A few last question, what is your current rate of loss, and how long have you been at this?
-
again, in case you missed it: Statci, could you clarify your goals and current stats (current weight, height, goal weight, and goal rate of loss?) Are you using a food scale? Do you have any history of eating disorders?

I'm very confused. OP are you struggling to eat enough? Are you losing weight too fast?
-
Well, there you have it, a reply from someone with premium, and it's the same as the rest of us. Really not worth it. It is not necessary for weight loss.
-
Why not take the arguing to your own thread, as this is really hijacking from the OP's post?

Good luck! It is worth it. Try starting here: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest

When I started 16 months ago, I had a similar amount of weight to lose. It took me approximately 7 months. My personal experience during this, was that I would try to hit my protein goal, and let the rest fall wherever. Hit your protein goal and do some strength training while losing, to maintain muscle mass and to look…

And an unqualified person such as the OP giving medical advice is also a very real risk. Asthma kills. To imply that someone should try to treat their asthma through food and slowly reduce their meds is terrible advice. Asthma doesn't just kill the sick and the weak. It kills healthy people in their prime, who's asthma is…

Where do you begin? Either at the sexy pants thread listed above, or with my post here: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest

I would only run the HRM during steady state cardio such as the run, turning it on right at the start of the run, and turning it off immediately after. HRM's are useless for weights etc.

I find that a food scale and a calorie deficit is all I need. But whatever works for you. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest

Christmas bump!

Thanks!

How old are you, Lindsey, and what are your stats? (Height, weight) Those will determine the appropriate rate of loss you should aim for. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest

You couldn't pay me enough to get me to eat 5 day old tuna. Yuck!!

Check out the sexypants link above, and you can also read my post here, it is fairly short and sweet. Like the title says, it's the basics. Good luck. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest

@yarwell, where did you get the bolded from, as I couldn't find it in the linked study? If we run with Yarwell's # of 132 calories per day (which I do not believe has been scientifically proven that a fecal transplant could give this kind of increase, but whatever...) then the average obese person could save themselves…

And in everyone's stockings next year... A fecal transplant for an extra 25 calories per day! Merry Christmas!

Brandi, people interested in mentoring post in the thread here, so you could see if there is a good match. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10298435/2016-adopt-a-noob-official-mfp-thread#latest Also, I made a post for people starting out or restarting here, I hope it helps.…

Not an eating disorder unless you are obsessed with it, and couldn't handle not weighing a food before eating. So if it would send you into a panic attack to eat an apple and have to put in a 'medium' apple instead of weighing it, once in a while, then you have a problem.

Not all doctors have you do peak flow readings or use spacers. My daughter has severe asthma and is an athlete. She takes her rescue inhaler preventatively before practice as well as 'as needed', symbicort 4 times per day, and singulair which can help some patients (it's an all or nothing type of drug, according to her…

@alex this is starting to sound like an infomercial

Replace it with something. Go to the gym. Volunteer. Knit / quilt / paint / woodwork to keep busy. Journal.

You make your money selling Isogenix. No authority here.

You've lost 14 pounds in a month. That is not losing slow, that is losing too fast! What is your goal in the end? Most people, when it comes down to it, want to look good. You will look much, much better if you lose slower, as you will lose more muscle and less fat.

What works is sustainable changes. Buying a product for life is not a sustainable change. They wish!
