I don't even follow the "pros" of the sports I engage in. Don't really care. I train to compete against myself, no one else. And as far as NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, etc. goes. I think we have a serious problem in this country when we pay grown men millions of dollars a year to play games when teachers have to pay for their own…

I think I saw some motivation lying on the side of the trail about 3 miles from you house. I'll bet if you run there, you'll find it. :)

Beef broth (Cambell's) with saltines is my go-to "bad tummy" food.

For me, the speed came after I started doing two things: Strength training (calves, quads, hammies) Cross-Training The cross training in my case was cycling, where I worked on increasing my cadence. The side effect was increased cadence in my running stride,

The majority of people would be in or nearing hypothermia after 20 minutes in 50 degree water. I know a guy who can do that like he just stepped out of a warm bath. There are differences in physiology. Get over it. Not everyone needs to eat according to the "norm". Oh, and 1000 calories of vegetables, fruits and fish is a…

Strength training on my hammies, quads, calves and shins is essential to preventing injuries for me. http://www.body-mania.com/Exercises/12SwissBallHamstringCurl.html http://blog.derbyfitness.co.uk/single-leg-squat/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0q0qBzbb7Bs…

Pre-Fuel Quick Fuel Recovery That's how I do it. If I'm going to be burning off 1500 calories or more on Saturday morning, I've already consumed an extra 1000 calories on Thursday and Friday to compensate. I use Gels, honey, etc. during the workout to fuel about 1/3 of what I'm burning. Protien, electrolytes, and fresh…

I'd have to say it's pretty normal to see "what's left" instead of "what's gone" - it is for me anyhow. I'm paraphrasing a passage from a book by Neale Donald Walsh that's largely about finding peace in the world that goes something like this.... The more you accomplish, the more you realize how much more you could achieve…

Figure out what you want to be wearing at mile 5 by running in as close to race day conditions as you can predict beforehand. Wear that. If you think you will be cold before the race, go to the dollar store and buy as many long sleeve T's as you need to cover up and peel them off right before the race or in the first few…

That makes a lot of sense (along with post before it). Now that you mention it, when I have a cold the congestion is always worse on the right. Been that way as long as I can remember. I'm not using any nasal sprays but will take a decongestant when it gets really bad. I do have a Sinus Rinse (the more powerful big brother…

I use Smith Parallel Max for both running and cycling. They only fog up if it's humid out and I stop or walk. As long as I'm moving at a moderate pace, they stay clear.

Just curious, but did you do similar tests on the stuff in your own kitchens?? I contend that most people's kitchens are far grosser than the average restaurant.

Glad to see there is someone else out there that celebrates sobriety milestones on the metric system! I wish they had 1, 10, 100, 1000, 10000 day chips!!
