Yesterday was pretty much a complete rest day again. I didn't go to the gym to use the treadmill but between all of the walking I did I think I got in about 40 minutes. I can't complain about that. I'm feeling a bit better today and I'm skipping the Ibuprofen to see how I handle it. I'm hoping to get a run in tomorrow and…

Beeps, sounds like you guys had a blast! I'm glad you did :) Km, thanks for the words of encouragement! I appreciate it.

QOTD: I'm somewhere between b and c. I will be visiting with family and that inevitably means I will be force fed all kinds of yummy things :) I will TRY and aim for B though.

Beeps that's fun! I remember going to kick boxing classes at the Y with my mom when I was younger. I'm terrible at resting so I ended up walking for 40 minutes on the treadmill with various inclines. It was nice because I was still sweating but I wasn't panting... thus... not causing pain to my ribs. It was good to just…

Lcu, it seems that I have! The shoes solved all of the other issues... this is just weird and unfortunate! Hopefully this will be the LAST thing ;) Em, I will have to keep that in mind! I don't want to run with a watch because I know I will be comparing my time to last year's race. RED or WHITE: Both please :)

Km, you ROCK! That is so awesome! Congrats :) My race is in a little over a week and I don't feel ready at all. I know I can easily do the distance but I'm competitive and I know that my time will be terrible since training has been sporadic at best. I am counting myself out of the challenge for this next month. I just…

We can be injured together! Mine isn't groin though and I have NO clue how I did it. Oh well. I will just tell you what my doctor told me... rest! I'm also taking 600mg Motrin to deal with it (prescribed). Best of luck and hope you heal quick!

Rachie that's a good attitude to have! If my plans get messed up by how crowded the gym is I often get really discouraged and stretch and make a quick exit. I need that " I WILL do something" attitude sometimes! Camping: I've never been but some family members go pretty often. Maybe one of these years we will go... I think…

FAIL... FAILURE...FAIL. Okay, now that I got that out I'm good :) Last night as you can tell didn't go as planned. I was supposed to get a lifting workout in but my out of control migraine and strange abdominal pain had other ideas. Today I'm feeling MUCH better thank goodness. I still feel like I'm in the post migraine…

My only advice if you haven't been doing free weights is that you are going to have to get over it and accept the fact that you might look like "that" person at the gym. Heck, before I started this program I was using free weights and I still did a lot of trial and error at the beginning, especially with squats and dead…

Thanks for posting this! I have been incorporating paleo-like meals into my diet and have felt really good (no more stomach issues, etc.) This weekend I went back to my old eating habits just as a test and holy hell. Yeah. So, I'm thinking I'm going to try and stick as closely to Paleo as I possibly can.

Lots of catching up for me! Today will be S3A3. I really love this stage. I did a short run Saturday but was plagued with stomach pain for the rest of the weekend (I guess that's what happens when you try and go back to a less strict diet!... never again!) so I wasn't able to get in my long run. That sucks big time because…

Nice work! It's awesome when the work actually pays off :)

Small world lcu! I'm very familiar with the five college area :)

Good luck with your race as well emgel! I forgot to answer the question: I went to the University of Massachusetts.

I LOVE Stage 3. I did the B workout last night. What I don't love so much is the YTWL. No thanks. Lol. Tonight will be a 35 minute tempo run. My shoes are in! I didn't end up getting the minimalist shoes since I have a race in 2 weeks. That is not enough time for me to get used to such a drastic change. I also talked to…

I've never been to DW :( :( Cphan, I have also heard that about the incline and do it every so often. I think it's more that, very rarely will you run a completely flat run outside so always having a bit of an incline will sort of mimic that. I run quite a bit faster on the treadmill than outside though as well. Also, the…

Cphan, I didn't know those were "poppable" ... ha! Beeps, I hear you on your "controversial" view. For 2 months straight I started eating just about everything back and logging simple walks, etc. and I felt like I was forcing myself to eat just because that's what I "should" be doing. No. I cut everything (workout vs. non…

There's also a NROL4W group here on MFP! Tons of knowledgeable ladies on there.

I'm easing into this as well. I still have legumes and some bread every so often but most of my weekly dinners are turning into Paleo meals. I'd like to transition more fully into Paleo once I can sneak more past everyone else I'm cooking for ;) Feel free to add me!

There are plenty of women on here who do a Tu/Th schedule for NROL. I believe that he even mentions in the book that you can do a MWF or do the Tu/Th. It's up to you. Stick with what you can do and be consistent. Good luck!

Hey guys! I have lots of catching up to do in regards to reading everyone's posts! My ankle/knee finally seemed to sort itself out. I think it was the mixture of bad shoes and the dreadmill. The pullback was really aggravating it. I ran outside on Saturday with the bad shoes and it was so much better (besides the nice…

Chubby, thanks for the encouragement! We will see how it goes! Beeps, as a former athlete that has dealt with minor injuries it is SO hard to just rest, especially when it doesn't hurt throughout the day. I will attempt and stop if there is pain like I did the other night. Right now I have full range of motion, no…

I wouldn't say 2008 is outdated, I mean heck, in the science world we still rely on some info from the 90s or before! I think it's a GREAT tool to start getting into a lifting routine. I feel stronger, can tell through my charts that I am progressing and I have seen some minor changes (I'm only on Stage 3). I also try and…

Apparently my legs can only handle lifting and not running. At least I can do something! Last night's "run" was a disastrous 0.1 mile before I had to quit ;) I think the brace I was wearing aggravated it and treadmill running is just no bueno. Tonight I will wear the brace while lifting (doesn't hurt to use when I lift).…

Rachie, good luck on Saturday! I hope you see what you are aiming for!

Hey all. I did the first A workout of Stage 3 last night. I'm slightly sore today but it's good. I was happy with what I was able to do yesterday and I was able to push without pushing too hard and aggravating the knee/ankle. I also made a really good paleo dinner so that was yummy! The B workout seems so much harder and…

Em, I know a few people who have the Vitamix but I just can't justify the cost. I'd like to start making some more smoothies so I should check it out. Also, any good smoothie recipe recommendations are welcome ;)

Em, I REALLY want a magic bullet. I hate whipping out the huge blender on my lifting mornings. GUYS... I swear I am accident prone. First unknown knee issue and then last night I was reaching for something in the bathroom after my shower and I slipped on condensation and hurt my bad ankle. I iced/ibuprofened immediately…

Congrats Rachie! Also, that's a good feeling isn't it? ;)
