Hello! Age: 47 Height: 5'10" Female SW: 237 CW: 236 GW: 170 Working on logging my food, counting calories, exercising. I like to walk and do elliptical, and now that the weather is improving, love working in the yard. Any twins??

Several reasons. 1. Little to no exercise, so I was eating more than I burned off. 2. Huge love for baking and baked goods of all kinds. I truly did not want to give this up, but it was a big contributer to my inability to make a change. 3. Got lazy/comfortable - the kind of comfortable that makes you settle into a way of…

Why on earth do people get so upset about what others log as exercise? Goodness gracious, why do you care? We are all on different journeys. We're not all heavy lifters or marathon runners for crying out loud. It's a ridiculous topic.

Yay!!! What a nice success story!!

It depends what your BMR is and what goal you set for pounds lost per week. As you are so close to your goal weight, for example, it's not realistic to lose 2 lbs a week. So the lower you set that (like 0.5 lbs per week) the higher your cals will be. I would not set it at 'sedentary' unless you really are sedentary.

I guess it does depend on the frequency. Since I can't be sure of the calorie content, I shouldn't choose those things too often. I know that when I was being very strict in my regimen, I did not even eat at a place that didn't have the calories posted. I'm not sure how much of a requirement it is. I think only chain…

I have lost 37 lbs, and though many of my pants are too big (size 20-22), I still wear a pair of khakies size 22 that never fit me even when I was a size 20. Now I wear size 16's, yet these 22's still fit me (a bit baggy). I pulled out my size 16 jeans from about 10+ years ago. WAYYYY too small. But my new size 18 clothes…

While applaud those who just exercise control and avoid all the snacks that their spouses bring into the house, that has not worked for me. I am fortunate that my husband has agreed to help support me. There are 2 or 3 snacky things that he likes that do not tempt me, so that's what he brings in. If he gets something more…

I find that through catalogs or on line, you can find long torso ones, but they tend to not be available in plus sizes as commonly. I did find a web site called "Swimsuits for All" and they had Tall and Plus - I bought a couple of them. I didn't love them, but they did fit OK.

Not that you really need one more opinion here, but I have done both. I don't think I ever lost more than 20 lbs on WW (if it was even that much). MFP works so much better for me. Could be me though ... maybe I was just really ready and serious about it this time? However, that $10 or $12 a week pays for lunch out - a…

I've lost 35+ pounds eating dessert most nights. Anything from Fiber One brownies and milk, to ice cream. It just has to fit into your goal in order to keep losing.

Very inspiring! Great job!

5'10", 202 lbs, size 18's are getting big, just now fitting into 16. But it depends on the syle.

Sorry to hear you've been feeling under the weather. It's so great that you miss it and you'll get right back into it when you are feeling better!

Thanks for the information. Helpful, I think. You recommended the Military Body Fat calculator. I did that one, and got 44.2%. For kicks, I did the Original and the Covert Bailey. Those were 31.4% and 33%. Hmm - big difference! The main difference was the waist measurement: The military calculator just said "Waist" - so I…

That was a good one!

I weigh daily and record daily. I like to see the daily fluctuations. However, I do try to turn off the setting where it broadcasts my weight loss if I am re-losing something I already lost, so people don't get confused (because MFP doesn't advertise when I've gained!)

Thanks ladies - I just wasn't sure if I was missing something. I won't bother tracking it under cardio, but I thought it would be nice to have a chart that I can work from and check off as I go. I think I'll do it off line as well. Now to search the internet for some ideas of what to do, as I don't go to a gym. Thanks!

A little embarrassed to say, but I will miss my zippered cardigans. (Nerdy, I know.) I have about 8 of them, and they are size 2x and too big. Still wearing them, as it's still wintery here, but they are baggy. They are the perfect thing for work. They were in every catalog a few years ago, but now I don't see them…

I think the feedback here is unanimous. DO NOT put her on a diet or start her counting calories. An 11 year old girl does not need to begin obsessing over calories. And you harping on her to lose weight is likely to have the opposite effect. I would totally encourage her to be more active - go for hikes, etc. And encourage…

That is awesome! I probably would have caved and had the sausage egg mcmuffin. But good for you for that good choice!
