  • How about water? To give it a little flavor, I like to put a pitcher of water in the fridge with cut up strawberries, oranges, raspberries, or other fruits floating in it. The fruit gives just a little essence of fruit flavor to the water, making it not just boring water. You can refill the pitcher and just keep the fruit…
  • Yes, I feel that way sometimes. What helps me is to recognize all the clothes that are now so much too big, and the new clothes I have that I never could fit into before. With an 80 pound loss, there should be LOTS of clothes changes for you to help you visualize your weight loss.
  • Without having scoured the menu, in general at a mexican restaurante I would look for: fish platter, or fish tacos without eating the tortilla (as long as the fish is not fried) other seafood dish, as long as it's not fried and hold the cheese sauce steak or chicken fajitas, have only one or no tortillas Spinach salad with…
  • This is a great idea! I used to do WW online, but was annoyed that there was some "secret formula" to figure out how many points a food would cost. And I felt like I wasn't learning how to really, truly be responsible for my nutritional info, because I didn't know how many macro nutritients I was intaking, nor how much…
  • Congratulations on your success! You've done a great thing for yourself, your health, your well being. Woohoo!!!! I agree - short term goals are more motivating to me than looking too far ahead. If that's true for you too, then just don't look too far ahead! Stick with those near term goals. Look for the next 10 lbs. Look…
  • These little moments of clarity are awesome motivators, aren't they? :-)

  • Congratulations!!!!
  • Congrats on a great job! Keep going! You can do it!
  • Thanks - yep, I'm working on increasing / maintaining iron. Have finally gotten off of supplements, but still look for iron-rich food sources. Have had anemia troubles forever, and still working on it.
  • As far as WHAT to eat, here are some general thoughts on what I do, and it's been successful as a weight loss method: Breakfast: Aim for 250-320 calories. Ensure there is protein, preferably iron, not much sugar. I usually do either oatmeal with milk and an apple, or cereal with milk. Cereal choices are usually Fiber One…
  • I started out really simply - I use the Wii Fit Biggest Loser Challenge game. it has various levels, and will do a fitness analysis for you to help determine where to start.
  • Try compression shorts instead. or yoga pants. Works for me.
  • Congratulations on beginning a new lifestyle of healthier eating! Hooray for you! Four days isn't really long enough for your body shape to have changed much, and so it's probably not surprising that you found your shopping trip to be a disappointment. Give yourself some more time. Keep up the good eating habits. Drink…
  • I too really relate to this feeling - so far I've lost 17.6lb, and am having a lot of trouble seeing it in the mirror. Some of my clothes are too loose, but some are just now feeling comfortable again (I guess I wore uncomfortable clothes all the time???) The photos are showing some progress, but it's not as dramatic as I…
  • Good questions - I want to know too!
  • Bottled Water instead of soda, lemonade or alcohol. Peanuts in the shell - take longer to eat, and are high protein, though you have to watch the calories. Popcorn with no butter. Why try to hide your healthy habits? Just order what you order to suit your goals, and if they ask questions, just tell them you're trying to be…
  • Well, what I do is one-armed jumping jacks, and use my other arm/hand to hold myself in place, if you know what I mean. saves the painful bouncing, and still get most of the benefit of the jacks.
  • Do some more exercise to earn some more calories! Jogging in place for 15 minutes will do the trick! or go for a brisk walk. Or go up/down stairs for a while. or jumping jacks. whatever! You will feel proud and satisfied afterward, and then can enjoy something with protein, like some peanut butter on toast or something.
  • I'll join you. I'm planning to walk/jog 50 miles in September. Will walk 2x/week at 1.6 miles, Walk/jog 3x/week at 2 miles for my first week of C25K training, and then walk 3miles on weekend. Total 12.2per week. Will need to add an extra weekend 3 miler to make the 50 miles for the month. Big, scary goals, but that's what…
  • I'll give it a shot! I have been walking 1.75mi every morning before work, and about 3 mi on Saturdays. Beginning tomorrow, I'm going to start the Couch to 5K program, hoping to finish by Halloween. The 50 miles in September goal will fit nicely with my walking schedule and my new C25K program!
  • I have recently found that exercising really does put me into a better mood and mindset, especially if I'm feeling depressed. I was struggling last week, had some things going on, and I was really blue. I changed my schedule and made room for a full afternoon at home. I did a couple hours worth of extra exercising -…
  • Stay on plan with nutrition at least 6 days per week Continue morning walks each weekday 100% Evening exercise 3xweek Lose >= 5lb
  • Walk 30 minutes first thing out of bed. Breakfast (cereal, coffee) at 7:30am Morning snack around 10:30 Lunch around 12:30 or 1:00 Sometimes lunchtime walk of 20 minutes Afternoon Snack around 3:00 sometimes another small snack around 5:00pm Dinner 6:30pm Exercise with Wii Fit 3 nights per week after 8:00pm This has been…
  • First - love and accept yourself, just as you are. Maybe your weight is not what you want it to be, but that does not define you or your worth. (This was the hardest step for me!) Next - smile for the camera, because no matter your weight, you are beautiful and worthy and should enjoy every moment of your vacation. Next -…
  • Incredibly original - NOT!!! 1 cup cereal (usually Fiber One or Crispix), 1/2 cup 1% milk, coffee, and some creamer. Sometimes I'll go crazy and add some berries to the cereal. I know. Bo----ring.
  • Cool, thanks for the tip, didn't know they had that on their site.

  • Ah yes, the "must go" restaurants of your home town can be so hard to deal with! I have a few myself. Sounds like you're having trouble making smart portion choices, perhaps because of habits you learned long ago associating these over-indulgences with good times or fond memories. If you can, try to go to these places only…
