Booze is one of my biggest problems with weight loss. I love beer and I love GOOD beer. Unfortunately, it seems, that the better the beer, the more calories it contains. If I really want a FEW beers (instead of just one) I drink Budweiser Select 55. A regular beer has between 100 and 150 calories. These have 55 each. If…

I would certainly mention the incident to the management at the gym. That's a terrible thing to happen to someone at a place that is supposed to be for health and self improvement. I would think that they would certainly be concerned about behavior like that as I would imagine it's terrible for business.

I don't feel obligated to eat all the calories I'm allowed. Your body is the best indicator for what and how much you should eat. If you aren't hungry, don't eat. If you just started and you're working out a good bit, your appetite will increase in order to fuel the muscles (which burn more than fat). I know that shoving…

If that were the case, I bet the population of Arizona would skyrocket.

Any time you change your diet significantly, your body gets a signal to store that which you don't get regularly. It doesn't understand that your body won't get those nutrients again soon. It stores those things that it doesn't get often. So if you are purging those things that you believe are unhealthy, as soon as your…

Everyone has given you great tips about cooking! If you want to eat out on the reg, you should subsrcibe to the "Eat this, Not that" newsletter. They basically send you a few emails a week telling you what not to eat out. It'll tell you what fast food meals are terrible and which are ok for your diet. If you really want to…

Do you want to cook (just a little) or eat out?

You seem confined to the idea of "working out." You don't have to go to the gym to burn calories. On MFP you can log "walking dog-brisk pace" or "raking leaves." There are so many things that you can do that are actually "chores" that burn calories. There are things in your life that will increase your overall productivity…

If you eat enough of ANYTHING you will gain weight. If you eat only lean meat, fruit, nuts and vegetables, you can gain weight. At the end of the day, your body knows calories in vs. calories out. Granted, if you eat 1200 calories worth of only gummi bears and you work out every day your body won't be too happy about it.…

The most important thing about weighing yourself is not frequency, it's consistency. I weigh myself about 3 times a day. That has given me an understanding about my body, about the water retention, about the results of what and when I eat. I understand however, that those numbers will vary greatly throughout the day…

Ain't that the truth! My best friend in the world is a size 0. She's incredibly unhealthy and can barely lift a jug of milk. I worry about her everyday because she has no physical fitness. Exercising will keep you healthy and keep you young. I read an article about a woman who is 108 years old and she credits her longevity…

My cousin's wife did Couch to 5k and followed it to the letter. She lost some significant weight and it actually got her in shape enough to follow it with p90x. As a recreational runner, I've got to say, I was very impressed with her progress. One thing to remember that is important-if your goal is to run a 5k on concrete,…

I love Dr. Oz, but I think if you have to pay travel costs and a hotel stay for the time you are there, it's probably not worth it. I've been brewing my own green tea every day and drinking 3 or 4 glasses a day and I have certainly seen an increase in my weight loss. I buy the cheap Lipton green tea in bags and steep them…
