  • Thanks a lot guys. I think starting at the 50-60% range makes sense. I obviously won't see major gains once I get up to my maxes but maybe it will help to go lighter for a couple weeks until I get there. I'll try it for 6 weeks and see. The 5x5 is a good routine regardless of where you're at imo. As for my goals, I'm…
  • I've been lifting for 6 months steady and those are my maxes. I'm wanting to try this routine.
  • Not sure why it made 2 posts.
  • Thanks for all the help everyone. I especially appreciate the suggestion to take it slow before I dive head first into the diet while still learning crossfit. I think this will help me as this time of the year is extremely difficult for me to diet anyways with all the stuff we have going on. I've only been doing crossfit…
  • thanks for the help, im thinking about going full on paleo, just concerned with what to eat everyday. i need to research more into it before hand so i can be ready.
  • i'm also debating doing a cycle where everyother day doing paleo and the other days doing regular diets. I find it hard to imagine ever having a lot of energy doing the paleo, but maybe I just need to adjust idk. Thanks, ill try the sweet potatoes
  • Kiki is the size of your caloric deficit any factor in that? So someone that is on a very low calorie diet may need more breaks or or longer breaks then someone on a small deficit? I'm just curious.
  • I tried the powder from walmart but to me it tasted horrible. So i go with the chocolate protein powder from costco. With milk it tastes pretty good, not as good with water tho. It comes in a huge 6lb bag to so it lasts for long time for me.
  • To have gained 11lbs of fat in the last month you would have had to eat 38,500 calories more then your tdee. That equals 1426 calories more per day over your tdee which is pretty hard to beleive you did. Rest assured it's not fat weight if you actually did gain 11lbs. edit-fixed numbers since I read 10lbs vs 11.
  • that with splenda instead of sugar would even make it even less calories if you like splenda.
  • good job, i know sweats are the main reason I have gained weight over the last 4 years. Everyear around the holidays i gain around 10lbs from all the junk food at work, cake, cookies, candies etc. I still eat some on occasion but I have really cut down like 95% of it.
  • same here i started this week and i feel dumb doing the bar. but i know it's going to get alot harder soon so ill keep with the program other then i started deadlifts at 135(since you really need 1plate to get the correct height) and bench at 95.

  • by the way here is me before I started to change my life. pic is Jan 2012.
  • Here is my 2 week progress pics. The first pic I was 243.8 and then 2nd pic is today im 244. I havn't lost weight but I have put on some muscle from working out alot harder since i have been doing em2wl. I still have along way to go to lose my man boobs and love handles.
  • it depends, if you are putting on muscle or not. if you are weight lifting and putting on muscle that should help burn extra calories, but that will take some time. you could also drop your calories alittle less then 15% since you are at your goal weight. maybe 5 or 10% under tdee.
  • Pretty much everyone covered it, but the only thing I would add is, and most people don't take this into account. If you recently started lifting weights, or started lifting heavier then before you are most likely adding some muscle weight in there. Along with that comes more water weight and glycogen weight. It's hard to…
  • I tried the c25k routine a couple of weeks ago and after just the first week my right knee was killing me. Now i've heard some trainers say that if you are really overweight that running is not advised, but I've also heard of very heavy people doing it with no apparent problems. I just wanted to point this out to you,…
  • Ok finally got some time to get on here. Anyways what you have to do i get into the gym and hit the weights hard. With such a large deficit you have likely lost a ton of muscle which as you probably know actually hinders your weight loss since more muscle equals more calories burned. Definetly up your calories alot. If…
  • Your bmr is pretty close to mine. What are your stats if you dont mind posting them? I can probable give you some info on what I have been doing later, currently on my cell.
  • Yes it is accurate and yes that sounds about right. I can have huge differences if i sit on my butt all day vs. walking around alot all day. One thing I would like to suggest to you is please up your calories. Going by your diary you are severly undereating and that is not even taking into account your exercise calories.…
  • i agree if hungry eat. especially in your case. your body will tell you many things about your health you just have to listen.

  • ive had my bmf link now for over a month and i love it. It took me a few days to get used to the strap on my arm. but after a while I got used to it and it does not bother my arm anymore. i love the link so i can bring up live data on my phone anytime i use it. i also like the workout app so i can see my workouts on my…
  • You need to eat those extra calories. You said you still had 500 Cal or so to go. If you like peanut butter and jelly that's what eat when I need more food. Pb&j with crackers is great to close that gap. I like it on crackers, Ritz is what I like, I even make pb&j burritos. Just find a simple food that you can easily get…
  • What did you do to burn 995 calories? That's alot.
  • If you are gauging your "look bigger" based on what you see in the mirror I would not even worry about it. As I said it could be increased glycogen and water stores in your muscles, which would explain a fuller look in the mirror and an increase on the scale. Or it could be your imagination. Take weekly pictures of…
  • I have taken them in the past and didn't like em. They are basically caffein in a pill. I would not recommend them as you don't need them to lose, just eat a deficit and exercise.
  • My first week I actually lost almost 3lbs. which is common when you up your calories, since when your body is retaining alot of water(which is the case if you have large deficits) it will release the water when you eat alot. This is my second week and I have gained a few pounds over this week. I pigged out last…
  • It is very difficult for your body to actually get larger when you are on a calorie deficit. Even a small one as we use with em2wl. I was watching a diet program special on hbo the other nite. They said you can lose weight even cutting 10calories off of your diet. It would take along time but you would lose eventually. Now…
  • I can't be sure because I don't know everything about your diet, exercise, how long you have been eating this much, how you ate before etc. But the simplest reason is when you eat more, alot of the increase is probably carbs. Carbs go to fuel your muscles as glycogen and are stored in the muscles and liver. Hence you could…
  • Most people eat the same everyday regardless of workout or non workout days. I would recommend just eat your cut value everyday. Now whether you can lower your calories the answer is yes, but the problem is you really don't know how many calories you are burning everyday exactly. Even if you don't work out you could burn…
