Yeah, been using squash blossoms for years. For the last 10 years I get them for free from a local farmer that also supplies chefs in the area, including me. Anyway, I'm up before the sun to pick them, they're wide open in the morning and easier to work with and the key to freshness that lasts the longest and I put them in…

While I don't actually disagree with his meal plan, it's not bad and probably better than 90% of what people in developing nations eat but his evidence is actually not based in real science but observational data, so basically opinion. Like I said people could do a lot worse and his meal plan is a decent one. When someone…

Thanks springer and very nice of you to say. cheers. :)

Consuming offal is not an American thing but carnivores from other Countries do partake. Personally I would consume liver and do and yes it certainly would help in certain vit & minerals for example Vit A, C, folate, copper and choline are better served consuming liver. Saying that, many people have been consuming pretty…

Hey springer, The guideline for carnivore are pretty basic, eat only animal derived foods, eat until your full, rinse and repeat. The only concern is not getting enough fat because of the decades saying to avoid them, so that is real and a concern. Keto on the other hand is to make sure the carb sources don't exceed 20g's…

Yes talk to your doctor especially if your on medication. Not sure in your diabetic, pre diabetic or have insulin resistance but generally this is the demographic where it happens the most. This is my basic understanding of the situation and I'm not trained in nutrition or have credentials, so like I said this is my basic…

The 10mg to avoid scurvy is pretty well known, studies (science) looking at carnivores and Vit C go back to the 1940's and it's also in that 20 year old study you provided. I'm sure all the people that are on the carnivore diet that aren't dead from scurvy have gathered together to create this elaborate conspiracy just to…

@mrbretmaye thanks for you story. A familiar motif for pretty much all that end up doing carnivore. :)

Generally I go with hard boiled eggs, cheese, pork rinds, meat sticks like pepperoni.

What are your concerns eating fish? You sound more caught up in terminology and possibly some ideology, but I can assure you fish is healthy and contain some pretty important fats that are essential for thriving and especially for brain function and like all animal flesh, they're predominantly amino acids (protein) and…

Right. When I finally ended up trying keto, which took a while getting there, it basically helped with my health issues and reversed my pre diabetes and it also pretty much stopped my psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis, which were something I dealt with for a few decades. Anyway, sugar was my problem and that was the main…

It's where the ideology and stupidity of the medical community and guilt for a large percentage that are overweight when being told they're fat because they're gluttons and all they have to do is eat less and move more, doctors have been saying this for 50 years, so they must be right. Most packaged foods are designed and…

Well, there's what, 17 or so calories in 1 egg white so a 6 egg white omelet with around a cup of assorted veg is less than 200 calories. Not sure how many egg whites your using but if your wondering if they will keep you full tells me it's not 6 or more. I hope your not throwing out the yolks, it's basically where most of…

Salt is extracted from the blood through the kidneys and that takes time and drinking a lot of water can help assist that process and offer some dilution. Keep in mind though, sodium actually helps hydration and facilitates those bundles of fibers that transmit electrical signals between the brain and the rest of the body…

Truly amazing weight loss. Can I ask? How did you find carnivore? :)
-
@robertw486 I didn't address this, sorry about that. Only 10mg's of vit C is necessary to protect against scurvy. Also it appears from the anecdotal evidence from my research most carnivores, males mostly and some females are eating about 2 lbs of animal protein a day and so that basically covers the scurvy concerns, imo.

Not sure if your familiar with the MMA but Georges St Pierre, Chad Mendes, Alejandra Lara, they were carnivore and the wildlife guy Bear Grylls who switched from vegan to carnivore. Actually there's quite a few world class athletes who use carnivore. Zack Bitter who was a 100 mile ultramarathon world record holder…

You found one, good catch and thanks, an interesting case for sure. Not your average American. Basically a 54 year old underweight male with virtually no health history that never was in contact with a Doctor until recently when he was finally concerned with his health seeks medical treatment for some pretty inflammatory…

I see, ok, no problem, I was just asking. Just to let you know, there's about 25-30 milligrams of Vit C in 100g's of beef liver which when incorporated and consumed once a week is enough to maintain adequate amounts and I've seen no data where people on carnivore experience scurvy and if you have I certainly would be…

Thanks for the response robert, lots there to discuss. let me ask first which essential micronutrients as you say, are completely void in the carnivore diet?

The "real demographic", the people actually trying to figure out their own health and not just looking to lose weight don't just fall into keto, keto/carnivore find them. It's the destination where most non communicable diseases are addressed and like the saying, all roads lead to Rome, all the research leads to low carb…

@springlering62 Consuming just animal protein and their fats until your full and satisfied and then just getting on with the rest of their day is about as simple as it gets, there are no other requirements at all, no other food that are needed and most carnivores generally eat twice a day. From all the people that I've…

Yeah, not only that but most people would probably loose interest pretty fast if they had to sit through a dissertation of a particular subject compared to someone that has a good story to tell, are animated and instill confidence and look the part. Most influencers work on a numbers game and adjust there takeaway based on…

LOL, that is quite funny. :D Fiber is now the new kid on the block and elevated to new height's never seen before and must be worshiped at all costs. We don't talk about food anymore we've been trained to think in terms of protein and fiber and are what's important, yet if we get the protein from the plant world which…

I'm familiar with the "Iceman" and yeah I knew about the fungus found on him and apparently it was for intestinal parasites and maybe other ailments as well. Imagine being chased and getting away with an arrow in you to only die later, and that's only speculation based on the arrow hit his shoulder. Fascinating stuff…

I hope you find success with your diabetes. :)

Actually, that's not true, the body needs glucose not carbs, which the body produces in the exact amount the body requires which is around 130g's a day through a process called gluconeogenesis (gluco-neo-genesis) and basic to human physiology and why dietary carbs are not essential. We produce glucose from non-carb sources…

Dietary cholesterol is absorbed in the intestines from enterocytes which are cells that line the intestines, then incorporated into particles (containers) called chylomicron. Chylomicrons are too big to enter the blood stream and are first transported via the lymphatic system then empty theses chylomicrons into the…

I was pre-diabetic and removed most of the carbs in my diet, leaving mostly vegetables. Without carbs there is no diabetes, period. I was not going to use medication so I played around with other opinions for a few years, literally, with just ending up being very frustrated, your results may vary. good luck and make this a…
