Hmm... For those who believe their unenlightened dr's who told then the pill just makes you lazy/hungrier, and blaming weight gain on the pill is a cop out etc... My endocrinologist showed me some studies that proved how changing hormone levels actually has a huge affect on metabolism. For example, it can cause VERY…

I have been on 4 different hormone contraceptives (hc's) in the past year... The first one gave me no weight issues but really mucked me up in other ways. The second and third made me gain big time. The fourth has been slow going but steady. Medical journals say the correlation is minor, but personal experience tells me…

I think what adross meant is that - She may feel subconsciously threatened by your new attitude toward health/nutrition/fitness and is picking up on signals you may be unintentionally be sending out without meaning to (ie, she may think that you commenting on your own choices is an attack on her choices, if you know what I…

3B is a-m-a-z-i-n-g! If I feel a tingle I use some before going to bed, and the rash is gone overnight.

Aww :( I feel your pain, I am def my own worst enemy too. I think our prob is that we are just so suggestable and we like the idea of being easy going and 'enjoying' our special times - and if you are anything like me, happy social gatherings always tend to involve delicious (but not always nutritious) foods that those…

I use Nutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit - it smells delicious :) I also follow with Johnson's daily moisturiser - just the plain old tub kind. I used to have terrible skin and swore that moisturiser was the devil - come to realise that no, moisturiser is absolutely integral and it just takes your skin a couple…

I have really thick hair that must be washed at least every second or third day. I always blow dry after washing or else it literally takes all day to dry. We are talking, I can wash it at 7am, go about my day, and then still have wet roots when it is time to shower or hop in to bed :p Drying is a mission though, and takes…

Hooray - the site says I am properly fitted :) I really hate lingerie store people so generally try to avoid letting them measure me... But the last time I did get fiited I was told I was a 12DD. I bought one bra from her but have found it kind of uncomfortable. Today the site says 14C and this is what I am usually wearing…

Hit up Spotlight or another craft/sewing store, they usually have measuring taps for like $1-2?

Hahahaha very true for me! I try to be conscious of where my meat comes from and even buy direct from farmers that I trust to treat their animals well and humanely prepare the meat for consumption etc... But I still can't think about the steak on my plate as being from the cow with big brown eyes that I thought was so…

It came from a mangled quote from the movie "Velvet Goldmine"... which I have actually not seen to be honest, just heard the quote and thought it was lovely: "Make a wish, and see yourself on stage, inside out. A tangle of garlands in your hair. Of course you are pleasantly surprised." I had this quote in my sig at another…

My family are true "outback Aussies" have always been big meat eaters, but my younger sister switched to vegetarianism at age 7 because of her feelings on how animals are farmed. My dad was pretty wierded out at first and thought it was a phase, but my mum was great and even took her to a nutritionist to explain all about…

You are in a really hard situation :( I really think aznladie82's comment about using the kids nap or tv time to do some small workout, combined with Jenns1g's about using any and all time even if only short is probably the best option for you at the moment? I hope things can improve for you soon <3 I think most people…

I went to PT this morning and felt all full of energy and recharged, but now I am resolutely avoiding writing assignments by cruising the MFP forums :p A thouroughly wonderful use of my time, methinks ;)

Most of my fresh fruit and veg also come with a barcode lol.

Me tooooooooo! Absolutely in love with it :) My tech savvy SO is amazed by it too, and loves scanning things for me lol. (He is way too skinny to ever need MFP for himself!)

Are you doing any strength training? If not, maybe you should - this will allow you to burn more fat during workouts. If you are, and you hadn't been doing it before, then maybe you are gaining muscle as well atm, and so your actual fat losses are higher than you think. Have you been measuring yourself?

Any HRM users got some numbers yet? Looks awesome :D

I think the issue here is that while, as you assert, most of us here are most certainly working towards different goal weights... Most of us here are also aiming to be fit and healthy in the long term. You may be interested in checking out the documentary "Diets from Hell". Most especially, I think you would get a lot of…

Try Cash Converters for pawning your stuff temporarily. They will usually hold onto it for you for up to a month or more if you ask them to so that you can just go in and pay it off to get it back. Or if you are really desperate the also do payday advance loans but be warned the interest can be killer! I have been in the…

I love doing this every now and again too! It's certainly more expensive than Domino's, but heaps healthier and way more filling. Don't sweat one delicious treat, teens. You will burn that pizza off in no time :)

It is hopefully just a sodium water weight thing, will go away soon enough! I know it's hard to resist, but try not to weigh so often - the numbers can go up and down a few times during a week depending on the time or day of the week, or if it's TOM, if you hadc a high salt dinner the night before etc etc etc. I somehow…

My PT is adamant that I should not do any exercise that will up my heart rate when I feel sick - she says heart rate soars a lot more when you aren't feeling well, and making it work so hard can be counteractive in the end. She also told me once that depending on what type of illness it is, this stress on your system can…

I prefer natural foods also.... That said, I do drink Coke Zero (and enjoy every drop!) lol.
