  • These protein powder companies can learn something from the baby formula industry. Some of the companies are starting to attach their scoop to the seal inside the lid. :) I will continue to weigh my portions. My shake this morning was quite yummy!!!
  • I don't drink coffee unless it's starbucks lattes lol. (So wouldn't know what a coffee scoop looks like). I was just surprised when I weighed it out this morning. :) Like a "I don't think I want a full serving of that!" size.
  • Well, wasn't planning on measuring via volume. Was just rying to see what an eyeball portion size is supposed to look like. I do use my scale, but after weighing a scoop I started to doubt myself.
  • Congrats on your first 5K That is great advice. After my vacation, stuff came up where I went 1 too many days without running, and brutally paid for it with my next run. I had to repeat a workout, but determined not to let that happen again. I'm sticking with the 5k for now, too. I got an app to help me work on speed. So I…
  • After almost exactly 2 months (with a vacation in there), I've "graduated"! Tonight was my final scheduled run, and while I had gotten up to 2.25 miles, I was working on slowly increasing my distance. I just wanted to see if I could do it tonight, and I did! And you know what? I sprinted at the end! I was so excited to…
  • I started the program August 16. In the past, I've never ran more than a minute in my life. I've tried C25K a couple of times before, but never could get through week 2. This time, I started on a treadmill and I forced myself to do it. A lot of it was mental. I've also been doing other workouts outside of running, so I…
  • I DID IT! W9D1 for me. My previous best was 2.25 miles in 32 minutes. Tonight, I wanted to go for it and see what I could do. Neighborhood run. Slightly hilly but nothing obnoxious. 3.1 miles in 41 minutes 26 seconds! Not only did I beat my best distance, but I beat my best time as well! I was sprinting at the end I was so…
  • I'm about as slow as they get. For awhile I had gotten frustrated that people could walk faster than I could run, but stuck with it anyway. I'm near graduation now (week 8) but running at a 14:ish pace. (4.2 mph avg). It's slow running, but it's running. Once I can complete the full 5K, I will go back and start working on…
  • Yesterday I finished W8D2 (not 3). Hate to run back to back days, but since I missed out on Tuesday, I had to do that run yesterday. So today I did W8D3. Ran extra for a total of 32 minutes - total 2.25 miles. I have 6 more runs before my 5K. Goal is to increase each run by 2 minutes, so by the time I get to the 5K, I'll…
  • I finished W8D3 today on the treadmill. Ran for an extra minute (30), but kept my outside distance of 2.15 miles. Even though I will "graduate" this weekend (2 runs left in program), I won't have the full 5K yet. My goal is to add 1 minute of running each day. 5K in 2.5 weeks. I can do it! At my current pace, I should be…
  • You can do it, Deb! I've seriously never run before in my life! I hated it because it was always so hard. I also have tried this program a couple of times before and quit when it got tough. Stick with it. Push yourself to complete the runs. And remember - it's not about speed. And if your run gets discouraging, remember…
  • Finished W8D1 tonight. Ran 2.15 miles in 29 minutes (ran an extra minute!). Stopped only long enough to tie my shoelace. :/ I need to start double knotting! I'm less than a mile away and have 3 weeks left until my 5K!!!
  • Yesterday I finished W7D3. I ran extra (28 min) total because I wanted to reach 2 miles. I did it! I ran 2 miles in 28 minutes!! I ran 2 miles! Woohoo! 1.1 to go in three weeks. Of course, at minute 25 one of my shoelaces untied (treadmill), so I spent the last three minutes hoping I wouldn't trip on it. lol
  • My first 5K is in three weeks. I figure if I add 1 minute (at least) to each workout at this point, I'll be pretty close to the 5k. However, I'm worried, as I heard the 5K is a little hilly. I'm going to have to try to do a few runs in that area (not knowing the course).
  • I completed W7D2 today. Ran for an extra minute (trying to gradually increase). I ran 1.81 miles. It's kind of discouraging knowing I have another 1.3 miles to tack on, but I remember that 7 weeks ago this was impossible!
  • This. All Slimfast is a can of flavored milk with vitamins added to it (for your "nutrition"). You'd be cheaper off getting chocolate milk and taking a multi-vitamin. Or better off, eat a bowl of (good) cereal with milk for the same amount of calories and nutrition. I've tried SlimFast before and ended up nothing but…
  • I found out my daughter started teething yesterday literally on the way to dropping son off/doing my run. So, instead of the run, I went to the store to get her some teething tablets. Decided to let her stay cozy sleeping in the car in lieu of a run. So today I'm going for W7D2. I hate skipping an extra day of running…
  • NY style pizza is surely the way to go! I keep joking with my friends that we need to make the Uno's go out of business here and put in a Sonic in its place. I mean, I live in NY - why should we have Chicago style pizza? :D
  • Oh, how I love Reese's PB Cups. I like to eat the chocolate first, then the peanut butter. My husband shares this love with me. :)
  • I too, am doing a small group personal training session. (4 of us, although only 2 of us showed up last week). I still feel like I get plenty of personal attention. $150 is crazy for one session, though.
  • BJ's had an energy bar sample, so I took one. I immediately regretted it and further regret finishing it. It was only a portion of a bar, but when I looked up the cals later I realized that was 50 calories that I'll never get back.
  • Ohhhh that's so awesome! Love that you rocked the tutu!
  • Completed W7D1 today on the treadmill. 25 minutes of running and I ran 1.75 miles (not including warmup). I did a 25 minute run on Thursday so I was really trying to push myself speedwise today since I had the treadmill to push me along. My 5K is in a month. Once I graduate, I found an (5K graduate) app that works on speed…
  • I just signed up for my second race, and I'm starting W7 tomorrow. :) First 5k is October 26. The next one is December 14 (Couldn't resist that one - it's a nighttime race through Christmas lights!!!)
  • I have an official weigh-in once a week. But I also weigh myself every day (not recording). I found myself getting too stressed over the upward bumps. This way, I still see my daily progress, but I also compare it to my weekly #. But I also weigh-in first thing in the morning like the others said. Too many variables of…
  • I was supposed to run for 22 minutes today, and instead I ran for 15! Six weeks ago I was doing good to run for 90 seconds without stopping!
  • I just finished W6D3. Was aggravating as all get out because my phone completely shut down twice mid run. (Ahhhh can't wait for my new phone!!!!!) BUT I ended up running 25 min instead of 22. I got further from my starting point than I thought I would get so I figured I'd practice and run a little bit more to prep for 5k.…
  • Trying being "rigid" on the weekends for a few weeks and see if that makes any difference. It's highly possible you may be eating more than you think.
  • Also, listen to your body, but make sure you are listening to the right cues. If you are eating (as above), then you should not be hungry. If you are, grab a healthy snack. Be aware of "emotional hunger" cues (read up on it - it's very eye opening to anyone who has ever eaten out of emotions of any kind including boredom).
  • If you are eating the right foods throughout the day, getting in enough protein and fiber, and not eating junk or drinking a lot of empty calories, and if you are eating enough calories to not be in starvation mode, you will not feel hungry. I started at 255 lbs (5'9") and in May I was eating about 2100 cals a day to start…
