This is interesting. I didn't realize that training to swim in a tri is so different from just regular swimming. I just signed up at my local why for a few one-on-one swimming lessons. I haven't swam any meaningful distance since I was a child so I figured I should make sure I get technique down. Sounds like I should also…

my concern with the chocolate milk was the refrigeration needed.

Hi Shuntae. Did you sign up for the Iron Girl in Columbia? I tried to but didn't get tot he website soon enough.

I agree. Under Armor helped me get through many a winter run. Get a good jacket and some cold gear running tights and long sleeve T's. I usually where a headband earwarmer cause my ears always get cold. wearing a hat makes me too hot.

Last week when I wasn't as consistent with my workouts I lost weight. I also ate a bit better though.

Really disappointed today. I weighed myself as a "preview" to tomorrow's weigh-in and I am up 2lbs!!! I have actually been exercising almost every day. The only day I did nothing since last weigh-in was on Sunday. I probably need to work on cleaning up my diet. I completely splurged last night and had a beer with…

Is the chocolate soy milk lower in calories or higher in protein than low or non-fat chocolate milk?

Name: Rhandi Age: 35 Location: Central Maryland (originally from NJ) I ran two half marathons, one in 2008 and the other in 2009 then I moved to Maryland and stopped doing much of anything while I got my self situated in my new suroundings. It looks like you and I are at the same point in the training. I did Stage 1 workout 5 B this morning. Congrats on deadlifting 80lbs. I hope to get there soon. I'm only at 20lbs (65lbs total). I'm with you on feeling the soreness. I'm still feeling Monday's workout on top of yesterday's run and today's workout.

That's a really good idea. I'm trying to get more into cooking on Sundays for the week and freezing what I don't think I'll eat that week but I'm not consistent. I'm not sticking strictly to the book's plan either. I'm loosly following a 40 40 20 macro split with carbs protein and fats.

Hi. I'm Rhandi. I just restarted Stage 1 yesterday at workout 5. I didn't want to start from the beginning again. Felt pretty awesome when I was finished. I'm also running 2 - 3 days a week. I think I have just about convinced myself to sign up for the NJ half marathon. I also think that will attempt my first triathlon. I…

This^ the New Rules of Lifting for Women is an excellent guide. It shows you how to do the diferent exercises and even gives you meal plan ideas.

Hi Ladies! So I officially restarted NROLW this morning. Since I had completed Stage 1 before and I didn't want to start completely from scratch I started from week 5. It felt good. I went in to work on an endorphin high. Looking forward to finishing stage 1 and actually going through the rest of the stages this…

Mine was kind of scale related. I was able to wear a suit that I haven't worn in awhile and not only was I able to zip up the skirt but I was able to button the jacket from top to bottowm without those annoying gaps between buttons. I still have a ways to go but that was a small victory for me this week.

Is everyone psyched for tomororw's weigh in?
-
congrats. I hope to get there eventually. :flowerforyou:

For me it's very worth it. I need structure and a plan that I can stick to and this fits the bill nicely. It doens't talk down to women and it also provides a decent meal plan if you need one. I agree that you should look it up in the librabry first before investing to see if it is something that you want to try.

I just bring my spreadsheet that I use to track my progress. (Yes, I'm that big a geek that I made a spreadsheet for each workout for each stage) I usually study the pictues the night be fore though.

I'm not fan of step ups but my bigger dislike is for lunges. I have horrible balance so trying to do these always makes me have to concentrate a lot more to make sure I don't fal over.

Morning Everyone! I'm Rhandi and I'm 35. I have been battling my weight since college when I gain 50 lbs over the course of 4 years!! I didn' t do much about it then cause I figured hey I don't look too bad at 175 I grew a little in college so this is just me finishing my growing (in my opinion). But then the weight didnt…

Considering how long it took me to finish stage 1 I think I will just start at workout 5 from Stage 1 and move on from there. I think it would be too de-motivating to start completely at the beginning again. Since I have been doing my own weight training routine for the past month I think I should be good to pick up from…

I was hoping that I would find a thread of folks doing the New Rules of Lifting for Women and here you are. I had completed stage 1 over the summer then fell off the wagon. Now I'm ready to start up again next week. (This week is too crazy to start anything new). I'm also running 2 - 3 times a week. I know…

I too am bad on weekends. I went out on Saturday ate Halloween candy and definitely splurged at dinner with lots of food and some alcohol. Tried to make up for it by running 4 miles on Sunday. All you can do when you slip is dust yourself off and get back on track.
-
I didn't meet my goal for the week. :frown: but I did get in 8 miles of running as of yesterday. Sunday 10/30: 4 miles running
