Hi all. Again. I think I've finally figured out my difficulty. It's not that I binge or get cravings. I trip up whenever it gets so busy with work that I'm up through the night. Then I'm too tired to do anything for something like three or four days, by which time I've lost the motivation. I lost it this time for about…

I spend lots and lots and lots of hours playing Sims2.

Starvation definitely! Something that really helped me was to start seeing food not just as "food", but as FUEL. This means a couple of things:  Put the highest quality fuel you can find into your body. Your body actually needs fuel in order to burn fat. (Read that one again - that's pretty major!)…

Hi. Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you! It probably depends on the kind of information you're after. I haven't actually read the entire book, but the parts I have read so far seem very interesting and informative. I hadn't heard of training with a heart rate monitor before reading, so that was my main "new…

Hi there. I've had this problem myself. The best alternatives I've found for myself have been the stationary bike (or you could take up cycling, maybe?) and swimming. Both can give a really good cardio workout while staying off the shins. I was never a very good swimmer; I could never get the breathing right. If you have…

I'm always up on my protein, for some reason. Fat and carbs are fine, but I'm always over on protein by at least 30 or 40. Go figure. :ohwell:

I'm a teacher, and I actually had a student ask me if I was pregnant last year! I just went ahead and said, no, I'd just been enjoying too much red wine and chocolate since quitting smoking. I said it with a smile, too. Then (heh heh) I proceeded to make fun of the fact that she'd asked me. By the time I was…

Thanks for your understanding, people. I'm feeling a bit better about things now. :flowerforyou:  :flowerforyou:

I'm female, 33yo, 5'7" tall. I had an operation on my leg after a sports injury last year. Then I quit smoking. Then I had mega-depression, which I've finally gotten under control. In all of that mire, I understandably gained quite a bit of weight. My only weight data I had to work on was taken some four or five months ago…

I've recently started using a Polar heart rate monitor, and I'm really glad I made the investment. I know exactly when I'm in "the zone" that's best for fat-burning, and stay there for as long as I need or want to. What it means is that the time I spend doing cardio is used with maximum efficiency, because I know exactly…

I have actually read in a few different places that you actually should have one day in the week to just splurge and go crazy on whatever you want. (One of these authors is Joyce Vedral, writer of workout books like "Definition" and "Bottoms Up!") Part of the reason is so that you don't go feeling like you're depriving…

Sorry about the repeats, guys. Computer mishap, not intentional. :(

I've only just noticed (duh!) that while my overall calories are fine and my fat intake is also fine, my protein intake is way up. Can anyone tell me what are the consequences of this? cheers, Kali13.

It's not really a fat-burner so much as a detox thing. I think it's supposed to get the digestive system going, too, using the same principle as drinking "bitters". But detox is the main thing.

I started really eating well just a couple of days ago, getting all the fruit and vege and grains and fish and such, and I noticed a funny thing last night. I had this "bread and butter" taste in my mouth. No matter how many times I brushed my teeth or washed out my mouth with water, my teeth feel like they're coated with…

Come 6pm every night, I don't care what I'm doing, EVERYTHING STOPS. I jump into my exercise clothes and head downstairs to work out. Having that set time every evening seems to work for me. But I also have a day off every three or four days. That gives me some margin for things like going out to dinner and stuff. Hope…
