  • It takes more than 24 hours, probably two days. I did this the 24th (felt like I was going to throw up Christmas Eve night) and I've been feeling pretty good. I didn't eat that much yesterday and still felt bloated, tired, and dehydrated. Today has been great for me so far.
  • I'll join this...my goal is 10-15 pounds and why not get 10 gone in a month? Ah I'm excited!
  • That's interesting...isn't it a great feeling when you're legitimately full though? Congrats!
  • Weigh yourself tomorrow. More motivation. I went to bed 6 pounds heavier than the night before, motivation to run this morning.
  • I ran this morning (40 minutes, longest I have ran since October) but I've already eaten like 1500 calories this morning haha! Christmas is tough for me because I LOVE cookies and other sweets. I'm going to take a break for a long time though (around Dinner) and then eat some more sweets later tonight. It's Christmas…

  • 1. Hit a goal weight of 150 lbs 2. Once I get to 150, go back up to 170 (without all the fat!) 3. Develop my "3-pack" into a visible 6-pack (I'm pale also so it makes it even more difficult to see) 4. Run 20-25 miles per week (or burn 1000 calories per day) 5. Get a "V"-shaped torso (not absurd, just the general shape) For…
  • Congrats & keep up the good work...it's tough going from such an active lifestyle where the bad things don't affect you as much to a lifestyle where you have to generate the willpower to exercise on your own. Much respect.
  • Tracking calories has made me think about food all of the time too - you want what you can't have. It's simple and inescapable. I usually plan out my day ahead of time to tell myself I'm where I should be in order to get my mind off it, or drink a lot of water to make sure I'm "feeling full." It's a lot easier for me…

  • That's actually a PERFECT motivational key...be one of those people who can proudly say they did it and be the one offering tips for everyone else. Good luck...impressive goals!
  • never a problem for me, I've been eating 3000+ calories/day the last couple days and I'm still always hungry! lol I'm a bit envious at this moment in time

  • This seems silly, but your body needs energy to heat up cold water, so this tip might help you lose an extra half pound, lol.
  • Truth! I really believe girls (I am 18 lol, not women) think they know what they want and then when they get it they want more. It sucks sometimes.
  • This was my original thought - I would just give it more time to see if that's the issue! Up the calories a little bit, drink more water (if you don't drink enough now). I always tell people to not cut out cardio, for the simple reason that even if you want to bulk up, you don't want fat. I bulked up basically all of last…
  • I guess it could be a lot of things, but since you admit you're out of shape but willing to work at this, I'm sure you'll have no problem. Since you started dieting/exercising so recently, you're body is most likely adapting to your new lifestyle (which is a good thing). Weight loss isn't supposed to be consistent, quick,…
  • Ah, I have a similar problem. I have a very small bladder and therefore if I find myself drinking a bottle of water even past 8 I'll be up a few times during the night. Luckily I'm one of the heaviest sleepers alive so it doesn't really bother me. Yeah I would just say try not to drink much water past 7PM (but make sure…
  • Yeah seriously, this 1000 calorie diet program does NOT work for weight loss...you're going to store fat and burn muscle because you're starving yourself. The main function of fat is energy but also storage, so if you're not getting energy elsewhere you're going to store it (while losing weight)...in the long run, no…
  • I would eat 50-75% back, or all of them if you are still hungry. You can eat more and lose weight. That's actually what I do. I've been eating about 2500 calories/day the last few months (with pig-out sessions once a week or so). The key is burning a ton. I run about 6-8 miles a day, burning almost 1000 calories per day…
  • I would say about once per week. I had a bad day today (tonight, I made brownies and brought them to this party, and ate everything in sight), but tomorrow I'm making up for it with healthy options, 60 minutes of running total, and no sweets at all. I'm going to try to do this for about a week and then Christmas Eve and…
  • I always justify eating way over by indulging in awesome food (usually Peanut Butter late night like tonight lol, Chinese food, candy, cookies - examples off the top of my head). Usually if I eat a ton one day, I try to exercise a lot the next day and only eat back about 50-75% of the calories, or a lot of protein.
  • Unless I'm in a very specific mood, for me it's all rap and hip-hop. I have an iPod Shuffle (about 150 songs) that fuels most of my running/workouts. I have a lot of LoS, Blue Scholars, Kanye West, Rakim, The Roots, CYNE, etc. Songs with a heavy bass and a fast pace get me going the most well.
  • I probably should have read the FAQs, thank you for the responses though. So if I'm lifting 3x/week (high rep, almost-max weight, 1-2 minutes in between sets), that's additional calorie burn? I have been lifting consistently and hard for the past 2 months or so (about the same time I've been calorie tracking), so do you…
  • Interesting, my BMR ranges between 2800-3100 from this site (Moderately Active-Very Active). On MFP, I entered the 2nd-highest active setting and the same qualifications and my goal is 1900 calories
