can be filled with tonnes of calories... low carb is one route people can take to lose weight, but it is by no means necessary.

Hi jewel! Are you using a food scale? Are you exercising, and if so, do you eat back any or all your exercise calories? What did you set as your activity level? Post your stats for more specific advice (age, height) I'd recommend reading this:…

@tomteboda I just wanted to say I always enjoy your posts!

I didn't give up carbs, and lost weight successfully. Personally, I believe in losing in the same way that you will want to maintain. Break the yoyo cycle, and learn habits that will sustain you.

I would seriously consider asking for a second opinion. When your thyroid levels are right, you can lose weight. Use a food scale. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest

You want your numbers to be in the optimal zone.
-
PS Thanks to the mod who fixed that :)

I agree with Alfie, it sounds like your symptoms are unrelated to your weight loss. I'd recommend seeing your doctor. Edited to add, you posted this in the challenge forum? You probably won't get as many replies in here.

If you're struggling to gain, you'd be better off with strength training than cardio o:)

Zoe, if you are confident in your calorie counting (weighing everything but liquids) and burns (fitbit settings are accurate) and continue to not lose, I would book an appointment with your dr to get things checked, like thyroid levels. Don't worry about the spelling, it is against the rules here for people to make fun of…

Zoe, with all the above, all I'll add is to re-affirm to tighten your logging, and look at your burns. It looks like those are auto syncing. Is that from steps from a phone or fitbit? Use the recipe builder, weigh the final product, and make the serving size based off that. So if the final product weighs 420g, you can make…

I'm not in the same situation as you, but I just wanted to ask if there is any particular stumbling block that is making it difficult for you to eat the recommended calories per day? Is it an emotional issue where you have issues with food (perhaps fear of gaining, perhaps control issues, etc) or is it a physical issue…

Carbs are used for lots of things including fueling your brain. You won't get fat unless you are eating above maintenance.
-
I disagree. You don't need to go low carb. That will just give you a temporary water loss that you will regain the next time you eat carbs. Drink when you are thirsty. Intermittent fasting will not help with fat loss. Some people use it as a tool to help maintain a calorie deficit, same as low carb, but neither are…

I ate a balanced diet while losing... neither low carb nor low fat, and lost consistently.

Hope, could I suggest starting here: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest Use a food scale, run your stats and set realistic goals. Even healthy food has calories. Put your baby in a baby harness, and move. You can do it.

Zoe, your diary is closed. Go settings (top right if using the website version) > diary settings > Public (at bottom) > save changes (very bottom) Plus what are your stats? Age, current weight, goal weight, goal rate of loss?

I hope you don't boil them! They are best roasted in the oven at a pretty high temp. Toss them with some oil and salt, then roast until they start to caramelize and are cooked through. Something like this: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/roasted-brussels-sprouts-recipe2.html Now I want them!

Protein powder doesn't help you to lose weight. It will just help you reach your protein goal if you're struggling with that. After that, it's just personal taste. I like Trutein's cinnabun flavour, personally, though some find it a bit sweet.
-
Avon and MaryKay don't claim to 'detox' your body.
-
@queenliz99 thanks for the recommendation on my thread <3 OP, you would be better off to use a food scale than the food system. I do hear good things about their workouts though.

omg you really *are* close to me LOL

If you moved somewhere with a summer or winter club, I would highly recommend considering it. It really is completely different from swim lessons. Swim lessons teach you to swim so you can go have fun. Swim club teaches you to train, and many continue that habit for the rest of their life. It also teaches self discipline,…

Excellent points, and all accurate.

What exercises are you doing that aren't in the database? Maybe we can help you find them.

Hey, welcome to MFP! Sorry to hear about your health issues. Be sure to use a food scale, and make changes that you can sustain for the rest of your life. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest

If you want to argue about Starvation Mode, could I suggest moving it to @EvgeniZyntx 's thorough discussion of the topic here? http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1077746/starvation-mode-adaptive-thermogenesis-and-weight-loss/p1 Because it's really not fair to take over the OP's post with a debate that belongs…

I'm so relieved that you didn't take offence! It is something that everyone in the process of losing weight should be aware of. Did you go through the screening tool? That will give you an idea of how at risk you might be right now. Beyond that, I would suggest making sure that you are getting adequate NET calories to fuel…
