I thought I prefered to work out alone, but I feel like if I'm with a buddy, I'm less likely to quit early or stop short of my goals.

We missed the bus so we walked 15km back to camp from town.

The one about your guy friend made me laugh so hard! Great job, this is all so exciting!!

Peanut butter and cheese whiz on toast. Or, peanut butter and chicken and sweet chili sauce and peppers on toast.

I spend between $40 and $60 every two weeks for just me. My list gets made as soon as the flyers come out. Bags of dried beans, rice and lentils last forever. I watch for big items on sale like a case of canned vegetable soup or the big tins of coffee. I buy big bags of apples, a big bag of a citrus fruit (depends what's…

I eat expired individual yogurts, I think it's fine a little longer because it's a sealed packet.

I was watching Dr. Oz, and he said drinking dark beer is better than regular beer because it has more anti-oxidants and less calories! Look at you go already! ;) "You should choose a darker brew because they have anti-oxidants and dark colored stouts have less calories than regular beer."

I call it second breakfast too! And last night I was wandering around the kitchen, asking my roommate what I should eat for 2nd dinner and he was like, "excuse me, what?" I usually wind up with about six "meals" but on long school and work days, nothing looks like a real meal, I just pack enough things for the day and for…

That is absolutely unreal. I am thrilled for you! You must feel so free!

Caffeine-free tea... I like apple cinnamon because it tastes just like apple cider (but calorie-free!), and chocolate hazelnut tea tastes like hot chocolate (without the cals and caffeine).
-
You just blew my mind.

Sunny Boy or Red River hot cereal (130 calories and 150 calories per serving respectively) Takes 5 minutes to cook, and if you cut up some fruit (peach, apple) while it's cooking, and throw it in at the end, it will cool it right down for you to eat fast! I've made it every single day for 3 months and I still love it

I always think like I'm calorie-zigzaggin on days like that, and the next day I just "cycle" back down to whatever my low calorie goal is.

Your metabolism couldn't have seen that peppermint hot chocolate coming... way to keep it on its toes!!! Atta girl ;)

When I was around that age, I had to walk to and from school (3km each way). That 70 minutes of walking daily made me drop about 30 pounds (180 to 150) no matter how many pizza pockets my friends and I split on the way to school or cookies I ate when I got home.

I eat a bulked up peanut butter sandwich when I'm running low on groceries. Whole wheat bread, 2 slices (120 cal) Peanut butter, a tablespoon or so, whatever it takes to cover the bread (100 cal) Raw almonds, ~23 (160 cal) on the sandwich Comes to about 380 cals. For variety I sometimes have: PB and mozzarella cheese on…

My sister joined a learn to row program and loved it, and now she does Kendo (a martial art). I've always wanted to get into boxing.

Haha, I keep getting mad at my pants too. I can't do the belt up as tight as I want because it bunches up all the extra denim. Good problem to have, but I look like a slob. :P

Ended up sleeping with a bag of frozen peas on my head... now I have to eat all the thawed veggies! :P Guess this day will sort itself out..

Thanks for the advice everyone! I probably will just stick to walking today, home and to get groceries. It's going to feel like -13C in Calgary today, what a day to be pushed outside! ;)

I'm 22 in grad school too, wish I had worked first! Everyone around me has tons more experience, and also, I'm stuck on a measly student budget still. Would have been nice to build some skills, save some money, and travel a bit beforehand.

I agree with the steamed rice. And steamed veggies! And go for a spicy entree if possible, it could slow you down. Drink water or tea.

That I don't have to eat it just because it's free!

As a student, I think I've engrained healthy eating and exercise so far into my daily life that I couldn't give up if I tried! I walk to school (30 minutes each way) and to work (15 minutes each way), and limit my two-weeks worth of groceries to whatever I can haul home walking. I got a part-time job at a gym and leave my…

YOU GUYS ARE MAKING ME DROOL. Haha. Honestly, I hadn't even thought about that.. I can't give up beer or wine, but I've had the same beer in the fridge and wine on the rack for months... saving for special occasions. (I drink less beer when baseball season is over, haha.) I could never give up Lime Tostitos or chicken…
