else to worry about besides the calories burned ;)
  • I hope you had a nice time with your daughter though!! That's really the most important thing for today
  • Mealsnap is an awesome concept but I tried using it for a while before discovering MFP, and it was always off! Or, it would give me calorie ranges like "150 to 400" -- well, there's a big difference between 150 and 400, haha. It's nice to keep a visual diary of your food though.
  • OP Thanks for sharing -- I'm interested in the other items on the list that aren't so weight-related and would be interested to hear from someone struggling with BDD related to face, general looks, etc. I never got a BDD diagnosis when I was dealing with an ED but I wonder if it is coming back to knock me in the *kitten*…
  • It could also be possible that you're eating *too much* if you're eating back all of your exercise calories as calculated by MFP's various burns. I've found that MFP overestimates somewhat on its own, and that one is likely to also overestimate one's own effort ("moderate" whatever vs. "vigorous," etc.) I use a heart rate…
