  • Suggestion: Adjust your macros to 40% Protein, 40% Carbs, and 20% fat. You're eating double your fat it seems from the week of logging I saw. Almost 100 grams per day. For a guy who is weight training, you should be eating more protein as well. Reduce the foods with fat and add more protein and healthy carbs.
  • One of the best posts I've read on here. You said it all! Great job so far, and good luck moving forward!
  • I always put all my food in good or bad I hate being over the line, 1850 is my calories I set up a long term plan this is going to take 1 year and I am 1/3 done today. This helps me accomplish little goals 10 pounds a month but not get discouraged at how far I have to go. I eat a lots of omelets for lunch more protein…
  • -Balance your life (work, school, activities, kids, etc) first and foremost. If you're stressed in one part of your life, you won't be successful. -Food is 90% (or some high %) of your weight loss. Focus on this. It's easier than trying to motivate yourself to work out a lot right when you're starting. When you start to…
  • PS. I'm ALSO a busy professional and a grad student!
  • I am doing EXACTLY the same thing and it's working for me too! Food is 80-90% of weight loss, and exercise the rest. I'm focusing on the big picture here. I'm exercising when I WANT to and have TIME to, so I'm not stressing myself out about not making it to the gym (no stress = no binge eating). I've logged for the past 80…
  • Today is day 73 for me. I've been logging every day and eating very healthy. I exercise one to two times a week, but my focus will remain food because that is where a lot of progress comes from. I weigh in on the 1st of each month so that weight is secondary to how I feel and my focus on eating right. Yesterday was the…
  • Cheez-Its are AMAZING. But what I want to know is what on earth happened to Twigs?! I think they were a Nabisco product but they've been gone for ages. I loved those things.
  • My suggestion: Your protein is way too low. You should be eating at least what you've set as your goal of 66 grams. If you aren't vegetarian you should add chicken and/or fish to your meals. It looks like you're subsisting on soup rather than real food.
  • Are you a writer? You write so well! Your story teaches us that life goes on while we are all here trying to get healthier. That there will be ups and downs but keep coming back here and keep looking for friends who will see you through to a better day. Thank you for sharing!
  • You look amazing, and great color choices for your hair color! Question: How long did it take you to go from 265 to 158? And, how much exercise did you do? Keep up the good work!
  • Decided to go with monthly this time around. I much prefer not to get discouraged by "bad" numbers on a weekly basis. Monthly and I'm sure I'll have a loss. People who weigh daily are nuts and/or have a seriously strong head. I would get so discouraged if I weighed daily.
  • I use the cap of the bottle as a measurement. It's actually about 1 TBSP.
  • I use Chromecast as well. It's like $30 and you can stream YouTube, Netflix, and other aps through your TV. It's well worth the price!
  • L1D1 done. Jillian kicked my butt and then some. I struggled through most of the exercises with weights (my fault because I only have 8 pound dumbbells!). Hoping to be able to do the entire 20 minutes without stopping by D10.
  • You can, and I do, get all my macro nutrients in 900-1000 calories. 85-105 grams protein, 20-25 grams of fiber, 100-130 grams of carbs (fruits, veggies, whole grains), and 25 grams of fat (only a few grams are saturated). If you eat right, you get way more bang for your buck. I love to eat, so the trade off is, if I want…
  • The reason they want you on a low-fat diet could be to shrink your liver so they have easier access to your gallbladder. Just a thought.
  • There are companies online that will make the quilt for you. I plan to do that with all of my race shirts in a few years. One is Campus Quilts. There are others if you do a search. You just send them in and tell them what you want. It's not cheap, but to save the memories I think it's worth it.
  • Pretty much everything you choose, ESPECIALLY any kind of soup, is going to be loaded with sodium. Avoid, at all costs, soy sauce, even the reduced sodium kind. Soy sauce is the champion of sodium-filled sauces!!! Sauces of any kind are going to be loaded with sodium. Unfortunately, if you want to eat healthy there your…
  • I was curious about this app so I downloaded it. The numbers in some cases look way off. The sodium in particular. I don't believe some of these foods have absolutely no sodium. Anything with a sauce is going to have sodium, and high sodium at that (probably over 400mg per serving, if not over 600mg). Take the information…
  • There are people on here who have lost 200 pounds, so yes, you can do it! And yes, a ton of weight will fall off at first and this will motivate you to keep going. But keep in mind a lot of this might be water weight (but still motivating nonetheless). This is the only way of eating that works to lose weight and keep it…
  • Thanks guys. Everything you've said is true. I just wonder.. Where did it go wrong for me (and for others)? For all those "naturally" skinny and/or healthy people out there, were they taught a different way to eat? Were they brought up within a more strict eating environment? How do these people know how to eat a healthy…
  • Sounds like classic plantar fasciitis. It's common when you don't wear shoes that support your arches. See if you can visit a physical therapist to get a free evaluation. If that's what it is, you'll need rest, maybe PT, and definitely better foot wear.
  • I've also been on celexa for a little over a year at 20mg. 10mg worked somewhat and 20mg has been perfect since. When I tried to go up to 40mg it was too much and I found I had trouble sleeping and felt like my head was in a vice. I've noticed some negative impact to my libido, but for now I'd rather be emotionally stable…
  • Everyone will usually see a big loss the first week and then it's drastically reduced after that. Mainly that is due to your sodium intake. You're shedding a lot of excess water weight if you're sodium is going down. 1.4 pounds a week is nothing to be unhappy about. It's weight loss at that pace that you will be able to…
  • Does your gym have a cafe? I'm lucky enough to have a cafe at mine where I can pre-order a salad with grilled chicken before my workout, and then pick it up on the way out the door. If I didn't do that, I'd make something and bring it to work, and have it for when I got back to the office. Good luck! And I totally…
  • We have LoSalt here too. I found it at Whole Foods the other day. I bought a potassium glutomate (I think that's the name) supplement because I noticed through the iPhone app I wasn't getting near enough sodium (I don't eat potatoes).
  • The only way to know is to get a HRM. Polar F6 is what I have and one of the best. Otherwise you're just guessing. The machines can be grossly inaccurate.
