Personally I didn't have a problem running in them for short distances. I found them quite useful for hill sets. They really did cause my legs (particularly calves and hams) to work harder for each step (which IS what they advertised . . ). I also felt like the balance pods actually encouraged my muscles to discover and…

If mucking stalls is not a daily activity for you then absolutely count it. I've mucked since I was 10 years old and it most definitely is a work out if you're "mucking" properly. Really not sure where the "normal human being" comment came from . . . kinda unnecessary.

"If you run, you are a runner. It doesn't matter how fast or how far. It doesn't matter if today is your first day or if you've been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run." ~John Bingham I know someone already said it but I just needed to emphasize…

I'm 5'7 and 3/4 :) My goal weight is 125 . . . I'd be ok with 130 if I can manage to maintin it long term.

Nuff said.

Lol that's what my hubby always says!

I thought the "swap volume for intensity" response from the other thread was a good one.

^^This. I get really bored of the gym after awhile. That's when I get outside and run! Like the above said, try switching up your routine often to keep you interested and motivated.

^^ Yesssssss! Works for me too! :drinker:

^^ This is genius!

^^This lol! While I don't love the thing (holy crampage for the first full year! Thank god that's finally sorted itself out!) I 100% prefer it to the other options I've tried. That said, when I got my s**t together and wanted to lose the weight, the Mirena did not hinder that in any way. I just started watching my intake…

Well put! I would also suggest adding MUCH more core strengthening to your routine. It's easy to overlook how much our core conditioning affects running. Your core muscles stabilize your body and assist the lower extremities when they become fatigued. If your core is not conditioned sufficiently it cannot provide the…

Love me some Lulu! I'm not convinced their prices are entirely justified however their clothes are among the few that truly fit my body WELL and are equally comfortable and functional. I'm a cheapo so I usually opt for less expensive options but I do sacrifice the good fit that way and my experiences have taught me that…

Cardio, squats and lunges . . . I'm a pear too, the butt and thighs are the last to go! I run a LOT which does quite a bit by itself. Running hills and stairs is effective but honestly those lunges and squats are where it's at. (I hate squats too but they're a necessary evil lol!)

I made the mistake of not locking my locker the first time I went to a new gym. Someone took my bag out, took it in one of the bathroom stalls and went all through it leaving everything strewn about the bathroom stall. Fortunately they didn’t find anything worth taking but that feeling of being violated like that is the…

Starbucks Grande Skinny Vanilla Latte . . .

Between my running and living under a helmet for horse riding my hair goes through hell lol. I regularly take 2 showers a day (AM before work, PM after run) but only actually shampoo the hair every other day. It sounds kinda gross but washing it every day is actually worse for it! I'll rinse the sweat out then spray on a…

Me too! :drinker: I'm 5'7" and i'd kill to be 119! Even with my constant running I can't break 130. Maybe I should omit the rum and diets after all . .

^^ This. It's incredibly easy to misjudge the actual calories consumed if your not actively tracking it. Just my 2 cents.

I've done this too. I felt so guilty about wasting the money . . . and wasting the food but the tiny little show of willpower when I usually don't have it really did feel good. I wish I could have it BEFORE spending the money in the first place!

I’m very “all or nothing” as well. I haven’t figured out how to conquer it when that urge comes on strong. I just try to avoid having the things around that trigger a binge. I suppose denying myself these things all the time is partly what triggers the binge to begin with but if I have it in front of me I’ll eat it all so…

I'm always self conscious when I run by or around others. Even on days I'm feeling good about myself I still worry about "butt jiggle" and my tomato red running face. I literally have to push myself through it. On days I'm feeling especially frumpy I really have to psych myself up to get out there but I try to remind…

I like to remind myself of this lol. I think people are more inclined to notice others when it's for something they actively relate to themselves. I know that I tend to notice when other people lose weight because it's something I obsess over myself. It was about 12 pounds when people started to notice my recent loss but…

That's one of my favorite quotes!

I was always late for class lol! ^^ True but in the beginning I started running for weight loss. Then I realized that I actually enjoyed running just for running! About 2 years ago I needed a little extra motivation so I skipped the 5 and 10ks and signed up for a half marathon lol. That's when I fell in love with the…

Yep happen's to me too. I'm usually not hungry for a few hours after I run. I love it lol!

There is some FANTASTIC advice here! I typically run for distance but have learned I need to work on some speed (and strength both physically and cardiovascularly) areas to improve my overall half and full marathons. Personally I find the distance races and 5k's are a whole different ball game! I'd like to consider myself…
