I hail from just outside of Philadelphia PA. I'm a co-organizer of a local meetup group (www.meetup.com/kickstandsup), and we do lots of local and long distance rides. We have over 500,000 group riding miles logged since our group was formed. I am currently sidelined due to an accident in March, but am getting back in the…

Boy, they look brand new - I guess somebody will be happy when you donate them! You are doing an awesome job! Great NSV!

This sometimes happens to me on the elliptical machine, because I tend to have most of my weight on the front of my foot. When my toes start to get numb I lean back slightly so my weight is on the center of my sole, and the numbness goes away in less than a minute. I don't know if it's circulation or a nerve thing, but…

You are amazing brother! Thanks for sharing what you have learned along the way too. Good luck as you continue working toward your goals!

I only weigh myself on the scale at the gym. It is within 1/2 lb. of my doctor's scale, and gives me a consistent measure.

If you want to do it, then do it. Tell the voices in your head that you are awesome, because you choose to get out and exercise instead of doing nothing like those people watching you. Do what makes you happy, and forget about the rest of them!

I weigh in after every session at the gym...just because I want to. But I only record my weight once a week after either my Saturday or Sunday morning workout.

I'm old...but don't you dare call me mature!

I typically eat one of 3 or 4 different basic things for breakfast (oatmeal, yogurt, egg substitute, whole grain english muffins), and vary them slightly or add some fruit just to get some variety. I usually pack my own food to take to the office for lunch, and if I know what my better half is making for dinner I can tweak…

It very quickly becomes evident which friends are here for mutual support and motivation, and which ones are here simply to lurk around and snoop on everyone else. I tend to keep the former and delete the latter...because they quite simply are not my "friends". If that makes me a snob or a pompous *kitten* in your eyes,…

I am fairly new to running, and have found this to work best for me. After doing a bit of stretching I walk quickly (around 4 mph) for the first 1/8 mile or so, then begin to jog and slowly increase my speed to where I can still breathe evenly but feel like I am pushing myself a little bit. Using this method I have been…

As a SFG (Shrinking Fat Guy) I believe that it is every employer's right (some may say duty) to encourage their associates to lead a healthy lifestyle, but find it offensive that an organization would overtly state this as a condition of employment. Although, in many places it is an unspoken hiring policy...how many 275…

^This! That is the approach I have taken, and I now am running 5k without stopping (after only 3 - 4 months).

I love it that you took the initiative to get your own ride! The more you ride, the better you will get and the more confidence you will have in your own abilities. Be safe and keep the shiny side up!

When you check out the company's website, write down their Mission, Vision, and Core Values if they are displayed there. Then really think about how you can work into the interview aspects of your personality and work ethic that mirror these company values. Also, as an interviewer I look for well rounded applicants, so be…

I use Endomondo. Works great on my android phone. Plays music, gives interval times at each mile, tracks your history. This one has everything I need...and it's free!
