  • hi, welcome! am sure you'll love taking part in the event, it's very motivating to be running with a bunch of other people. Just train well for it :D :P
  • So I haven't been training as I should.. but I still took part in the first 1/2 marathon of the year and finished it. Super slow though. Will start training after a week of recovery and hopefully do way better in August!
  • Day 4 - still sore, or rather tired. Blame sitting 10 hrs pr day (in a course for work). Looking forward to tomorrow's run, should be sunny but cold
  • Day 1 - breathing went to *kitten* after 2km of the 5km jog planned, due to someone burning something they shouldnt. Damn. Ended with walk/jog the last 3km. Damn. Day 2 - much better, breathing was fine and completed the planned 7km jog + run/walk + jog in an hour. There was light rain and cold but the audiobook is nearing…
  • Welcome and luck :)
  • Welcome! I think with a plan you can do this easy; ) recommend focusing on either performance or weight not both. So decide which is more important. The other will come too but not as much
  • Just focus on distance, and the speed will come :) When you are ready you can switch to jog/run or run/sprint instead of walk/run but finishing the race is more important than doing so in X minutes :) If you are concerned you can probably look up last years time for that run and see what the 10 slowest were. It's different…
  • my advice, but ofc someone with more experience/knowledge might want to chime in ;) Pain in knees: Walking (and then running) up and down stairs/steep hills helped me, as well as any strength-related exercise for legs. Just dont push it to injury. Breathing: Slow down and focus on breathing instead of speed, then when…
  • Depend where you are running, if it's got or cold, dry or wet. I did 15k last summer regularly without water but as soon as it got warmer/dryer I wanted water after 5- 8k.
  • I w Oh I would love to run outside ALL the time, much more enjoyable and free, but the smoke and cold in the air kills my lungs :( I actually really like running in the rain when it's warmish outside, it's a bit less enjoyable when it's cold and windy but still better than the treadmill :d
  • thanks for the link I try to survive with an audiobook. I listen to music outside but my tempo changes with the music and the treadmill does not respond to mind-messages :P
  • well done guys :) My week: Sat - 2km walk/run Mon - 3.2km walk/run Tue - 3.2km walk/run Thu - 2.4km walk/run So only 3x 1.5+miles but oh well. Plenty of walking (23km). Hopefully next week is more, planning to go for a run tomorrow at least.
  • Sounds like a good plan, will try to get 3 more in this week :) good luck!
  • I used the Nike+ app last year (didnt follow 100% but used it as a guide), that one had the full distance 2 weeks before the race then a cooldown period before the race. Most plans I've seen build up the long distance with time and are more about running several days in a row. Only in the ones where you are trying to get a…
  • Well done both of you :) I did run/walk intervals on a treadmill, 3.2km/2 miles in 25 minutes. Managed 12km/h for only 30sek, but at least my legs felt comfortable on 10-11km/h it's just the breathing and heartrate needs catching up to continue at that state.
  • it is! I was told afterwards that I should've done the Oslo half as a first instead.. but I was happy. It is where I live anyway so used to hills. It's very scenic, and goes past all the central tourist/historic spots of Bergen.
  • hi! yubb less weight helps. I found that doing hill runs helps as well. I guess it strengthens the support muscles or something like that. I had to do them for the Bergen 1/2 last year (its allot of up and downs) and found that my knees were allot better than when I was running on even ground (mostly, you cant find…
  • Hi, my name is Rosa and I live in Norway (from Iceland). I ran a 1/2 marathon last year, my max distance was 10k the year before that, 8k the year before that, and 5k before that, yay for c25k. This year I plan to do 3 1/2 marathons (Bergen, Reykjavik, Oslo).. first one in april/may and then one in august and one in…
  • I'll do that tomorrow, need to run inside due to cold and people burning things :(
  • Well done finishing c25k! They say speed comes with more distance, so try the 10k training.. just set aside time for longer sessions :)
  • if you say this and believe it.. you are not large breasted. When you have large breasts, esp when the different between breasts and waist is large, then no amount of "appropriate attire" will stop people from looking. as to the original question: yes. in both negative and positive ways.
  • You started weight lifting. Give it a while, and the weight will go back down as the body gets used to things and muscles repair and let go of water again. If the weight is still going up in 2-3 weeks then there might be an issue, but a fluctuation of a few pounds is to be expected when you change your routine. Also as a…
  • From you, 24/7. that¨s one week ago. So either you were not truthfull there, or here. Go back to following the advice the professionals give you: Eat at 2000 calories. Consistently for at least a few weeks. You might gain a bit back at the start, since its more than you were eating before, but if they think it will stop…
  • Thank you all for your excellent suggestions! I feel better knowing a bit what to look for :) It helps allot to have the specific types, not just general label, as well.
  • Will see if I find any that fit from Brooks :) I disagree on your statement about the sales person. If it was "might fit" in a blind way, sure I would ask for a better service, but when you have really wide feet (and other portions that are not the "normal" :P) you get used to and accept the "might" as a better alternative…
  • Thank you, it gives similar results to http://www.runnersworld.com/shoe-finder/shoe-advisor. Neither addresses the wide feet part, sadly. So hoping to get some answers from female runners with wide feet :)
  • soooooo... if I am not from the US does that make me Right?
