  • lots of good advice here. Really, its your head, let it think. Music is great but so often ipods are not allowed in a race so I train with out it. When it gets painful I think about the finish, that last k or mile.
  • Use your old clothes as a guide. Find something that is tight and watch yourself shrink into it, adjust accordingly depending on how you shrink. If you follow the calorie recommendations you should lose.
  • O how I love chicken wings! I think my favorite part may be the crispy skin, will have to try them naked.

  • I usually wait a couple of hours. Depends on the meal, soup would not scare me I might run as soon as it would not slosh. This is really individual. You will just have to experiment and see how you tummy reacts and make the proper adjustments.
  • Acclimation is another word for training. Most people can acclimate to cooler or hotter temps you just have to ease intoit like any other form of fitness. Pretty soon I will wake up to 90+ degree temps and 100+ in the afternoons. You could just do the treadmill but climate fitness is something we should strive for. Just be…
  • This is a great thread!
  • From my own experience I can not disagree with a single thing. I still can't pass one of the those shops that sells frozen yogurt though! Wall to wall machines with that tangy goodness. I am very fond of avocado yogurt and some sort of grass flavor, sounds so gross but is just so good. Thankfully they are all 100 miles…
  • It's been quite a ride! You will be fine. I will let you know when I get the free fall thing done. I have had a goal for the last five years or so to get that done on any birthday I weigh 200 pounds or less. I skipped it this year to run a triathlon. I think I will just skip the birthday now and just do it! You inspire me…
  • You inspire me! Good Job!
  • Follow it, Injury is the big concern and there are so many things that can go wrong. 10% is plenty!
  • LIve once in a while. You are going to find, if you let it go, live a healthy lifestyle most of your days, it will have no impact what so ever. Sodium puts more weight on you, but, at the end of the day is only water and leaves pretty quickly.
  • A good starch that is calorie dense is sweet potatoes, I nuke em, drizzle with olive oil or butter (IMO butter is a good fat in moderation, way better than trans fat!) and spice it up. Cottage cheese is great too, lots of protein that will not hurt you, the full fat kind will add a few more calories. All the…
  • Butter! If it wasn't any good no one would try and imitate it. My trainer told me to eat more fat.
  • I still do the french fry thing every Tuesday! I add tonasco to the ketchup as well as a little salt Did not know I was such a baddie. I still believe I can eat it all and so far it is serving me, my vices came in amounts. Eating ice cream right out of the container was my big deal, not just once, but all day until it was…
  • There you go, I know you can do it!
  • I rest every night, get your sleep. I also take at least one whole day off. Lifting weights you should work different muscles consecutive days. Give a group 48 hours between sets.
  • I have a friend who worked at the Chicken Plant, he said all that chunk formed "meat" is a gray toothpaste, it is injected in a form then cook, grill lines are painted on. I will still eat them, I like Silly Putty.
  • It is not like there is some magic to the 24 hour day. Get your exercise in if you can but enjoy yourself and put in a hard workout tomorrow. I often feed a tomorrow workout today because I just can't eat enough in one day. It goes the other way too, I sometimes leave calories on the table because I know tomorrow I will…
  • Wow! Good Job! Best news I have heard in a very long time. So, very happy for you.
  • Brother, I for one led the charge, pastors are fat. I was a fat Pastor and my congregation reflects that fact. Several things motivated me to get fit, the biggest wake up call came after the earthquake in Haiti. I was on my states initial assessment team early last year and I noticed something, the men down there are fit,…
  • I am a bit notorious for my attitude that there is no bad food. I will eat anything, at least once. I love PB, used to eat it everyday. I hear, especially from this guy, http://www.bengreenfieldfitness.com/, that nuts, especially PB are inflammatory. I have switched to homemade almond butter ( 30 g ground salted almonds ,…
  • I don't know if I have lost so much weight, there are some awesome successes on this sight that make me look like a light weight! I lost all my weight at home. II did have a home treadmill type of equipment, but I did not go to the gym. I do go now, but have not lost the majority of my weight there. Whatever gets you…
  • You are a Genius!
  • I have an enormous sweet tooth. Still do. What is working for me is really two things, many will disagree, they are: I allow my self a serving of anything sweet I want everyday, and I do not eat any artificial sweeteners. In fact I will eat sweets whenever they are presented to me, I just eat very little. Over time my…
  • I just eat it, best protein bang for the bowl. Liking it is beside the point. It is just one little cup.
  • I just reconcile all the numbers with my scale.
  • It seems your medical care provider is covered. Your health care professionals may be right, your exercise may hurt you. I know your pain, I have bulging disks, I have had surgery to correct a ruptured disk. Impact is your enemy. Low impact or no impact may still be possible. So, be very careful and think it through. When…
  • At least go the store and try some on and if you are uncomfortable with the price, walk out. They will forget about you when they make the next sale. I bought Newtons, $100 sounds cheap to me, I really like them. They fit me, they complement my running style, hardly anyone knows what in the heck they are. I tried on a lot…
