  • Thanks to MFP I have done a check on food reports and have averaged 120 g of Carbs per day over the last 3 months. Fibre averages at 20 g per day and sugar comes in at 50 g a day. The sugar is not added sugar, just sugar from my food I am eating (Fruit, dairy). With this in mind I think I will drop to 50 g of carbs and see…
  • Thanks for list!!
  • Thanks for info :-) I will check out the recipes on the sight so I can get a better understanding of what I can eat that won`t throw my carbs too high. I have been reading a lot about low carb and understand that initially weight lost is water and then you move to a more effective fat burning stage. I believe that my body…
  • I suppose it comes down to what you are happy for your body to be. Both strength training and cardio have positives. As you are at a weight you are happy with (Congrats on your success!) then concentrate on strength training with smaller amounts of cardio. Strength training can be a form of cardio with heart rates soaring…
  • Thanks for advice. I cannot believe how many grams of carbs are in all the foods I love. Just got back from a 10km run and had a banana and MFP logged it at 30 carbs. Will keep up with my plan reducing until i hit my "sweet" spot of the minimum amount of carbs my body needs. I bought some ketostix so will do weekly tests…
  • Hi, I quit 18 months ago. It does get easier and I agree with using a straw for some inital relief as you are using the same motion of having a ciggie without the nasty stuff that you actually inhale. Please keep going as it is worth it. You are worth it!! Your lungs and whole body in general will reap the rewards. Today I…
  • Hi, I love mine as well and have logged up a few miles on it over the last year. Just recently replaced both batteries in strap and watch. Word of advice though: always remember to rinse out the strap and also to throw it in the wash regularly if you use it consistently. Happy Trails
  • Hi, The only reliable way is to get a chest strap. I have a Polar 4 and I went for an hour walk the other day (6.68km/4.1 miles) and burned 230 calories from my HRM yet my phone App (Endomondo) said I had burned 544 calories. My HRM data had my heart rate at an average of 97 beats per minute. Both have my weight (158…
  • I don`t think it is bad at all. You are doing something that you take great joy out of at the same time as giving your heart and lungs a good workout. I love running not only for the exercise but for the "time out" it gives me from this crazy world. I have just now come back from my 6 km interval run where I run down a…
  • G`day from Launceston Tasmania:flowerforyou:
  • Ha ha This is very True:laugh:
  • Hi, I am 5 foot 1 inch and suffer with large breats. Current Bra size is 12G (From Australia so measurements are 80cm under bust and 104cm around bust). I am sitting at 153 pounds now and I am just going to see how I feel at 140 and take it from there. I am hoping that all body parts become more streamlined. My aim is to…
  • Hi, I wear my HRM for the duration of my sessions of 30 minutes of strength training and 30 minutes of cardio. My HRM tells me that with my strength training I usually burn around 200 calories which is determined by my heart rate. Cardio is very much part of my strength training as I have minimal rest between sets and lift…
  • That happened to me the other day!!! It does have to do with the level of the floor and you may have to test your scale to make sure it is giving a true reading by placing a known weight (have you any dumbells or free weights that are marked with weight value?) and place them on the sacle to determine if the reading is…
  • Thanks for Info. I will call off the priest!!!! From now on I will move it around the house until I find the lightest weight!!!! No seriously I will use your advice a test the scale with a pre weight of some sort to make sure the reading is true before getting on.
  • Sometimes I forget to hit the start button and it misses some of the calories burnt until i get it going. That has only happened a couple of times as I don`t like missing out on my calories burnt!!!! I have had mine now for a while and it is beginning to stop and start and gets me to check the transmitter when it won`t…

  • It has been 1 year since I gave up. I went cold turkey and once those first few days were out of the way (Nicotine withdrawal I suppose) it became easier. Just keep focused and ride the emotions out without reaching for those ciggies. You will become stronger for it, not only in mind but in body as well. Drink plenty of…
  • Forgot to mention details: I`m 5 Foot 1 Inch, started at 160 pounds, now 153.
  • Hi, I am in exactly the same position as you. I have averaged 1200 calories netted over the last 3 months and whilst i lost some to start with I have hit the wall and nothing is happening. MFP has my TDEE at 1760 and my calories per day at 1260 with activity listed as lightly active with a weight loss of 1 pound a week. I…
  • Yes, running burns more calories than walking. Higher heart rate increases calorie burn so the harder you work the more you burn. What is important is to keep mixing up cardio, as Jambe pointed out your body adapts and becomes energy efficient after a while so whilst running is fantastic so is a nice long stroll.
  • I`ve worn my polar 4 in my RPM classes and I burn 335 for 45 minutes at a heart rate the same as yours. I weigh 153 pounds.
  • I`m glad to say that I have just came back from a 4.5KM run over rough terrain and all my body parts are intact!! I was more worried about running over snakes than uterus`s though!!!
  • Hi, We are nearly the same, Current Weight 153 Goal weight 125-130 5 Foot 1 Inch Age 43 Sending friend request, Cheers Tania
  • I`m 5'1" and 43 years young:laugh: Current weight: 153 Goal weight: 132 Are you out there twin??
  • Hi, I wore my Polar ft4 during a RPM class (Aussie spin class) and it logged I had burned 325 claories for 45 Minutes. I was surprised as I work my butt off in that class and presumed I would of burned more. I can burn more doing 30 minutes of weight training and 30 minutes of interval training on the Treadmill which I did…
  • This happened to me yesteday whilst I was doing my interval run on the treadmill. I looked like someone had thrown a bucket of water over my head and I was on the flat out stage and was breathing so hard a little bit of spit came out of my mouth. How embarrasing!!!:blushing: I had a quick look around and no one seemed to…
  • Hi Emma, As you are just starting off I would ease your way into it. The beauty of interval training is that you go flat out for a length of time then slow down for a length of time. I run this way on the treadmill every couple of days. Try running at 9km for a minute and then walking at 5km for 2 minutes as recovery to…
  • Hi, You have taken the first step by starting with My Fitness Pal. This webiste has taught me alot in regards to nutrition. What I love about it the most is that it makes you accountable for what you eat and how much you exercise. It all comes down to you. Keep honest with yourself and believe that you can do it. Sure you…
  • Perhaps not a case of ignorance but lack of knowledge of Dr Oz`s endorsement contracts. We are all searching for the quick easy fix , but most of us know those fixes only exist through clean eating and exercise, and some may find hope and success with other options. That is why this website is so interesting because we can…
