  • I have that issue myself. Not as many times a night (I get up at least twice). But I also have a little trouble falling asleep. Though recently since I've been drinking this ginger tea, I find myself dozing during the day which is not helping me at bedtime. It could be dietary. Are you taking any supplements with caffeine…
  • I want to join...this would be a great way to push me to stay at it! Name Tamara Walker (nyprdiva) Current weight: 229 Goal weight: 155 What you would like to accomplish in 90 day. I'd love to be at least 30 pounds down
  • I just started trying a lifestyle change via Ayurveda. And one of the things that is recommended while weening yourself off of caffeine is Ginger Tea. So I've been drinking Ginger tea all week...3 cups a day sometimes, and I've noticed that I have been falling asleep a lot during the day. Not sure if it is the lack of…
  • Yep those are Tangas. I've been opting to go commando more recently and have been getting the pants with the liners. For some reason just more comfortable that way.
  • Today I did 40 minutes on the elliptical. Just getting back into the gym so I am going to be doing a lot of cardio for the next two weeks to build my stamina.
  • I've decreased my milk intake drastically ever since I started drinking more tea (I drink my tea black) instead of coffee. But I also have been opting for other milk alternatives like Almond Milk. Now that Silk has one, I'm going to see how that is since I do have a lot of oatmeal in the winter.
  • WOW! That's a lot of milk. What are supposed to be the benefits of that?
  • Congrats! You look amazing!
  • lol. I agree. I remember when I was in the Girl Scouts, my troop went to the pool as one of our field trips and this old woman decided it was ok to walk around completely naked and try to have conversations with us with everything out there. Our troop leaders politely guided us away but even now going to the gym I feel…
  • Living in NY you see folks in various stages of undress all the time (hello, Naked Cowboy anyone). but to be honest, I have never seen a breastfeeding woman ever just pop out her breast and start having her kid suckle at it. Every woman I've seen breast feeding in public has done it discretely with the little blanket cover…
  • As of today, 15 miles this week. So far for the month of August 22.5 miles.
  • I'm down. Been recording my times for a few months now. Would love to add this months to the team total
  • And don't forget to watch the types of fats that you are using to cook your food in (say butter, olive oil, corn oil, etc). Those calories add up as well. If you are diligent about portions and logging everything (including the one oreo cookie you allowed yourself to cheat with), you will be surprised how you can better…
  • He's playing a cancer patient going through aggressive chemo. I know you try to be as realistic as possible in acting, but wow. Mind you he wasn't a big guy to begin with.
  • I've seen a few meetups pop up on the forums already. But hey...why not start one in your town or city. I'm trying to organize one in the NYC area.
  • Welcome from a fellow NYer. You've definitely come to the right place. MFP is great. The folks here are supportive and inspirational. The tools are easy to use (this is probably the most complete calorie counter ever). Good luck and I look forward to hearing about your journey.

  • Great. Where are you guys located? I'd be coming from Westchester. Once we know who's interested, we can pick a central area.
  • For those living a little further out than others...would you do something on a quarterly basis where you would meetup in say the closest major city to you? Like. Maybe that would be a fun little thing to look forward to. Those closer maybe able to meet more frequently....say every month or so. And it wouldn't have to be…
  • I guess it's the publicist and networker in me that brought it up. It's kind of like how Weight Watchers and everyone has meetings but instead of weigh-ins, we could talk about struggles and successes, exchange recipes, celebrate milestones, etc. Maybe a monthly thing....a support group kinda sorta.....
  • Arielle, have you tried this site: http://www.localharvest.org/csa/
  • Hmmmm. Never heard of anything like that. You can take breaks which they encourage you to if you feel dizzy/light headed (it takes a day or two to get used to the heat) and there are water breaks during the 90 minute classes. At the end of class you have drank a liter or more of water. As for the injuries (with any yoga)…
  • Things that work for me are fruit, those 100 calories snack packs, walnuts and weight watchers string cheese
  • Great! You're welcome Taylor. Also, not sure if you're into fitness magazines, but I would check out Oxygen Magazine. They are really focused more on the nutrition and fitness side of things versus the glitz and glamour. Yes it is a fitness sport/bodybuilding magazine but it is geared toward women and offers great advice…
  • Just curious...why do you use 2 scoops instead of one? Also, whey does carry some fat but you should be counteracting that with your workout.
  • Welcome! I would suggest you look into the Eat Clean Cookbook by Tosca Reno (if you have access to a kitchen in your dorm, when I was in school I was lucky enough to be in one that had them) and the Wall Street Diet by Heather Bauer. The later is great because it really is a lifestyle change for people who are too busy to…
  • I think the "eating too much fruit thing" is dependent on the person. After recently moving to a more vegetarian lifestyle and talking with a nutritionist and a doctor, both strongly recommended me eating lots of fruits and vegetables of varied kinds and not focus on things like tofu only. Our body processes natural sugars…
  • Thanks for the BodyBugg suggestion. That's a great idea!
  • Hot Yoga (may not necessarily be Bikram Yoga) is great for your joints and helping with the healing of injuries. I actually tore a tendon in my foot last summer and the doctor recommended I try Bikram. I love it. A lot of people complain about the heat and the smell of the room (it's 110 degrees and people do sweat), but I…
  • I am a honey mustard fanatic that has been good about keeping it under control (helps that I don't eat meat anymore so I don't use it as much, but it does make a great marinade for salmon). I love making mine with Grey Poupon and Organic Grade A Honey. Mmmm delish. And for that matter...honey is a great condiment. I make a…
