I would love to hear responses to this question too! BMI just seems so... hit and miss.

My thoughts exactly! Thanks for the support guys :flowerforyou: it's great to have people who not only understand what you are going through, but also care :) As for complaining, she is an independent contractor type provider who works out of a larger medical centre, but I get the impression she is kind of her own boss...…

Me too! There are a lot of advocates for the lovliness of running outdoors, but personally I find that worse and quite boring. I've tried varying routes etc, but can never seem to enjoy it. I find that at least on the treadmill I can push myself to maintain a certain speed and reach a certain distance/time goal which I can…

I have recently discovered this show too and have been watching it on YouTube... Actually more like 'devouring every episode' of it lol. I would have to say that despite the "shock" tactics used, usually both participants come away with a much better attitude and understanding of the damage they had been doing to…

I am feeling your pain... Recently my in-laws were here for a week and had us eating "good" and "nutritious" homemade Israeli and Polish food the whole time. His mum is the kind of lady who really loves to cook for us and wanted to teach me how to prepare every family recipe also... These were not the healthiest foods for…

GO NOW! Why put off til tomorrow what you can do today? Put your shoes on, move away from teh computer, get out there and GO! Look at the clock. You have 5 minutes... That's right, 5 minutes from reading this I want you outta there. You will feel much better afterwards, I promise :D

:( That is awful news, hope you and your family are all holding up ok. Don't lose hope though - this doesn't have to be the short life sentence they have said. Might I suggestyou Google and read up on a man by the name of David Patient? He was diagnosed HIV+ in 1983 and given 6 months to live. He is alive and (fairly) well…

Maybe in your part of the world, that is true. But I live in Australia. I work at a medical centre. Most of them spend hours after we have closed the practice (and their shift has ended) hanging back to check on test results, making unbilled house calls, and investigating new research on various different conditions.…

 conspiracy theorists make me laugh. Despite what many Americans may think, the United States is NOT the centre of the universe, expecially when it comes to the area of medical care. Check out some international sites for some up to date info. It seems that your doctors are negligently oblivious, and you have…

Hi amijay77, sorry if you already answered this, but I couldn't find the name of the actual test you had done? I really would love to find this out so that I can speak to my doctor about it. I see that you have said something about "Kaiser Permantente" but this doesn't mean anything to me sorry :embarassed: ... I'm in…

I'd love to know what this test is called too, please! I've never heard of anything like this before either. Thanks for sharing this obviously well kept secret!

Usually just Mega B, which is a vit B all rounder, for energy & metabolism boost. Have recently added Vit D also. My BF has chrohn's and I've been having some tummy troubles for a few months too (ongoing tests :frown: ) so we have been keeping on top of all the research... New studies are popping up everywhere atm to…

fish/shellfish - I can smell it a mile away and it always makes me feel nauseous. I can't sit at a table with people who are eating it, it puts me off my own meal. I have never enjoyed any form of seafood, except calimari, and even then only if it's cooked well. mushrooms - who wants to something that grows on another type…

I'm the same! I went to smiggle and got a really cute kid's one that holds 500ml. It's funny, a lot of the people I work/deal with have commented on how cute it is, and it actually encourages me to drink more water! I generally fill it at least three times a day - when I arrive in the morning, at morning tea, and again…

Your understanding is on the money. 1200 cals is the minimum amount of energy your body needs for day to day "living" - ie. sleeping, bathing, eating etc. Without it, your body will begin to store the fat from your meals instead of burning them. Your current weight loss will slow, and probably eventually plateau. There is…

Wow, you have an awesome attitude to weight loss Cat! I can see that you want to do this in the healthiest way possible to ensure that any weight you lose, stays off! Your current problem really depends on your current weight, I'd say though. 2lbs is really not a lot of weight to lose in a week if you are bigger, but could…

I absolutely  Harry Potter so my boyfriend and I are re-reading Deathly Hallows for about the millionth time at the moment. We take it in turns each night to read a chapter out loud to each other  I also recently started reading The Slap by Christos Tsiolkas, but am taking a break at the moment with Uni exams…

I think it's all about your own skin and body - noone else's experience is going to be exactly like yours unfortunately. My experience: I have been big since primary school, and last year dropped about 35kg (found some again recently unfortunately :ohwell: )... My body has always been, and continues to be pretty…

What a group of good girls! Delicious and healthy choices all around. Unfortunately, my diet today consisted of traditional "slack Saturday" food lol! Breakfast Generic - Egg, 70 g Short Cut Rindless Bacon, 50 g Potatoes - Hashed brown, home-prepared, 0.5 cup Lunch Generic - Lamb Souvlaki, 0.5 Kebob (80g) General - Chicken…

Wow, everyone should be so proud of themselves, awesome effort! I have been a bit under the weather the last few days but kicked off this morning (better late than never!) with the 200 s/u's program. Week 3 Day 1, Level 3: 21, 27, 21, 21, 30 = 120 total in 9 minutes The last ten h-u-r-t but I feel so good for pushing…

A friend of mine took it over a two month period at the beginning of last year and sufferred the same awful side effects that others have mentioned already... She lost 15kg within 2 months tho, which I thought was pretty amazing! She learned quite quickly cut the high fat foods out of her diet, let me tell you! She stopped…

Welcome to the wonderful world of geocaching, glad you are enjoying it! I really <3 it because it's great encouragement to get outdoors, discover new places, and take on different challenges. Hiking is also a fun and different type of exercise (and can burn some serious calories if you are at it long and hard enough!) I…

Don't get me wrong, I would love to get CosSurg eventually - when I get to my GW I think I am going to need some tightening up and new boobs unfortunately lol! I agree, skin checks are uber important, I just worry that some people don't seem to realise the dangers and pass over them because of the old "it won't happen to…

It only needs to be about 3-5mm if you are going to get it done professionally, or by someone who knows what they are doing, so it depends on the growth rate of your hair I guess. Personally, I shaved Sunday night, so by friday afternoon my leg hair would definately be long enough to wax lol.

Hey, what's the big deal, no young and otherwise healthy person has ever died from using solariums... oh... wait... http://www.news.com.au/solarium-skin-cancer-victim-dies-from-melanoma/story-e6frfkp9-1111114409318 Well, still, my skin is lovely and brownish, and that is totally worth the risk of an early death. And who…

That is fantastic, you should be so proud of yourself! My exams start the week after next - nail biting has officially commenced!

Thanks Becca, I am already feeling like my habits are improving. I love the accountability this site gives me! Personally, I have also taken the sugars section off my 'watch list', and am focussing on the calories, fats and carbs sections more. I figure I will see how this goes for a month then revise if necessary. That…
