Tell your doctor you need a chat with a dietician who understands diabetic diets. They can talk food choices with you and how to level things out. Anything you eat is going to spike your sugar for a while, what times of the day are you checking vs the times you are eating?

So, how long have you been at it, any recent changes in exercise or diet, are you in the vicinity of shark week? When do you weigh yourself, do you use the same scale? Lots of things that could cause it, none of which are permanent. Let's work through it to figure out what happened.

Your user pic is relevant to your post. And that's freaking awesome! Mine are still hiding but I can't wait to find them.

OP, as a woman who just started lifting, who girl crushes on the ladies deadlifting as much as they weigh or more, let me help a little. Ignore the quoted post completely. In order to build bulk, you need testosterone, which women's bodies don't exactly have in abundance. Lifting does not make women bulky. At all. A good…

Uh, sorting through the flowery language and guessing really hard, the prawns, the fish at the bottom, or the chicken directly above it. One thing you can do is build each entree into a "meal" on mfp to get an estimate. My guesses are based off protein, condiments, and sides listed, though they are strictly guesses (I…

Lol, the message boards here are a little weirder than some, I get what you were after though. I went to the beach for a week! I hadn't had a vacation in about 3 years, so while I didn't eat to the point of uncomfortable, I didn't stick to salads or check calorie counts at restaurants either. It was just a huge amount of…

I went to the preserve this morning and for once, didn't have to set a stopping time to get to bed (I work nights and usually come afterwork). I walked 5.23 miles in about 2 hours and only left because I was getting hungry. It may be time to find me a bigger park! I just did the math, and that's over 8 km! I wonder how…

Usually that's the way of it. If you can feel real muscle under there you've just got legs built like tree trunks (no shame, my hamstrings are enormous and make my legs look huge!) and the only way to really get the size down is to let some of the muscle waste away. Stiff upper lip for now, and just wait it out. Once…

If clean eating means no taco bell, even in moderation, count me out! You can lose weight eating whatever you please as long as it fits yur calories. Keep an eye on micronutrients and take a vitamin pill if you need to, but if you aren't going to "Eat clean" for the rest of your life, then you need to learn to eat the…

Apparently I have a mind like a steel... salad strainer. SW: 175 (Which I have revisited again and again) CW: 168 (Vacation weight! Pretending it's water...) Friday Morning GW: 163 (May alter if 6/4 weight is a lot lower than Friday) GW2: 158. As of Sunday (6/5) I'm down to 164.8. I figure that's good enough for me. Weigh…

I conquered my arch nemesis at the gym! A few weeks ago, my chest muscles were so weak that I couldnt do cable flyes with 5 lbs, which is as low as the cables go. This morning, though I frequently had to stop between reps after the 1st half of my second set to breathe a few times, I finished 3 sets of 12. At the minimum 5…

Lots of people will tell you that you'll lose motivation and fail. "People often say motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing. That's why we recommend it daily." That and, "I'm tired of waiting for 'next year'."

MFP wants me to eat something like 120 grams of protein per day. Which is ridiculous for me. It takes a protein powder to get me up to 80 and I'm not about to take three scoops of it (it really isn't that tasty). And I get the issue with MFP yelling at you for overeating carbs. You can change your macro ratios and shut up…

I'm 5'6" 162 and eat around 1300 a day. I rarely eat back my exercise calories, but I do have the hypoglycemia issues so. When my sugars get low I can get a variety of symptoms, but the most frequent is that I get 'hangry'. Irritability is one of the more common side effects of low sugar, and yet its frequently one that…

There isn't a magic reset button in your body that resets at midnight (bear with me on this). And your body doesn't shut down when you sleep. When you go to sleep is when your body's focus changes from getting you around to healing itself. Your metabolism (when not exercising) is actually fairly consistent. Not eating…

You can still eat sweet stuff, you just gotta do two things: plan and make smarter choices. I've got a horrible sweet tooth. Every so often I'll budget a chocolate bar into my day (for mental health and not going to prison for murder reasons) but for the most part I want something sweet everyday. I started bringing sugar…

They can depending on the person, but nasolabial folds tend to become more distinct as we age. If you have chipmunk cheeks like me and lose some weight in your face the contrast between the two areas may lessen, but if the folds are distinct lines it's probably something that will stay the same.

Just a reminder OP, if you want a consistent weight, using the same scale isn't enough. The best time to weigh yourself is right after you wake up and relieve yourself. And your clothing should be consistent from day to day as well. Otherwise weight fluctuations (or lack of loss) could be misleading and be accounted for by…

I've long suspected I had hyper mobility (a doctor mentioned it as a possibility years ago) but reading all of this has made me decide to add it to the list of things I'm going to talk to my doctor about when I go see him. I can't run because the knobbly bones in my left ankle pop out (they do it walking too, but running…

It's possible that you are 'opening' your chest when rolling your shoulders (if you'll pardon the yoga speak). Does it feel like you've over strained or over stretched? If you're mostly feeling a stretch, it should go away as the muscles in your chest relax a little more. If it feels more like strain, go visit your doc…

This makes me feel better. I really thought it was just me. As a teenager I was on the high end of the healthy BMI but I always thought I was overweight because I had a pregnant lady belly I always had to suck in. It's nice to know that it's a problem other people have and I'm not just some body shape weirdo.

Mine isn't weight related but it is pretty modest. That being said, the day I can do a flat pushup (on the floor) with good form, I plan to crow it from the rooftops! And every 5 lbs I have a dance party in the living room when no one is around. Because every little landmark success is worthy of a celebration.

How are you going to lose calf muscle while running? That tends to build them. Also, why hate on the muscles? (Genuine question, going to gym tonight to lift baby weights, doesn't understand.)

The endless search for a magic pill to enable weight loss is the reason we have an endless search for weight loss itself. The answer is CICO. It might not be as sexy and idea as a magic pill, but it actually works.

Build in calorie budgeting... awesome. The more I find out about this app the more there is to love! Lol, if nothing else it'll work better than my admittedly spacey memory/math skills.

Suppose your calorie goal is 1500 calories a day, and you come in around 1300 everyday. You end up with 1400 calories under goal for the week. Now, add in the extra deficit created by exercise (and not eating back all the exercise calories). Not hard to hit a 2000 calorie weekly deficit. Also, from what I'm seeing, it…

It depends on the patient. Give your doctor a call (leave a message whatever) and just ask. Doc can tell you what they'd be comfortable with, but don't be surprised if they want a HgbA1c before they cut you lose entirely  (And for a good A1c you need consistent readings for about 6 weeks.)

My second go at chest/triceps day was a unplanned. I cut my foot and can't go hike/walking in the woods like usual on saturday mornings after work. Instead I went and increased most of my weights, managed the pushups at work (still can't do them flat, so used the counter at the nurses station) when last week I only…
