What she posted was "diagnosed autoimmune thyroid condition that generally should cause me to lose weight faster than normal," which directly contradicted hashis. Why persist in arguing? What is the point? Nobody's right 100% of the time.
-
Set reasonable goals, use a food scale, and if you have a bad day, or a bad week, don't give up. Don't say, see, I can't do this, I'm just going to give up. Do say, I'm tired of starting over, I'm not giving up.
-
If I were you I would certainly be seeing a doctor, as needing to eat that volume to feel satiated is not normal or good. Out of curiosity, do you have small hands or feet, sleep issues, thyroid issues, or low muscle tone?
-
Yes, you are. Insisting you're right, doesn't make it so. My kids wish!
-
Please stop with the fallacies. 1, no one suggested ANYONE eat 100% meat as in your post. 2, a calorie is a calorie, and 3, people on equal calorie deficits will lose at the same rate barring other factors such as thyroid disease, personal metabolisms etc. Please take the time to learn.

Dania, your diary is closed. Why don't you post your stats, your average daily calories, and what you are logging for burns, and we will see if we can give you some fine tuning. Also, what did you set your activity level as, when you set up your goals?
-
No. It won't. If you're in a deficit, you will lose. If you're in a surplus, you'll gain. Eat the way you want to eat, meet your macros for health.
-
You called it a troll thread. Neither of the statements you quote were made by the OP. As Niner said, the OP was not belittling vegetarians.
-
Sorry, that was a pretty vague term. My go to choices would be, in order, boneless skinless chicken breasts / turkey breast, fish, leaner cuts of pork such as tenderloin, and leaner cuts of beef. I mean, you can make anything work to fit your macros, but these are my go to's when I am dieting.
-
Just fyi that the poster was under 18 and no longer a member.
-
I found that increasing my lean proteins and decreasing my servings of things like rice and carbs (not eliminating them, just reducing them to an actual serving by weight vs what most people eat which is much more than 1 serving) helped me to achieve my calorie and macros goals set out by myfitnesspal.
-
I need to feed my kids around 4000 calories per day. It can definitely be a challenge to meet their needs while keeping my own calories down.

Time to learn how to make sustainable choices. It's definitely not easy. Good luck! http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest

My husband bbq's an awesome rare tenderloin steak... what time will you be here?
-
I would certainly ignore the jump to hashis. You will find that some people don't stop to ask questions first. It's the internet, after all. I think you will find that pretty much everyone replying to you in here though, has a thyroid condition. I am hypo, and my mother was hyper before she was treated, and the treatment…

Dania, how is your endo treating your graves? Do you know what your levels are?
-
You don't need to do low carb unless you want to. Most of the successful posters on here used moderation. If you can't control yourself, then you may have to make adjustments for that. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest

To me, it is a scam in the sense that it doesn't teach you how to eat to continue to lose, or to maintain, without it. It perpetuates the yo-yo dieting so prevalent among those types of diets, and yo-yo dieting is known to have a negative effect on our health.

Welcome to MFP. It really is do-able. It took me around 7 months to lose my weight. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest

Anything with chocolate. Or a bowl of berries with milk and a bit of sugar, yum. Or a flavoured greek yogurt...

Buy a food scale. The single most important thing you can do. Best $10 I ever spent. This isn't hard in one sense, but very hard in another. It's like a math equation, with a bunch of emotional and self control variables thrown in, but at the end of the day, a sensible deficit will get you to where you want to be.…

And just in time for the holidays...
-
I also don't believe in the philosophy of cheat days. What I did was to allow myself to eat at maintenance when my body told me I needed to (hungry!) or for special occasions (birthday, or walked by the cupcake shop...)

So it looks like some here have already seen the OP's medical records. Good to know. OP, are you seeing an endocrinologist? I would definitely recommend finding a good one. If you don't have one yet, I would ask for a referral, and maybe check the ratemd's website to find one that has good reviews. I've had good luck using…

I would highly recommend getting a food scale. They really are inexpensive, you can get them usually between $10 and $20. Get one that has a tare or zero function. That way you put your bowl / plate on, then hit zero. Add food #1 (lets say lettuce). Log weight, hit zero. Add next food, log, zero, repeat...

That's great that you use a food scale. As to your burns, if that's what you're really burning, then you will see it in your rate of loss. That really is the best way to calculate your burns anyway, if you are losing faster than expected then you're probably burning more than you think, and if you're losing slower, then…

My son adds cytocarb to his protein shakes to add extra calories. He also uses Oh Yeah total mass, and Optimum Nutrition Pro Gainer.
-
Again, without any stats or anything, it's impossible to help. If you don't want to post them, I'd recommend reading my post above and going from there.

Set a reasonable deficit, and make good choices when you go out. The entire time we were losing, my husband and I mainly ate at the same restaurant, and we knew which meals to choose based on calories. Chicken tacos for 400, Alex? or burger with fries for 2000?
-
Well, how quick do you plan? What are your stats? Weight, height... and what rate of loss are you hoping to achieve? http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest
