You're likely retaining water from the sodium in that meal. No biggie. Drink water and give it a couple of days. It has nothing to do with carbs and you did not gain fat.

If you think it is negatively affecting you, give it up for a couple of weeks. Then eat a big ole' gluten-filled meal (for me, it was only a sandwich). You will IMMEDIATELY feel the effects if you are allergic and/or sensitive to it. It's easily done and you'll know if it's an issue for you. For me, the celiac test came…

Calorie counter for life here. I have tried to go without counting several times, but I inevitably gain. I need the accountability of making sure the numbers even out. Maintenance is the same as weight loss with an additional treat here or there. You can't just start back eating like you used to without ending up where you…

I read something recently that resonated with me: "Problems with sleep are most common during the prementrual phase." I just so happened to be doing the same thing you are at the time I read it - going to sleep fine and then waking up in a couple of hours and not being able to go back to sleep. It just so happened to be…

LOVE it. I have been at it for more than two years and have drastically increased my fitness level as well as strength. My favorite part is the group aspect - I am much more motivated to do a workout when I am alongside others doing the same. I also enjoy the fact that I don't have to "figure out" what I want to do each…

My traps have increased immensely with CrossFit - they are most sore when I do cleans, particularly hang cleans.

I just got fitted and the guy simply asked what is the largest size shoe I would normally wear. Since I normally wear either an 8 or 8.5, he went with the 8.5. I have plenty of room in the toes but they're not too big.

I sweat tons more when it's humid.

Yes - recomp = eat at or just below maintenance and lift heavy weights. :)

I'm just sort of speechless.

Not a good bat wing pic, but I did go from "fluffy arms" to strong ones.

Agreed.

I don't weigh prepackaged food, slices of bread, etc. All of this is an estimate, anyway, so it is close enough that it doesn't affect weight loss. I also don't weigh ketchup or log gum. I think that's about it. I weigh the rest. Except lettuce. I usually don't weigh lettuce because it's like 10 calories anyway.

I've never known anyone to burn 1,000 calories on a three mile run. What is your activity level set at? I would say that the steps equate to about 650 if you take out about 3,000 steps for normal activity. I don't find that my calorie expenditure is that much higher for running - I just get the steps in faster. That would…

Set different goals - more fitness related than body size?

@amenok I actually mix the chocolate with skim - it's perfect.

Lactose free milk for us - can't tell the difference.

I think apples will be fine if you slice first and don't bite directly into them with your front teeth.

My tap water tastes horrible. I buy gallons of drinking water and refill my Contigo bottle from that. Or, if I'm at work, I use the filtered water fountain.
-
I did not know this was a thing.

Do the CrossFit. It is worth it, and I have a feeling you will love it.

That trainer is an idiot (but we've established that). Lift all the weights.
-
I eat the 1 ounce bags.

Any overall body fat reduction will help, and strength training is always a good thing. :)

The goal is to get better, obviously. Everything is measurable. The programming is not random. While the workouts are varied, it is not haphazard as you have made it out to be. We regularly work on back squats, deadlifts, bench press, etc. Being varied does not equal unstructured. FWIW

@Myles10987 I used to add 12 calories per minute of the actual metcon, which most days came out to 240 (close to your 250). My FitBit now calculates my calorie burn for the entire hour and it is generally in the low 300 range, so I'd say your 250 is a good number. I have been doing CrossFit for two years. I'm 44 and it has…

I don't approach the subject of eating much aside from pointing out occasionally that my daughter might need to consider more protein and less junk (for health reasons). She will still say things like, "so you think I'm getting fat?" to which I have to remind her that I am talking about healthy choices and never weight. I…

Set up your account for 0.5 pound per week loss and eat your exercise calories. Fuel your body and trust the process.
