  • Just went through the last 3 days of your diary, and there's an awful lot of sodium and sugar in your diet. I always feel like crap when I have too much sugar. Might want to just make sure you don't have celiac as well, since I notice a fair amount of bread products in your diet too. I have a mild form of it so the more…
  • From NYC living in Toronto!
  • Both both always both!! :) There are so many benefits I could go on forever, but the potentially most pertinent are that you'll have less loose skin when you're at goal if you lift, and if you lift you get your BMI down by increasing your muscle mass which in turn increases your metabolism.
  • I've had numerous flavors and numerous brands...and I can't get into it. It's weird, and salty, and doesn't really taste good. Everyone else I know swears by it, so maybe I'm off my rocker. Call me old fashioned, but I like water!
  • I feel you, girl. Motivation is a b*tch :) Here's the thing though: you have to know that what you repeat you'll see. So a setback, like stopping your workouts and eating a little more won't kill you PROVIDED it's not the norm. Wipe your slate clean, forgive yourself, and move on. You CAN do this, and hey it's a life, not…
  • If you're sore, but can still move around then do more working out! If you're sore to the point where you can barely move maybe take some rest :) Like me for example-hamstrings are sore, but I can still get up out of bed, so I'm going for a walk and to spin class and yoga later. Water, water, water always helps as does…
  • Running in the rain is one of my favorite things :) For that I usually just add a hat so my eyes aren't all bleary. For running in cold weather, definitely avoid over-dressing. You always want to dress as though it's 10 degrees warmer. lululemon makes really great tech fleece running tights that usually come out starting…
  • I'm a total asshat if I don't eat breakfast....my fiancee doesn't eat until lunch. Eat when you're hungry, but if you're dying to jump on the breakfast train have a protein bar, or banana...something small.
  • I'm putting a plastic sheet on the couch so I can sit around with cookies on my thighs  It's true...I've come crazy crazy far from the girl who would eat cookie dough at 10am and be fine with it. I'm stronger and deserve better than that. And thanks to the dude who posted the lyrics, too!
  • One meal, one day won't make or break you. Make sure you eat normally that day so you're not starving, get a workout in, be mindful of the alcohol and DANCE and make friends!
  • I have the NB Minimus, and am also flat footed. It takes some time to get used to running in them, especially if you've been running in traditional sneakers. INTEGRATE THEM SLOWLY! Short runs at first only otherwise walking may be a wee bit difficult depending how you've been running in the past. I really like them for…
  • We always fear what we do not know. In 2005 I was 250lbs, and my boyfriend at the time was also obese. He'd make fun of me, talk about how I spent too much time at the gym, and when I reached my goal weight he called me emaciated. Now 7 years later I'm only 15lbs above my goal weight and he is about 40lbs heavier than when…
  • Sometimes you just have a crappy workout! But hey, a crappy workout is better than none at all. It could be literally any number of things; going out too fast, not having enough fuel, being bored senseless...anything! Let it go, and know that 20 minutes is better than nothing.
  • I used to go years and years ago. It's great if you're just starting to exercise, have injuries...but there's no way to get results over time. As your body gets more fit you're going to "outgrow" that place.
  • You logged what you ate right? And you're coming back tomorrow? GREAT! Let go of what happened today and start tomorrow fresh, and know that the fact that you're here and being mindful is a HUGE leap from when you weren't doing anything. Now what are you going to do tomorrow to make yourself feel amazing?
  • I'm with ya on that. I lost 100lbs and being a size 6 was totally a foreign feeling. It takes time to get used to your new body, and eventually your brain will catch up with your body. The biggest thing I've found is that I needed to learn that I deserved to look good (still do), and to feel proud of my accomplishments.…
  • My fiancee is 5'11" and 150 if you get him wet...and the man eats like a frat boy. Here's what I do: Dinner last night was Haddock, green beans and mushrooms and brown rice. I had it as is, threw some lemon pepper on the fish and garlic on the veggies. for him: made tartar sauce, added parm cheese to the rice and he ate…
  • Toronto Scotiabank Marathon in October! My second full.
  • Sounds like you're not eating enough. 1200 or less is really low. http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ <go here. it's an online BMR calculator. Your BMR is your basal metabolic rate which is the amount of calories you burn if you literally don't move all day.…
  • We met in April 2011, got engaged on Christmas day 2011 and are getting married in April 2013 (we're doing a civil ceremony for immigration paperwork in 10 days). He lived in Canada, and I lived in NYC the whole time we were dating and for most of our engagement we only just moved in together two weeks ago in Toronto. I…
  • I'm 5' 7" goal is 165. I'm really muscular (runner and cyclist) and that weight has me feeling my best!
  • I used to run only on the treadmill, now I only do road running. The dreadmill is too boring, and I definitely find I can go longer on the road. Which part of your knee hurts? You can adjust your running depending on what portion hurts: for example I get pain right in my mid patella so I push my weight forward a little…
  • Yeah Crossfit! Think of me while doing wall balls and box jumps.
  • Hey to you both! What's everyone doing to work out today?
  • I won't tell...but I mean really NYC is the best
  • Hey! I ran NYC in 2011, and am running Toronto in October (or planning to if my hamstring will cooperate). Finding running buddies and the right training program is key. I love runner's word UK's training programs. Speed work (Yasso's!) is definitely amazing, and make your tempo runs feel so good..and make sure you do…
  • Feel free to add me, too! I've been off and on of here for a while working on losing 15lbs that I gained after losing 100lbs a few years ago. I definitely could use some support, and I'm a big motivator! :)
