  • I agree with the other posters that you shouldn't count the water in fruits, veg., smoothies, etc. Water is sooooo important to other functions besides losing weight! It lubricates your joints, helps in elimination, gives you nice skin, etc. Eight glasses is just a rule of thumb and the MINIMUM! My chiropractor even goes…

  • This morning I had a great NSV! I am finally able to do "bow pose" in my yoga class! (If i knew how to insert a picture from my desktop, I could show it to you!)
  • And you mentioned you eat eggs---maybe try some salsa on top of scrambled eggs? An online recipe website I really love is: www.allrecipes.com Type in some foods you like to see ideas. People will review the recipe and add their own thoughts on how they changed it. It's good for ideas.
  • How about making a smoothie with some fruits? Don't add any sweetener (honey, etc.) if you're afraid of the sugar. However, natural sugars in fruits are good for you, provided you don't overeat fruits and the fiber is a must for good colon health Do you eat yogurt? Add some fruit (peaches, berries) to plain, Greek yogurt.…

  • Retired HS Environmental science/biology teacher for 33 years! Have 3 grown children and a new granddaughter (holding her in my pic) Now I volunteer for a food pantry, belong to a book club and travel! :flowerforyou:
  • I'd look up the calories for it for different amounts. Buy some, measure out a cup or two, eat it and see if your craving for more goes away. Sometimes all it takes is a small taste to satisfy you. Trouble is, most of us don't wait long enough to see if we're satisifed and we keep shoveling it in. Then we feel bad that we…
  • Never saw that in my gym---they only have a sign that says "no boots" in the weight room! My chiropractor told me "absolutely no flip flops!" He has seen more people who fell and did damage because of them. I'm a klutz as it is, so I only wear them in the shower at the gym.
  • It's all in the pronounciation! Chicklets could be "Sheik lay"!
  • Chicklets Tennesee (Chicklets was a dog who we found wandering in the woods--named her after the gum!)
  • I was thinking of estimating them because that seemed much to high. Thanks!
  • Well how about that! I just looked though and it says "general gardening". I weeded for two hours and when I put that in it said I burned 715 cal. Doesn't that seem like a lot? I did a lot of up and down bending etc. but that seems like a lot.

  • Being a former HS teacher, I used to go to bed at 9:30 (get up at 5am) and would miss some of my fav shows on TV. So, I recorded them and walked on my treadmill after work. I was motivated to get home and walk so I wouldn't miss out on my shows. Since you like to walk, it may work for you! I live in Pgh. and there were…
  • Laziness Too much sitting in front of: TV, computer, video games, etc. Too many gadgets that do the work for you instead of you manually doing it! People giving in to "on the run food", although you CAN make smart choices at fast food places.
  • Ditto the jeans goal! I haven't worn jeans of years--would love to be able to go in a store and pick a few out where one fits! I have a lot of cute dresses in my closet that I wore a few years ago and would love to wear again. One motivator for me is to hang a fav dress or suit in plain view where I see it everyday and get…
  • Thanks for the explanations! I never eat back my exercise calories and used MFP for my weight loss goals so I guess I'm ahead!
  • My husband and I were hired as teachers for the same school. Both of us had broken off enagements and just started talking in the faculty room during our plan period. We started dating Jan. 1, got engaged Mar. 30 and married Aug. 13 of that year! Now, 35 years later we are still going strong! What are the chances of us…
  • ----it rains for a few days straight and can't get outside ---being self conscious about what you look like---I sweat profusely and look like a drowned rat! Of course, people at the gym see me that way too! ---I have to drive to get to some decent trails or paths to walk where it's safe I think most people would choose to…
  • Usually with strawberries or peaches. I also use low fat cottage cheese and low fat ricotta cheese for a lo--cal lasagna. With sauce on top you can't even taste the difference from the full fat versions!
  • I love it too! I try to vary my workouts so I don't get bored. I kayak, walk, play tennis, work out at the gym with various cardio machines, take yoga and zumba classes. The most I can miss is 2 days in a row and then I start to feel fatigued, crabby, etc. Your body actually craves to move so do what you love and…
  • All kinds of beans, especially black beans! They are great protein, have good fiber and fill me up!
  • cheese---I'm a cheese freak and I eat too much!
  • I calculated my BMR and it was 1440 cal. That's how many I need to just exist. I strength train 2X/week and do cardio activities 5X/week. I am 58 and will lose weight on that amount of calories at about 1-1 1/2 lbs./week. Some days I'm really hungry and up my intake to 1500. I think you need to see what works for…
  • I am a retired teacher and some years had to eat the earliest lunch--11:15 so needless to say i was ravenous by dinnertime! So, I started experimenting with different kinds of foods that had a lot of fiber and filled me up to last the afternoon. Here's my power lunch recipe: black beans, diced tomatoes, onions, cilantro,…
