Apparantly some ate less and some more, based on their amount of weight loss. But I agree 1800 or even 1500 doesn't sound like much of a starvation diet. It just puts it into perspective when you see people eating 1000 calories and then exercising on top of that another 500c. (this was an actual poster the other day that…

I've done low/no carb diets about 4 times over the years. Couple times was doctor monitored. They can work until you get off them. Here's a good article regarding some of the truths and myth's of atkins and others alike. After you read it do some research before you decide for yourself. Atkins is not a lifstyle that most…

To figure out your goals manually figure your bmr. It is approx. 1770 from the info you gave. Then you have to figure out your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) good site for this is here http://www.1percentedge.com/ifcalc/ So as an example if your sedentary your TDEE is approx. 2121. Then multiply your TDEE x7…

Your bmr is about 1770, so you may have input something wrong. Or did you input a workout? Because it will add your workout calories to your daily total automatically. Does it say 1990 before you input anything into your diary? If so redo it, it's off.

Eating more increases your metabolism which in turn burns more fat. May be something to consider, although I didn't plug your numbers into the calculator so I can't say what you should do.
-
it depends on your stats/activity level/desired level of weight loss. ?

I agree its a deficit, but not the idea of starvation I got before I read the article. You got to remember a skinny young man, probably average of 5'8"(people were shorter back then I beleive reading somewhere) has a bmr of not much more then 1500 to 1600. So yes with the walking (average of about an hour a day @3miles per…

I just read the article on the study. During the starvation phase they ate 1560 calories per day. I would have guessed they would have ate alot less to starve. There are tons of people on here that eat alot less then that.

Just because she says she's read all the negative points does not mean she has, or that she actually understands all the negative "points". There have been people that have died and or had major organ failure from some of these cleanses. I'm am not saying this specific type she is referring to is one of the deadly ones or…

Thanks for all the replies, I really beleive they are causing water weight now. I'm pretty anal about weighing myself every morning and I can almost tell you what my weight will be the nite before lol. I wish I could just throw the scale in the trash anyways, it causes all kinds of problems that I know but can't stop. I…

I was mainly just looking to see if anyone on mfp has had issues such as mine. I will do more research off the site for my curiosity. Thanks for the info.

very helpful reply:blushing:

probably because people that have researched this know you don't need to use artificial cleanses, your body does this naturally. And there's some products that can actually have very damaging results on your body from using them for cleansing.

I've done it couple times in the mornings on my days off before I weigh-in for the week. Since it burns off any excess water i'm retaining from the nite before. It really is not any harder then doing cardio on a full stomach. My energy is about the same either way. I would do it everyday if I had mornings off. One thing is…

And to the op, there's tons of good ideas on things to eat at nite. I got this one from a guy that lost like 150lbs. Eat sugar free jello at nite if your worried about going over your calories. It has almost zero calories and it's very filling.

If you say something enough it becomes true regardless of facts. "Eat more often to speed up your metabolism" or "don't skip breakfast or you'll not lose weight" etc. I'm so tired of seeing this constantly from people. I don't think it will ever be accepted since it goes against what all the "Experts" say...

The only way to really up your metabolism is 1-eat alot(not what we want to hear right) 2-add muscle: this is the best way as it increases your resting metabolism. 3-do drugs(another bad thing) lol I call it the jenny crank diet...

bread(carbs) will cause some water weight. it's natural part of bodily function. The more carbs you eat the more water you'll retain. i beleive it's something around 3 parts of water retained for every part of carb. Not sure of the exact amounts off top of my head. I wouldn't worry about it. 2 slices is not a lot.

I'm just wandering, do you know how long you can go without eating before your metabolism slows? A hint it's not in one day..
-
looks tasty gona try this

mine i got from walmart. not sure of the brand but it is glass and has the bodyfat test which i feel is completely useless. it is very good as far as being accurate tho. i can jump on it 5x and get the same result. it cost around $30 +

So I know nothing of the series other then what I've seen on the show (never read comics) and all day I have been deliberating with co-workers about the 2 zombie pets. I thought they were to keep other walkers off her and from what I'm reading here that is correct:) It makes sense, having 2 of them around her will mask her…

I do a fast everyday 16-18 hours, I'm not a fan of long term fasts tho.

Eating more often DOES NOT, i repeat does not increase your metabolism. Sorry just had to respond to this since I used to believe this also and it does not help to keep telling people this. If you want to eat 5 or 6 times a day thats fine. If you want to eat 3 x that's fine to. Neither one will matter. It also doesn't…

ok so it did work then. thanks
-
Really? I wander if they have ironed out the problems I have read regarding fitbits. Does it work just like any other hrm? using chest strap ect.?
-
bump-anyone have an answer to my question?
-
I have a question about this topic also. Do any other hrm's polar or otherwise able to be left on all day to try and get how many calories you burned all day? like your tdee. I heard some only work during exercise. Does the fitbit do this either? It would be nice to be able to see your whole day calorie burn.
-
This is incorrect, more meals will just make you want to eat all the time. This is well documented, the amount of meals per day DOES NOT affect anything. I wander when this will actually be put to rest. The H20/fiber/protein is correct tho.
