  • Not enough information to know if you are doing anything overtly incorrect. However I will add that your body needs rest as well as exercise. If you are fueling your body well it will reward you. 17 pounds is great, but weight loss is a marathon not a sprint! Take your time, nuture yourself, build a maintainable plan and…
  • I love how MFP helps me remember what worked and what didn't. I have found, through historical data, that I lose much better on higher protien and fats and moderate to low carbohydrates. Do whatever works for you! Edited to add: I also have hypertension so I found whole foods instead of canned/boxed/processed also worked…
  • From one bander to another congratulations on your loss. The struggle is overwhelming at times but you can get through this. It may be the winter months but if you can't find a walking buddy and don't want to walk alone (find an awesome songlist and it will get easier) try an at-home DVD to get exercise in, the endorphins…
  • Went to the gym after dinner every night this week, and planning to go again tonight. Just getting back into the habit of exercising..nothing strenuous!
  • I do it all the time at the gym in my office. I get on the elliptical, turn on the t.v. or my headphones and tune everyone out. The only thing I would think someone would look at you sideways about was if you were wearing the wrong footwear.
  • I love to eat. I was part of the 1200 calorie club and my hair started falling out, had no energy, you know the rest. Now I've figured out what my equilibrium needs to be in order to feel great but lose weight as well. I regularly have sweets, desserts, and I certainly don't starve on 1800 calories a day...looking to…
  • Eating a healthy amount is always a good idea. But maybe take stock of what others are saying to you and not see it in a necessarily negative light. Let them know you are trying to be healthy and that's the end of it. If they are genuinely concerned for your health tell them that you are exactly at a healthy weight for…
  • Making healthy choices for you and your baby is very important. Good for you because most women think being pregnant is a free for all to eat whatever, however much and that has health consequences also.
  • Oh man I am so the same as may of you. Once I get that thought into my head sometimes it seems to become an obsession. And then...I have to eat the ENTIRE: bag, carton, box, bar...must finish the entire thing. It's not a good place when I go there so any type of distraction really does help, currently I take my dog for a…
  • Thank you for sharing. I had a similar experience and lost 122 pounds, not eating healthy, barely getting 1200 calories in and it all backfired. Hair loss, no energy, anemic and overall poor appearance (sickly, dry patchy face) Gained 50 of those back but I am determined to get this weight off (again) but the healthy way…
  • I'm just going to stop eating when I feel full. And then have pie and cake later on when I feel hungry. I plan to do a 5K the morning of Thanksgiving.
  • Sometimes all we can do is make the best choices out of bad options. Most of that could be water weight, but at least you are planning to get back to your normalcy and routine. One bad day or even weekend doesn't need to go any further. That 6 pounds should drop off in no time.
  • That's a great success!
  • Definitely record your next encounter with this lady, either in person or on the phone. She doesn't seem to be bold enough to actually be upfront with her intent. My advise would be NOT to be threatening or combative because you never know what will trigger a person to go off. Maybe next time she comes start grilling her…
  • Actually, yes. My dietician gave me a sheet of paper with really great fitness trackers/nutrition trackers and recommended MFP as one of the highest ranked. She also said that the 'standard' calorie allowance they give me on MFP, seeing that I already had an account before seeing her, (at the time, it was 1200 calories)…
  • This site is calorie based instead of points. You will have a certain daily calorie goal, you can use however many calories in your daily or weekly allotted calories for "splurge" and it will still even out. That's what WW does with the exercise and 'splurge' points. Best of luck
  • All of the above, sometimes in the event I don't feel like guesstimating servings on the recipe I do put 1. And when I divide the dish into servings on plates or into tupperware I then enter the food item on my diary and put the amount as .25 or .50 depending on that.
  • I've done a LOT of trial and error on this thing and dropped huge amounts of weight on 1200 calorie diet without eating back exercise calories. But all I did was YO-YO back almost 45 pounds. So here is what I'm doing...calorie goal is 1450 (number obtained from scooby's workshop as the BMR for my ultimate goal wieght of…
  • Your TDEE includes exercise...so when you do that don't eat back or log any exercise calories. You should be just fine because your current daily intake could be close to that number already. But if it's more I would suggest increase your calories by about 100 calorie increments. Adding a serving of nuts, half an avocado…
  • This reminded me of the people who say "should of, could of, would of" rather than "should have, could have, would have." [/quote] Try shoulda, coulda, woulda
  • I would like some feedback on this also. I seem to go at a much faster pace on the elliptical also, not as fast as an 8 minute mile but you're doing great if that's your pace. I increase my incline and resistance and it keeps me at a 13:35 mile pace which is right in line with what I do when I jog outside and on the…
  • I don't know when that happens...still seeing a size 22/24/26. No longer that large but it's hard not to be super critical of myself when I've been so successful in the past and getting back up into size 14/16 when my lowest I was a size 10.
  • I have a similar issue. I think the problem is not entirely with just 'cleaning your plate' but eating past the point of satiety. If you are full...STOP EATING...speaking to myself mainly!
  • I think she's beautiful and deserves to win and represent America...it's what our nation is all about!
  • I like to plan loosely so I know where I have wiggle room. But I don't rigidly eat exactly what I've logged and if I don't eat that then I'm a complete failure for the day. I stay flexible with life and it has made me much happier.
  • sent you a friend request.
  • So here's my experience.... I dated someone for a while that I knew had 4 children and didn't want anymore because he'd had that taken care of...so we dated. But I knew the relationship wasn't going anywhere because I don't have any children and still hope to have some even though I'm in my 30's. Dated for a while but not…
  • This^^ A large filling salad as your evening appetizer while dinner is being prepared. I did it last night and was so full at bedtime still, that I didn't even want my evening ice cream (unheard of!!)
