  • why do people keep saying this when it has been clinically proven false? not meaning to be rude, just there's so much misinformation out there.
  • Did you mean he said stop eating 3 hours before bed? If so yes if you have stomach or digestion issues if you eat late. Hell if I eat taco bell late or before bed I'll be up and on the toilet guaranteed lol. So yes if that's the case don't do it. But there are tons of people that fast all day and eat all their calories at…
  • Alot of good replies here, but a few things I would add. It's not so much about when you eat or how often. That is often told to people and it's incorrect. If you wanted to eat all of your calories in one big meal that's fine( I can't do it myself but alot do). Also I don't think it's what your eating besides the fact you…
  • This has been clinically proven, time of consumption does not matter. How often does not matter or how large a meal. These are all fallacies often pushed on us by the government (paid off by certain food producers/supp makers). You daily(or even weekly) food intake is what matters the most. Again this is not opinion it's…
  • calipers only measure subcutaneous fat and are very easy to screw up the measurements(making them very inacurrate to get reliable info). Here is a list of 10 things you may need to know if you want to go by them. This is just for your info as I dont actually believe you can get accurate bodyfat % from calipers, but this…
  • That formula was invented in the early 1900's on healthy active men. It is not considered to be as acurate on current unhealthy(most of todays society) as Mifflin-st. joer is. Also if you don't know your true bodyfat% then it is even less accurate. I go with Mifflin myself and there is almost 200 cal difference between the…
  • One question i have regarding the bodymedia fit is I wear short sleave shirts for work and can't have it showing. Am I able to wear it higher up on the arm and not be visible at work? It looks pretty small so i think I could wear it under my work shirts, but I'd like to know for sure before i buy. thanks
  • Also regarding bodyfat%, unless you got it tested by a medical facility that uses very accurate ways to calculate yours then disregard it. Most ways we get it are not accurate at all. None of them take into account true muscle mass, bone density and other factors. I have a scale that does the electro bodyfat calc everytime…
  • here's a really good site, it has multiple formulas you can use to get bmr and tdee and other things. http://www.1percentedge.com/ifcalc/ one calc says your bmr is 1681 and the other says 1769 (this is at 5'2" since it can't take 5'1.5") so the difference is only 88 calories. I would go with the lower number for your bmr…
  • You have to want it really bad is pretty much what works for me. It sounds like you may binge sometimes? If that is the case you need to understand what triggers your binge. Alot of times we are not really hungry but certain things make us think we are such as tv commercials(big one for me), depression, alot of other…
  • a 517 difference between 2 formulas is way more then I have ever seen. For me when I was 270 there was a 200 cal difference between the 2 usual formulas. So I am guessing one of those numbers is incorrect. If you give us your height, weight and age we can let you know approximately what it is.
  • For me running is very painful at my weight (back and knee pain) but I hope to get really into it once I get lighter. I mainly just walk fast at an incline now until I can run. But no running is not bad for you, unless you are extremely heavy, in which it can cause stress pain in the legs.
  • It all depends on intensity. For someone to come on here and say you don't need rest is borderline rediculous. But apparantly you got what you wanted to hear. Hope it works out for ya.
  • Check this site out if you wish, it can give estimates of your calories burned. Of course it's not exact (unless you put exact info in). But playing with your numbers it says brisk walking (your weight and time)236 calories. Race walking=405 calories and I couldn't put in the info for running since your speed was…
  • One more question, your heart rate was at 177 for most of the workout?
  • If that's the case, it's not about how many days you exercise. You may be at your ideal weight. You got to remember muscle weighs more then fat. So if you are building some muscle from your exercise you could easily weight 10lbs more then if you were sedentary and skinny. Get your bodyfat % tested, if it is in average…
  • I don't know what they do on TBL I don't watch it, and it's only for a couple months right? And no, pro athletes do take rest days. Not sure why you think your body doesn't need rest, but it does. Now of course if your workout is very low intense like walking at a leasurely pace for 15mins a day you can do that non stop…
  • You need to put rest days in there. You may wish to lose faster but your body needs time to heal. Over exercising may take time for it to catch up to you, but if you don't rest you will hit a wall. I'm not going to list all the things that can happen, but among them are injury, muscle tearing, hitting plateaus. Your heart…
  • I agree your hrm should be alot more accurate. Only issue I see is burning almost 500 cal in 33minutes is alot unless you were at a full out run. I'm 250 and male and I don't burn that many calories in 30mins keeping my heart rate around 75 to 80% of max. So if you are running at a very high pace and getting very close to…
  • If you were being sarcastic then my apologies if I read it wrong, sometimes sarcasm is not easily conveyed via forums. I beleive the next season should help with this, wether it satifies your wish completely nobody can say. I find it a little presumptuous that you would assume this without any knowledge of who I am.…

  • I really think this is not the best statement to make either. What does it matter what color they are? If they are whiney as you say does their skin color really make a difference? I just wish we ALL could stop making statements based on race on either side. It really does not promote anything to single out someone's skin…

  • Ya i read about that, it's so awful some people say/do things like that. I loved all the characters in the movie, my only complaint was none of them looked like they were really starving.
in Michonne Comment by scottc561 March 2012
  • i agree with this except regarding going into starvation mode, because not all situations are the same and bmr is not what matters the most in figuring this out. The deficit is, like you said what determines wheter you starve yourself or not. From several studies ive read regarding this the concensious is eating 50% less…
  • do some research if you dont believe it
  • it's probably giving you your tdee, which is how many calories you burn per day on average. that is not how much you eeat if you want to lose.
  • thats incorrect. bmr is how much you burn if you do nothing all day and sit in bed basically. If you eat your TDEE(total daily energy expenditure minus 500 you should lose 1lb per week. If you eat at your bmr you will lose also since it is a deficit from your tdee.
  • i was wandering this myself a while back. turns out the mifflin-st.joer is more accurate if bodyfat % is not known. so i use that standard now. the difference fo me is almost 200cal.
  • what i can't seem to figure out is why such a variance between what an ounce is? some things says it's 28grams others say 31 grams and i have dried fruit that says 1 portion is 1oz or 20grams. why such a difference for the same measurement?
  • Their deficit is stated in the article. 2.5lbs per week which is 8750calories, Nothing mind blowing, but since they were already skinny to start with they had drastic effect imo.
