Too much fiber can definitely cause constipation. Fats help keep things oiled and moving. Fiber for bulk, water for softness, fat for movement. :D

You missed the /sarcasm font.

If it was a choice between weight loss surgery in Mexico, or eating less, eat less. If it's a choice between WLS in Canada or the US and eating less, consult your doctor.

There is no way to know, except time. Age is in your favour. Lose the weight and if you have a bit of loose skin, wait a few years, it may go away. Either way, you will feel better and be healthier.

I am so confused... the same day you post a 'need to lose 70 pounds, help!!' post, you post a 'lost 24 pounds in 40 days' post? Which is it?

Because the length of time you cook meat determines the water content after, and you're not going to find listings for beef, well done, 95% of naturally occurring water boiled off... since the water is calorie free, it's important to weigh before cooking.

16? Cereal. Sandwich. Healthy dinner. (Spaghetti, or fish, or chicken, or stew, or etc etc etc and always with veggies). Dessert on holidays and special occasions. Sour gummy keys for treats occasionally. Edited to add, oh, and pizza every Friday night, a couple of slices.

When you say 'you're gaining again', what does that mean? Does that mean you're up 2 pounds today over your last weigh in? Does that mean you've been up consistently every weigh in over the last 3+ weeks? Huge difference in reasons between the two.

IN! :D

It really is going to come down to personal taste. I like the Trutein Cinnabun flavour but to some it's way too sweet. I like it because it doesn't taste like artificial sweeteners, and I don't mind sweet. However, I don't like some of their other flavours, that others love. I would just keep trying until you find one you…

I can't imagine what you saw in here that was an attack, other than someone flagging people for abuse, which is not what the abuse flag is for. The abuse flag is for hate speech and pornography, basically. If you don't want friends to be able to see that you worked out, you can change what friends see by (on the website)…

I haven't read every reply but did a quick scan and didn't see this mentioned. You mention that sometimes she stops because 'she was coughing too much'. Sometimes coughing can be asthma. Asthma often doesn't look like what people expect. For some people, it causes throat restriction and mucous build up which causes…

What's with the inappropriate flagging? #yourusingthemwrong #rules

What I have seen most recently recommended from scientific research for the prevention of Alzheimer's and dementia, is the MIND diet. (some similarities to Mediterranean or Dash diet) It would not be low carb, and advocates eating foods such as blueberries, green leafy vegetables, berries, beans, whole grains, fish,…

a plateau is 6 weeks. Lots of things can cause the scale to jump other than fat gain. Use a food scale, and eat back 50%. Adjust that based on rate of loss over time.

I regularly eat over a pound of blueberries and or strawberries per day. (We can only get decent ones about half the year) Thinking about cooking myself up a pound of brussels sprouts for lunch, too, and will eat at least half of them. Interestingly enough, the brussels sprouts are actually higher in carbs and calories,…

Carrots aren't healthy? Brussels sprouts? Asparagus? Strawberries? Blueberries? Cherries? Sounds legit.

Bolthouse makes a really yummy Ranch yogurt dressing that is very low cal. I'd definitely recommend that over any fat free or sugar free dressing!! http://www.bolthouse.com/product/classicranch

I would suggest using a food scale, and while you may need to eliminate a few things for now, you need to be aware that deprivation can lead to binges which can lead to quitting. Also, if you're having nightmares, I would be concerned. Only put lemon in your water if you enjoy it. It will not do anything magical like raise…

Kathy, if your thyroid levels are stable, you should be able to lose weight just like anyone else. Are you using a food scale? Try reading through my post here and see if there is anything that might help. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest I am going to…

This is just hogwash and ridiculous. You literally just wasted your time listening to it. Since there is a minimum calorie intake needed to survive, what would be the point of exercising for that long? You'd just have to eat back those calories to meet your net minimum anyway. SMH
-
No thanks. This doesn't even take age into account. Or height. Use MFP to calculate your goals.
-
Some people are terrible loggers so they think they have to eat 1200 calories to lose weight, when in actuality they are eating much more than they think.
-
Stop letting the dieting industry con you. Buy a food scale for $10-$20, weigh and log accurately, and lose weight. Plain and simple. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest

Perhaps @heybales would have some insight into calorie burns with increased heart rate in the absence of exercise. From what I understand, it is not a direct correlation, and confuses HRM's into thinking you are working out when you are not. In other words, it's wrong.
-
Based on your numbers, you should be fine as long as you net at least 1200 calories, as others have stated above. Be sure to use a food scale, and weigh everything but true liquids such as milk.

Is that a new profile pic?! Gorgeous!

If you're using a food scale and logging accurately, with a goal of losing one or more pounds per week, I would eat most back. For smaller goals there is less margin for error. Monitor rate of loss over a month or two and adjust accordingly
