Completed 10k training and amazed at the time!
I feel like a success.. not on the scale, the scale is being evil! but in reaching my goal of finishing a 10k and exceeding any expectations I had for myself in how fast I ran it. Yesterday was "race day", the last day of the 10k training program. It was just me though, not a proper race. It was an awesome day to run,…

Running shoes for wide feet, neutral gait.
Hi, I need to renew my running shoes soon, and would welcome recommendations on what to look for. Esp. from those who have wide feet, and a neutral gait. I wear a size W7,5 US / 38 EU and honestly I would want them to be a bit wider. What I currently have is Mizuno Wave rider 16 I think, but I have seen some reviews of the…

Why do British people drink so early in the day?
When I want to eat at a pub when touristing in the UK I have to make sure I go super early or all the pubs are filled with drunk people.. what's up with that? Why do you just go straight to the pub? Shouldnt you go home first? Change clothes, say hi to the family.. you know, normal stuff!

How to handle high cardio
Hi, I need advice, I am doing allot of cardio over the summer (untill August) and I am a bit sceptical about how much and what to eat to feel that I have the energy to keep going and lose weight. But! I do not need "just lift, stop cardio!" advice, because all the cardio I am doing has a purpose aside from weightloss…

NSV - I went 5km without realising
I had a small shock when I went to google maps to calculate how far I went today. Went out for a jog.. ok, alternating between jog and walk about 3:1 length. It seemed proper to go 3 full circles around the part where I was jogging and when I returned 40 minutes had passed. I felt great and felt like I could do more, but…

Looking for active friends
Hija, been here a few months, do like the few friends that I have but would love to have more, especially active folks. I had come accross the site before but thought "nah..", but after the summer giving me a few ocations to really feel my weight and lack of stamina I decided I needed to do something more than just "take…

Weight lifting question (and minor NSV)
I went into the free weight section all by my self. I was hoping my hubby would come join me at the gym and we would lift weights together.. but it hasn't come to that, him being too tired after work. I'm worried about my form, since I have no idea what to do.. well aside from moves that I've done through Jillian's 30 days…

Cyberbike on Wii
Those who have got it - how was your experience with it? I really like playing fitness games on the Wii, a good option for when I am too lazy to go outside :) I have also been wondering about getting a stationary bike or treadmill (and some handweights) for the autumn instead of a gym membership. Thought maybe it would be…

Men vs Women "bulking up"
Was reading a video game news site and noticed a comment on one of the articles. The article in question is linked at the bottom but is not mainly focused on my question to you, dear MFP folks :) An issue mentioned in the article is the portrait of women in video games. The characters. Females are usually skinny, while the…

NSV - xmas spent differently
Just have to share these NSV. Before the weekend I decided not to log the holidays and not to feel obligated to exercise. A weekend of sloth would be nice after 2 months of hard work, right? The 24th I put on a skirt and top I haven't managed to wear since 5-6 years ago. Back then I had managed to loose a bunch of weight…

Applesouce replacement
Hi, I have a hubby who's allergic to apples, oranges and many other fruits (berries, banana and pineapple is on the list of "can eat"). I'd love to make healthy cookies and such but many recipies are using applesouce, what would you suggest to replace it with? For example to make…

Tips on protein rich snacks/light meals?
Hi, wondering if anyone has ideas for protein rich snacks or light meals. That do not involve buying specific protein powders and such? Just need to add a bit of protein to by diet, not huge amounts. and don't really have a clue what to pick.

Hi ho
Hi all, I'm a chubby computer geek married to a wonderfull silly man. I'm trying to be healthier, and part of that is loosing weight. I've always been chubby or fat (or since I hit puperty at least), but two times I have "let myself go" to reach close to 120kgs which is just uncomfortable to live as. First time, a work…
