    Hi,

    Welcome to MFP.

You can do it!!! Break it up into smaller chunks and set yourself mini goals as you lose weight. It makes it seem less daunting.#

    Good luck

14 stone? Wow, let's put it this way, it won't come off in a few weeks, but you are going to be one interesting person to watch!

Of course there is hope, there is always hope, it does of course, depend on you and your state of mind, how focussed you remain etc.

I think you could be a massive inspiration to others, but mostly to yourself.

Don't give yourself unrealistic daily calorie targets, start off steadily and don't forget if you stick with it, a hell of a lot of your weight will fall off quickly at first and that may be just the motivation you need to keep you going.

There are people on here who have lost 200 pounds, so yes, you can do it! And yes, a ton of weight will fall off at first and this will motivate you to keep going. But keep in mind a lot of this might be water weight (but still motivating nonetheless).

This is the only way of eating that works to lose weight and keep it off, in my experience. Log those calories and make sure you're getting the nutrients (especially protein and fiber) that your body needs.

And use this site. Everyone on here is extremely helpful and supportive.

Good luck, and remember, small steps! This is not a sprint! :)

    Yes there is hope.

You have obviously already made the decision to lose weight. You have joined this site! You have posted on a board that has a lot of folks who have been there and are doing that. That is three positives in your favour already:happy:

The biggest and hardest step is usually the first one on the road to where you want to get to. There are resources available that will help you take charge and learn more about a healthy lifestyle. There are lots of people here to cheer you on your way.

14 stone is 196 pounds. It IS a lot of weight and is certainly not going to come off all at once. Speaking from personal experience, the big picture can seem pretty disheartening.so I would suggest setting mini goals along the path. We don't want you to get discouraged and give up.

You really should not plan to lose more than 2 lbs per week so clearly it is going to take you a while. Slow steady weight loss is the safe and healthy way to go! Start starving yourself in an attempt to lose more and your body will go into famine mode and hang on to any calories it can. Exercise is your friend but again you probably need to take things slowly as you get into it.

Congratulations on making a decision to start!
