Yesterday's dinner - Thai Seitan Salad: Crispy marinated seitan, romaine, bell pepper, mango, avocado, lemongrass and tons of fresh herbs from my windowsill garden.

True Nutrition's gemma pea/brown rice protein is good. It's a little too gritty to mix with straight up liquid (for me, anyway), but I love it blended into a smoothie or stirred into oatmeal.

I eat between 1790-2000 calories per day, depending on my activity level.

A vegan diet can be perfectly healthy if you are educated and diligent about meeting your macro and micronutrients. http://www.vegansociety.com/lifestyle/nutrition/ http://www.happycow.net/vegan_nutrition101.html Please do a little research on what your body needs - I've provided two resources above - and also, do not…

Who eats three tablespoons of trail mix, anyway?

I am vegan, so you are more than welcome to check out my diary! You've gotten some great websites here, but my favorites are theppk.com, ohsheglows.com, vegandad.com, veganyumyum.com, happyherbivore.com. If you like to cook and are interested in trying international recipes, ivu.org/recipes is chock full of delicious…

I didn't really give my approval, I simply asked what the rush was because "giant wedding" and "elope" aren't the only two options here. Don't get me wrong - whether OP stays happily married or gets divorced within a few weeks, my life carries on business as usual. She can do whatever she likes. But, if she and her…

For things like stir-fries and baked tofu dishes, buy extra firm tofu, wrap it in a dish towel and weight it with some books or other heavy things to get the water out. Then I usually give it a thin coating of corn starch and stir-fry in coconut oil with lots of veggies and serve over rice. You can also make delicious tofu…

Frankly I don't think I asked anything all that rude or invasive. People live to be almost a hundred these days - I'm just questioning the decision to commit to something like that at 22. That's great that it worked out for you, but statistically, it doesn't really tend to work out like that.
 -
Then why ask people's opinions on a public forum?
 -
You're 22 - why rush to get married?

Unsure of what sort of point this is supposed to make, but very well :)

I feel like it would just end up as a sticky mass when you try to mix it with water or other liquid.

I have to argue with your phrase "humane killing". How can killing in itself be humane? I never posted here that I am more concerned with animals than with society's children - if that's how you interpreted it, that's incorrect. All the atrocities you listed are awful and horrible, and I'm certainly not downplaying them by…

I am vegan and I get ~150g of plant-based protein per day.

I completely understand your confusion regarding OPs claims about fish - no argument there. I'm simply discussing now for discussion's sake, I do have to note that no matter how local, "ethical" and "humane", humans consuming always involves taking an essential food source away from a baby cow when there are perfectly good…

That's correct, people have consumed cow's milk and eggs for a long time. However, just because we've "done something for a long time" doesn't necessarily make it right. Yes, eggs and dairy products do contain nutrients, but they are certainly not the sole source of those nutrients. I think it's important for people to be…

It isn't so much the "torture" of cows as you might picture it, but it's the idea that a cow whose milk is harvested by humans, by nature, cannot use it to feed her calf. So people who do not consume dairy for ethical reasons often are motivated by the fact that by drinking cow's milk, we are taking her secretions that…

I only like straight-up pea protein mixed into oatmeal or blended into a smoothie with a frozen banana - I find that it helps mask the "grittiness" that comes with pea protein. However, I get a gemma pea/soy protein blend from TrueNutrition that tastes delicious even when just mixed in a shaker with water. I think the…

I do! I use Bob's Red Mill's basic seitan recipe - pretty much vital wheat gluten and water - add spices, and simmer in a salty veggie broth + liquid aminos broth. Then I slice and store until I'm ready to use. It's delicious and easy!

I'd suggest keeping a pack of oil-free facial wipes in your bag - that way, you can take your makeup off and give your face a quick freshening up while you're on the go! I get mine at CVS and find them to be very convenient when I don't have time for a full shower after a workout.

I find that hemp protein is kind of gritty and doesn't have a great protein-to-calorie ratio. I get a blend of gemma pea/soy protein from True Nutrition and find the texture much closer to whey protein. If you need to use up the hemp protein, mixing it into oatmeal helps disguise some of the "grittiness".
