Yes it does sound like you have hit a plateau. There is such a good article I read on it! I can send you the link if you want to read it. But i would just start changing everything up. You have been doing the same thing for a while now (which lost you 40 lbs). Not it's not working for your body anymore - your body got used…

I came back from my vacation and i gained a few pounds. Then I didn't have time to get back on track because I was gone for a business trip for a week and worked a lot of OT. As soon as I got back from my tripI had two very busy weeks. and now I am 5 lbs heavier and having a very hard time getting back on track. So it's up…

This is great information. Thank you again for responding. I will do exactly that - learn good form & maybe concentrate on 3-4 exercises at a time & then do them until I am confident.

Since I am on the topic of free weights I might as well ask. Are there any unpoken rules or etiquette that everyone knows when they use free weights area and I don't? I am going to start learing the proper form & plan to use free weight area but I want to feel at least a little bit more comfortable before I do that. Thanks…

I got to LA fitness, they have a pretty good mix of free weights I think. There is another thing - pretty much everyone who is doing free weights is A GUY. Any time I go and do free weights many of them are looking at me and it makes me wonder if I am not doing it right. Or maybe they think that I shouldn't be doing free…

That's a great suggestion about keeping the weight low. Thanks!

I like to do the cross trainer. I think the biggest problem of doing the same thing every day is, like someone has already mentioned, hitting a plateau. It's not BAD to just walk for 6 days a week (better than those people on the couch who never move) but if you goal is to LOSE weight, I think you will definitely have to…

That's probably why my smoothies never turned out - i never used any juice. I wil try the yogurt & juice & see if they are any better. But then I just wonder how much different from McD's smoothies they will be if I use juice.
-
Do you use fresh fruit when making smoothies? Any base? cause I usually just put almond milk & some fruit & protein powder & they don't turn out tasting too good. Maybe I need to add something else like a yogurt or something?

YOU LOOK AWESOME!!! I also would like to know what you are doing. I started with pretty much the same numbers as you - at 185 and now I am at 147. But i don't think i look as good as you do!

I would also just like to encourage you not to give up 3 days after upping your calories if you don't see a loss on the scale. That's what some of my friends do to. They stay on a very low calories diet (which 1200 and under is), do not see any progress on the scale, exercise all the time, and still can't lose anything. So…

I am 5' and eating about 1600-1700 calories and losing consitantly. I started at about 1200-1300 and then increased it and kept losing just the same. I have the energy for all my workouts and have not experienced a stall. My BMR is also around 1400 so I guess I am eating my exercise calories back :)

I am in the middle of level 2. I combined 30DS w/ cardio at the gym & I already lost over 10 lbs. I wouldn't plan on losing tons of weight with the dvd alone. I think it only burns 200-250 cals on average. So if you would like to see a significant weight loss it may be better to add cardio maybe? just an idea :) something…

I think increasing your calories to where they should be is the best way to lose weight. I am not exactly sure how long it will take you to start dropping pounds, but I am sure it will happen. I have not been on this forum for very long but the number 1 advice that people get when they are not losing weight is to up your…

I have a friend who is not counting calories any more. She is in a very good shape and it took her a while to get there. She is maintaining and has a very good idea of her calorie intake and is never hungry. She is eating about 1700-1800 cals a day. I heard that you should record the calories for a year after your reach…

She is a bit older and she does see a specialist for her muscle disorder. But no, I doubt she can do leg raises (they are even hard for me , haha :)) She tries to save any strength she has for moving around.
-
her problem is that she CANNOT do any kind of exercise. She can't even walk without falling. The floor that seems totally nomral to me is bumpy and uneven to her & she is very unstable. She uses a cane. So all the strength that she has she uses to move around her house. That's why the only thing she CAN control is her…

I really appreciate you guys' help. She just switched to MFP today (she used Fit day before). She has done HCG, Atkins, 1200 calorie diet & she has struggled with her weight all her life due to this ilness. I have had such great results with MFP & have been strongly recommending her this website. I have helped her develop…

Thanks for your reply. what is the sedentary multiplier of 1.2-1.275 that you mentioned? I have never heard of it. I would say she burns close to nothing during the day. The muscles on her legs are deterriorating so she cannot really carry the weight of her body. Do you think she should stick to her BMR- (BMRX20%)? Or?…

It's all in your settings. Depending on what you have it set as it will either ask you to join other networks or not :)

well no need to be insecure now

What is your calorie intake now? The only thing I would worry is that you don't drop below 1200. If your calorie intake is very low then you will lose a lot fast but you are likely to gain it back. I have recently experienced a similar weight loss but it was because I dropped my calorie intake and kept exercising on a…

could those occasional cheat items be preveting you from losing your weight?

I would definintely try to fit SOME exercise in. You could get up HALF an hour earier if the morning is your only option. I don't think it will make too much of a difference if you sleep 6.5 hours. If you were getting 4-5 hours a night i would suggest that you take the extra time to sleep. But I have noticed a direct…

Did you stay at the same level or did you move on to levels 2 & 3 during your first month?
-
I thought of it this way. This is not some fad diet I am doing here. This is me changing my life style. So if I give up, that means I am giving up on my life. So that's why I never think of it as something that I should be tired of. If it's exhausting, you need to change things up because it's not supposed to be this way…

I would say it's totally possible. You just need to eat really clean & be VERY consistent with your exercise. You are aiming a little higher than a healthy weight loss, but as long as you fill up on good, nutiritious food you should be fine. Good luck!

People are posting so fast that I gotta reply to my own message so it doesn't get burried :)

Thank you for replying! These are very good pieces of info! I may try it to see how it works for me because I am excited to try something new. I will most likely eliminate just the dairy for now. I like coffee too much!! ;-)
