  • I am, and your post makes me twitch a little.
  • I recently joined PF as well. I would recommend setting up an appointment with the trainer there to discuss your goals and set up a routine that you can fit in your schedule. Here's what he told me to do: Warm up with 10-15 minutes of cardio (my favorite is the Arc Trainer) Do a circuit of the gym, alternating each machine…
  • I'm glad that at my gym: 1) Talking on cell phone in gym area is not allowed 2) Jeans are not allowed 3) Dropping weights is not allowed 4) Load groaning or similar noises are not allowed But the one that bugs me is when I'm trying to do my circuit training and go quickly from one machine to the next, and there are people…
  • This may be a dumb question, but why is it bad to have a high heart rate when you work out? What does it do? And how high is TOO high? I calculated my max to be around 190-195, so my target workout range would be about 140-170. But when I feel like I'm getting a good workout that makes me sweat, my heart rate is often up…
  • First off, you've only been doing this for a month. It might take a while for your body to adjust to the changes and start seeing a difference. So don't get discouraged! Second, I have a similar BMR and calorie burn per week. I try to net around 1200 cal/day (though it's not always consistant), and I'm seeing about…

  • My gym has something called an Arc Trainer. It's kind of like an elliptical crossed with a stairmaster. I love it! It gets the heart rate up and really works the legs and glutes. I've started using that instead of a treadmill, so it's like I'm getting two workouts in one.
  • Thanks for this info! I was wondering what would be a good calorie defecit/loss rate. I know that ~500 cal/day = 1lb/wk, but then it's not recommended to go below 1200...so that limits my defecit right there. And then people say to eat back your exercise calories, because you don't want your net calories too low. So…
  • I love BWW! Their hottest wings are pretty good, too. I've been wanting to do the challenge, but for me the challenge is the quantity, not the hotness. 12 wings is a lot of food for me.

  • I thought it was great....until I ended up just using apple slices as a "spoon" to eat the peanut butter... >.<
  • So I'm a week and a half into my "2-week challenge" to stick to my calorie goal, and I haven't managed to stick to my goal every day. BUT...I'm now averaging right around my calorie goal, so I guess it kinda works out. And I feel like I'm finally starting to see results, so something's working! I'm not counting…
  • Twice this week I ate waaay to much, and I wasn't even really that hungry. Yesterday, I wasn't feeling well, and I went for my comfort foods. And then I feel guilty after because I know I shouldn't have, but I did anyway. Definitely something I need to work on. :-/
  • My company just started doing this with the upcoming year's insurance, and we all had to go through a biometric screening. Rather than being "penalized", we get a discount for meeting certain target ranges for stuff like BMI and cholesterol. If someone doesn't meet that range, but they make certain progress towards that…
  • Interesting study. Thanks for posting. This basically verifies that my calorie goal isn't too low. At about 130lbs and 30% body fat, that means 91lbs LBM, and I should be eating ~1380 calories. My goal is 1200 calories, and I can eat more if I burn calories exercising.
  • There. Fixed it. Edit: Stupid html code doesn't work on comments. :grumble:
  • 100lbs is within "healthy" range for my height. And eating only 1200 calories a day doesn't give me much of a calorie deficit for losing weight. Therefore, I don't mind going under that as long as I'm still eating healthy, well-balanced foods and getting good nutrition. Or if I get a good workout in, I might have less net…
  • Yes! "Pre-logging" has really helped me stay within my goal of 1200 calories the past few days. Also, try to find some "friends" or people with open diaries on MFP who have similar goals and look at their food diaries for examples. Mine is open, but isn't the best example. I started a few weeks ago and I'm still adjusting.
  • It depends on whether SHE requested it, or her DOCTOR recommended it. I wish my mother had let me go on birth control for medical reasons. Instead, I had to wait until I was 18 and in college, so I could get it without her permission/knowledge. It was probably the best decision I've made for my body and my sanity. That…
  • He everyone! FYI, there are 2 groups that I know of for short people: "Vertical Challengers" and "Shorties! 5ft" Feel free to add me! I'm pretty new here as well, and I could use some motivational friends. (I'm also only ~5'-1".)
  • My hubby does the same thing...it drives me nuts! And if I put stuff away for him, he blames me for not being able to find it because I moved it! Geez....the exact same thing happened to me this morning! I'm hoping drinking lots of water today will help with the bloating and water weight.
  • It's a gloomy day here, too. Today I am doing yoga with co-workers during lunch. Then tonight, I plan to do a little bit of core work at home.
  • I didn't think I could afford a gym, either...but I found out the Planet Fitness near me is only $15/month. If that sounds like it's in your price range, you should check to see if there's one in your area. At home, I have a few free weights and resistance bands. Some suggestions for what you can do at home are (and I…
  • Yes. They are often bundled in a package with a couple of games. And I know there are some black friday deals coming up. You can check the ads on www.blackfriday.info.
  • I just started taking a B-complex suppliment a few days ago, and I think it's helping already. I take one in the morning with breakfast. It feels like I stay fuller longer and I'm not as tired. But I'd have to take it for a while longer before I decide if it's really helping. I use Nature's Place All Natural B-Complex.…

  • I finally stuck to my calorie goal yesterday, and I could see the difference on the scale this morning. It felt great to finally reach that (little) goal, and it's motivation to keep doing it! :-)
  • Goldfish!!! I freaking love those things! Even if I try to restrain myself, I end up just shoveling them in my mouth until they're gone...and I still want more! So I quit even buying them anymore. My other weaknesses are chocolate chip cookies/cookie dough, cheesecake, flavored chips, ice cream, and sodas. I have a little…
  • I never realised how much protein was in yogurt intil I joined MFP. I just started eating it again to help boost my protein. I need to add more protein (not just meat) into my diet as well, so I'm curious to see others' responses. :-)
